Chapter 224 - Travelling with Ann

Before the time of recuperation for the two ladies who gave birth to the two babies, the male test subject had been experimented on many times to make him extra durable while his legs were mostly built for running and leaping better but also providing more powerful kicks.

He had been trained in the basics of a leg style of combat that suited the cyborg leg modifications and some of the additional changes that the rest of his body.

Since he was implanted with the Germa methods to make him unable to betray Alyssia and the White Storm and was further put under other manipulation methods, he did not remember much from his past as he was given a whole new identity along with the two women who had given birth to the two babies.

The three people had signed their lives away for life as test subjects or to become someone that could be used and disposed of when they were no longer needed but Alyssia was someone who would not discard someone of use so easily.

After the two women had underwent some light training and recovery after their pregnancy, they were both instructed on some things to help them get used to their new identities and tasks.

Alyssia handed the three of them over to Alfred so that he could make use of them within the darker parts of the world and in order to avoid leaking of the blueprints involved in the making in the legs, several traps were built into it along with a heart monitor.

If the man was ever to die or the legs or other parts were tampered with or removed then it would trigger resulting in the destruction of many of the main components within.

Since the three people already had an identity that was quite clean before being captured to be sold as a slave, they could easily use that identity so Alyssia made sure to build their identity from that along with a story why they had gone missing for many months without a word.

The three of them were arranged to enter the underworld of the Grand Line and slowly get involved with some small parts while slowly building their power and participating in secret auctions and black market deals.

Slowly they would build their power and make their way to the New World where they would attempt to integrate with the dark parts there.

After Alyssia received a message, she set out on a ship along with Ann as she continued to travel across the Grand Line using an Eternal Pose.

Since she was taking a trip to somewhere that she could not bring the babies, she left them in the care of Tristan who was happy to take up babysitting or godmother duties.

Upon arriving at the docks of the island, they found themselves being surrounded by sandy deserts and worn out lands and buildings that had been destroyed by harsh sandstorms.

The scorching heat hit her body right away as she arrived close to the island of Alabasta where there was a variety of different types of dangerous or annoying creatures within the desert.

The overall situation within the Alabasta Kingdom was tense because of the ongoing rebel group and the supposed wrongdoings of the king.

Crocodiles scheme and framing of King Cobra with Dance Powder along with the growing scale of problems within had made more people turn to the side of the rebel group to bring down the Royal Family.

Their leader was still busy gaining further power and arms from various sources to overthrow the royalty if the king did not hear their pleas for help and act as a responsible and good king.

While he was the head of the operation and trusted by many loyalists, there were still those who wished to end the king sooner or had their own goals as they may be part of another group, however the leader was able to maintain their current state hoping for a change for the better to come soon.

However that situation could not be maintained for long because as soon as the fuse was lit, the war would begin and would be difficult to stop.

Alyssia and Ann both continued walking through the scorching heat while stopping at a couple of places until they finally arrived at their destination.

Alyssia made sure to come to Alabasta to protect Ann and to avoid risking other employees lives during a critical time where there are many influences fighting against each other.

The royals and rebels are the main groups in conflict in the open but behind that is the various conflicts of the desert bandits, other desperate groups who had resorted to committing crimes to survive, the pirates that arrive on the island and the members of Baroque Works with Crocodile who is a member of the Seven Warlords who is carefully working behind the scenes to move things how he wishes them to be.

It was unknown if someone from the White Storm would encounter an accident on the way there or get caught up in the conflicts or somehow be pulled into the plot in some way.

Rather than leaving it to others and risking their lives, Alyssia took the task herself so that she could see the casino before Crocodile is removed from his position but also to make sure no problems may arise.

Upon arriving early, she quickly took out her berries and began exchanging them for chips to play several games but while doing so, she had started purchasing upgrades for her gambling based skill.

Whether it was card counting, tricks or betting on roulette or other games, she could quickly learn the rules and the various tricks involved in each game so as she placed some bets on the first day, she started off losing a little but slowly adjusted as she started earning more later in the day.

She had made a decent amount of berries after exchanging her chips and then she was finally escorted to the office where she met a manager of the casino.

She sat down with Ann by her side and the manager seemed to show a look of nervousness on his face as if not expecting her arrival.

One of the clauses in the business agreement was that the White Storm would have to pay a reimbursement fee if they did not arrive at the casino on time, since crocodile was very thorough in his planning and liked to exploit certain grey areas in his business, the manager seemed to be aware of the fact that some kind of scheme was going on which was unfair to the White Storm but profitable for him.

Stating unfair terms by using a little of his authority as a warlord of the sea to hire Ann was easy for him to arrange and because of the situation in Alabasta, many variables could cause unexpected accidents or make the diva drop out of showing up for the performance resulting in the clause of the contract being exploited.

Even if it was not their fault for not being able to get Ann to perform, the White Storm would have to pay that fee but Alfred had read the contract fully after receiving it from one of the brokers that had been involved in the deal.

Although the unfair terms were noticed a little late, there were always ways to deal with them and avoid the problems related to it if they had arrived on time and were prepared to perform.

Since that broker had been handling some things involved with Ann during the time that Aizah was away, a mistake or manipulation could happen with someone less experienced and when they were up against Crocodile or his team of people so they only received a light punishment for their failure.

Alyssia decided to be straight forward as she crossed her arms across her chest and leaned back in her seat while dressed in a smart business suit after she had been changed in a guest room earlier. "Diva Ann has arrived and is prepared to perform as stated in the contract but why is it that you do not seem so happy about that?"

She had pretty much guessed Crocodile and others thoughts on the growing White Storm as many reports were about various plots to steal away her ideas, workers or anything of value while others attempted assassination, terrorism or kidnapping and ransom tactics but also knew a little of Crocodiles way of thinking so she was able to guess the reason behind the managers expression.

She thought to herself as she waited for him to correct his expression and begin the business talk. 'They must really think that we are pushovers if they think such a cheap tactic can work.'
