Chapter 423 - Pillars of Light

The crown prince may have died at her hands but there were still heirs left that could inherit the throne so she was not too worried about her actions destabilising the kingdom.

If things continued to progress as they were then it would not be too long before the enemies of her mother would have taken control of the kingdom.

Thunder clouds started making a lot of noise as they moved according to the direction of Medea who was moving around in them, they passed over a large piece of land that was occupied by many large buildings that were surrounded by tall walls.

They belonged to her families competitors and the ones that had played a large role in her mothers death, the kidnapping of herself and the events that had followed.

Her senses were locked onto the signs of life below and she she stood in the middle of all of the thunder and lightning in the clouds that had been built up.

The rapier that was in her hand was raised above her head and the surrounding lightning had condensed at the tip of her rapier before she had swung her arm towards the ground beneath her.

The sword tip had came down and released the gathered energy which shot down a huge ray of lightning.

Everyone in the kingdom was woken up to the noises that were created and the bright flash that was followed with destruction.

One large house underneath her had been completely destroyed from the blast but it did not end there, Medea had raised her rapier again before completing the same action.

Medea directed the thunder and lightning towards the target that the tip of her rapier pointed towards and a large pillar of lightning had hit another part of the ground beneath her.

There was no mercy that had came from her and she did not allow anyone the opportunity to escape.

Her senses picked up on anyone that was not gathered up and then she pointed her rapier towards them which followed with them being hit by a bolt of lightning.

It did not take that long before all life in that location had been wiped out and there was nothing but the rubble that was left behind from what had been there before.

There was a complicated feeling within Medea as she looked down at the destruction that she had done. 'Alyssia had warned me before that getting revenge would not make me feel any better and that it was not the way for me to heal from everything that has been done but..'

There would be those that felt good when they got payback for the things that had been done to them but once it was all over, there was just an empty feeling that was left.

Some hated or enjoyed the process while others felt that their actions were justified or were for the greater good in order to tell themselves that they had not taken things too far or had done something wrong.

Medea had taken action herself and had solved a part of her past and while she did feel that her actions were necessary for the sake of her revenge and for the future of the kingdom, there was still some softheartedness and guilt that was left over from involving others that may not have been involved with everything.

The thunder clouds moved along with her until they had moved towards the edge of the island where there were many ships docked there.

Everyone below looked like tiny ants beneath her feet and some had moved towards the ships in a panic so that they could set sail.

"Kya!"

"Run!"

"The clouds are moving!"

"The clouds are following us! Why?"

"It is like they are alive!"

Rays of lightning came from above one after another and swallowed up the ships that were trying to escape and those that had remained in place.

No ship was left after all of them had been destroyed but that was not the end of the worst night of the pirates, bandits and gangsters that had occupied the kingdom for so long.

A ship had appeared in the distance and got closer but it was not targeted by the attacks from above.

Some had stuck their heads out from their shelter to see how someone could be safe in that weather but they were left very shocked by what they saw once the ship reached the docks that had been destroyed.

Many small robotic creatures that were the Automata that had come from the moon had jumped from the ship and started marching through the streets.

Each of them were armed with guns or other kinds of cold weapons depending on what they preferred then when they had spotted someone, a massacre had begun and the territories of the criminals were bathed in blood.

A figure had appeared in the air above them and there was someone standing on a hoverboard who had dropped several metal balls which had caused explosions.

The sensory abilities of Medea had helped to pick out people from the her surroundings so that she could better identify who was affiliated with who and if anyone was just an innocent bystander or not so she had targeted those that were related along with the others while letting some innocents slip away to safety.

Once the Automata had been damaged or they had ran out of energy to the point that they would have stopped functioning, there were bolts of electricity that hit them and caused them to recharge and repair.

It was like an immortal robot army had descended to conquer the kingdom that were accompanied by moving thunder clouds and a strange cloaked figure that was on a hover board.

Once the night had turned to day and everyone had been dealt with leaving no traces of the former organisations that had plagued the kingdom, Medea appeared and a man was in her hands that had a look of despair on his face.

She taunted him while staring off towards the bloodied streets and the buildings that were left in ruins. "Now you have had to watch how your life turned to nothing. Just like how I had to watch the same happen to my mother."

He was the man in her memory that had landed the killing blow on her mother which was only allowed to happen due to her being used as a hostage. "I will not kill you yet. You still have some use to me."

"No.. please.. just kill me. Kill me."

"Argh!"

He felt the electrical energy spread through his body all of a sudden which had caused him to pass out then Medea turned towards Ashwin who was hovering above. "We should leave."

Once Medea had taken in enough of what she had done, she whispered. "Hopefully this will help turn things around for he place that I was born in."

Ashwin was concealed by the clothing he was wearing just like Medea and had replied coldly. "They all deserved it. Do not regret anything."

It was already good enough that they had held back and only targeted those involved with the criminals and the family that had aided them especially when they had the kind of power that could have reduced the whole kingdom to nothing but rubble.

The days that followed had let the world know what had happened in that island and what had followed as many criminal organisations and pirate groups were destroyed without warning by a mysterious group.
