Chapter 402 - Two Friends

Among those that had met Alyssia and read the newspaper that reached them in a part of the world, there were two that had paid the most attention to it and were looking forward to future events that Alyssia would bring.

One was Yamato who was still avoiding her father and was stuck in Wano, the Beast pirates had dropped a newspaper on the ground and she picked it up so she could catch up on what was happening outside of Wano.

Once she had read all the news articles, Yamato showed a warm smile on her face. 'It has been some time since I last made a friend and enjoyed catching up on their news. It was the same with Ace but now he is gone… I hope that Alyssia can survive out there.

No, she should be able to. She was able to catch me off guard and wound me slightly so she should be fine so long as father does not run into her. I just hope that she will be careful not to provoke any bigger influences.'

The time spent with Alyssia was memorable for Yamato and the fondness towards her grew during the time they were apart.

Yamato had been mourning Ace all on her own with no allies, friends or family to comfort her until Alyssia arrived out of nowhere and spent some time with her.

The loss of Ace was still fresh in her memories so she was reading the newspapers that had arrived inside Wano for any information about Alyssia and the White Storm that Alyssia had talked about when they were drinking together.

There was a part of her that dreaded reading them and did not want to repeat her past trauma from when she had watched Aces Vivre card burn away leaving nothing behind and then reading about his death.

Yamato was hoping that there would be no repeat of that with Alyssia and that she would read no bad news about her but once she started to read, the more interested she became.

There was a hint of envy within her towards the adventure Alyssia went on when Yamato was stuck inside Wano but she was happy to hear her new friend had been doing well.

The images were cut out and she admired them. 'Those must be the friends she talked about. They all look so cheerful together. Can I have that some day too?'

She had been turned away by so many people and those that were nice to her were killed by her father or his subordinates.

Yamato was brought up to be an Oni Princess that must be feared and worshipped but could never get close to another, Kaido's child raising methods were very extreme and he was too stubborn in his ways to let his child grow up with her own dreams and beliefs.

Everything she would be was decided for her and if she had an opposing view than him or disobeyed then she would be chained up, starved, beaten and threatened to be killed at his hand.

Even if he had not killed her in all those years, the trauma and pain that he inflicted upon her was enough to let a lot of strong people fall into depression and despair before finally giving in to him but Yamato was very strong willed and survived it all.

Yamato took one final look at the picture cut outs and then placed them in between some pages of a book before stuffing it into her clothing like she was keeping a treasure close to her where it could be guarded better and kept from the eyes of others.

She continued to look towards the distance with a brighter look on her face compared to what she had been like since Aces death and the departure of Alyssia.

——

In another unknown location, there was a pink haired old lady that was eating a large plate of food while looking towards a newspaper in her other hand.

The amount she ate and how quickly she ate it was enough to earn her the title 'gluttonous' and her body shape did not seem to change no matter what she ate.

It was Jewellery Bonney who had met Alyssia a very long time ago and her eyes became serious as she thought to herself. 'She was right in her predictions and father has been confirmed to be completely converted into a robot that follows the orders of the World Government.

Though he does seem to be acting strange and has not moved from a port on Sabaody Archipelagos which resulted in him clashing with the Marines… I need to know why he is acting that way but he will not answer me and attacks on sight of me.

Alyssia has been making more appearances lately and is hiding away less. Perhaps the time for her to start making moves is getting closer. It would be nice to meet her again in the future and hopefully she can answer some of my questions I have for her if I can meet her again.'

Bonney had met Alyssia in the past and they built up some form of friendship before Alyssia left but they did keep in contact a little before Bonney set out to enter the Grand Line.

The weather technology had helped them overcome some difficulties they had suffered from and the island had shown some signs of improvement since then which allowed more crops to grow and less sicknesses to break out.

The warning had let her and Kuma prepare for what was to come and it happened as Alyssia said but Bonney was still hurt by the outcome no matter how long she had to prepare for it as it was coming.

Bonney had to watch on as the fate of Kuma was revealed and then after the war of the best, she went to seek out Blackbeard to kill him while others in worst generation went to the New World for their own goals but she was defeated.

She barely avoided being captured by Akainu and escaped to live using her powers to change her age and build so she could get around unnoticed.

Once Alyssia started to appear in the newspapers, Bonney had started to pay more attention to the movements of the White Storm that Alyssia was connected to and was carefully watching how they would use their growing power, wealth and influence.

There were some things that Bonney wished to hear about but there were no details about the location of Alyssia so she could not get the answers she wanted yet.

Meanwhile Alyssia had collected several requests from the mercenary posts of the New World and went on a journey of her own towards several islands that were marked as very dangerous.
