Chapter 189 - News #2

Around the world the news was spread as it made a very small impact but in some places, various people grew interested in Alyssia Lucine, Carrot, Tristan, Liushi and Monera along with the White Storm group that they belonged to.

Those that had some suspicions about her identity and her involvement with the incident months before saw the news article but the only proof of her matching it would be her name to match up with the A L on her wanted poster.

However after a thorough investigation on the case and the problem with the attack on one of the New World princess, many odd coincidences began to be found resulting in suspicion falling on Vergo's head from Garp , Sengoku and Tsuru.

Tsuru had been the main person chasing Doflamingo for years but he had always been one step ahead as if he had been informed ahead of time so naturally she suspected a spy within, once the incident was investigated and some parts of the truth were found out, they put their heads together to talk about the bounty.

With no further news of Alyssia and her whereabouts, they were unable t investigate her in great detail to find out if she was truly as Vergo had said so they kept the bounty up but it remained frozen as it was and the dead or alive was changed to alive.

As for their plans for Vergo, they kept him where he was to wait for a time when he would slip up in the future since he had been careful enough to avoid suspicion.

Doflamingo possessed too much power to contend with, with his status as the king of Dressrosa, Warlord and ex Celestial Dragon, they had to properly prepare reasonable cause to catch him and if their hunch was correct about Vergo then arresting him so soon would only put one person behind bars and that was only if they found evidence to do so.

They hoped to keep him close and use him to bring down Doflamingo should he be no longer needed and trusted to cooperate with the Marines and World Government.

The Marines are not the absolute good in the world as they have their own views on the word justice and in the end it still requires the support of the public and the berries to keep it up and running.

Sengoku read the newspaper and his brows furrowed. "A L.. Alyssia Lucine.. hey Garp, my instincts are telling me that we may have found that person Vergo reported."

Garp looked at the picture of Alyssia lifting her championship belt up and then read the rest of it. "Alyssia Lucine.. sixteen.. already a champion of mixed martial arts and a member of the White Storm, hmmm.. it seems that she has potential."

Tsuru sighed. "Be serious… that is not the main thing you should be focussing on. If A L is truly Alyssia Lucine then we will need to investigate further into White Storm to find out if they are clean or not. A L may be Alyssia Lucine but that connection alone will not give us enough cause to arrest her and we even have proof that the incident involving A L or 'Ghost' acted in self defence. Even her current display has shown that she is a person pursuing martial arts, in Vergo's report it did say that she caused harm to his subordinates but I think differently from reading some other reports and seeing her now."

Sengoku sighed. "I see what you are getting at, the first incident in G-5 could just be said to be a sparring session between martial artists or warriors with equal risks of injury and even death but still nobody died within G-5 before she left. This would partly show her personality and matches with the image and news published. The part that those who died were innocents is solely reliant on Vergo's report and with what we have found out, the report cannot be trusted completely. If I was surrounded by three or more ships while I myself had one, even if I was a merciful person I would not hesitate to kill when there is a heavy risk to those on my ship."

Garp laughed. "Ahahaha yes, she had to act decisively to protect her crew. Hey, can we just recruit her?"

Tsuru said in a concerned tone of voice. "I am afraid that will be difficult, the past Mink group had already caught the eye of the World Government and if this Alyssia Lucine is a Mink too… they may try to connect her to Nox."

Often times there are racial groups, bloodlines or tribes that are automatically declared as evil or having bad intentions.

If Alyssia and those others were confirmed to be of the Mink tribe and one tiny bad deed was found about them, they would be hunted down by the world because of guilt by association.

Whether it was the nobles desire to own a Mink or the connection to Pedro of the Nox pirates who had been searching for the Poneglyphs, one reason was enough to go after someone from the Mink tribe.

Luckily the Minks had not been showing off their Electro all that much and had been focusing on their physical abilities so others had not been able to confirm that they were Minks except several close people on the crew and those that had died before witnessing it.

If she showed enough potential and ability to build up her own influence then she may even be considered for a place in the Warlords if a place opened up, however there was still a need to look into her further.

Sengoku lay back in thought and then spoke. "Investigate the White Storm, their boss, their goals and any dealings they may have or other affiliated groups. Do not dig too deeply to cause any problems or raise suspicions, just do enough to put us at ease then we can forget about this matter."

Although the investigation should not have went any further, Sengoku had to rid himself of any slight suspicions that he had before clearing her name.

The slower they moved, the more the White Storm may suffer from harassment from various bounty hunter groups hoping to draw her out of hiding so he ordered it to be done right away.

Although not many were able to make the same deductions as he and others had, there would always be those that would take even the smallest chance after comparing the blurry image with A L on it to the image of Alyssia along with her name.

Little did they know that this action of theirs had saved Alyssia a lot of trouble in the future.

Shortly afterwards the various businesses were investigated in private along with the Creation Union within Baldimore which revealed a positive image of Alyssia to Sengoku, Garp and Tsuru.

Not just Creations goals let them feel at ease but also Alyssia's actions against a potential terrorist group let them see her in a positive light.

Then there was the various times that those within White Storm had cooperated with the Marines when they encountered threats to their lives or plots against them while some even occasionally handed in bounties, so those at the very top of the Marines quickly saw that White Storm was very cooperative and had a positive effect to its surroundings.

Since Alfred had kept his involvement with the black market dealings separate and more hidden, various things that would be suspicious went unnoticed and his past was investigated which revealed his origin and his previous trading jobs until he later gave it up for unknown reasons.

His past had proven his abilities but his recent actions were much mire creative so it was suspected that he had an investor or a private partner or boss behind him, who it was remained unknown but Sengoku's instincts were telling him that Alyssia was the most likely to be that person.

She was one of the main founders of the Creation Union which was connected to White Storm and she stood out the most among the various other candidates.

His best reason for suspecting her was that most innovative and new ideas often come from the younger or new generation rather than the elderly, Alfred may have his own experience and capability but many of his products had more of a youthful touch and creativity on it that he had not shown in his past business pursuits.

However that was not enough cause for arrest or further investigation from the Marines so the investigation ended and the A L bounty was publicly revoked and Vergo was scolded for exaggerating in his report.

He only got a light scolding in the end since he carefully explained that he only reported what he had found and heard, his own speculations were just the result of his investigation due to the lack of evidence.

He was able to smoothly get away with what he had done and keep the trust of many but a select few had kept a careful watch over him in waiting for him to make a mistake.
