Chapter 143 - New Journey Begins

Since most of the science group had been primarily focused on Medea's modifications, there was enough time left over for their own personal experimentation and the Creation Union's duties to keep up with several orders from the White Storm merchant group.

There had been no time in between to make modifications to the ship so it remained as it was for now.

Many parts were sent over in preparation for its rebuilding but they had been stored for a later date when the ship would not be needed so much.

After making several calls and making some arrangements, Alyssia awaited those arriving at Baldimore together.

Many pure martial artists arrived with a couple of those that wielded a weapon from her crew.

Nica and Ashwin needed to stay on Baldimore for the time being along with Ein to continue their research, Clifford was busy protecting Alfred and the others along with some occasional shipments.

Archie wished to remain on Water Seven and Jester was kept busy with his duties so the only people from the main members of the crew that had joined this time were Yvie, Aizah, Ann, Liushi, Carrot, Tristan, Medea, little Li and many others beneath them with the addition of a couple of Kungfu Dugongs.

After checking that everyone was in attendance Alyssia smiled and then spoke to everyone. "This time we will do a little travelling and towards the end there will be an event to take part in. Those that wish to take part are welcome to come forward to prove themselves but if you wish to just watch, I will not hold it against you. Of course non martial artists do not have to participate but you may have some roles to fulfil."

There had been a couple of promising talents bloom within her crew from those weaker over the break but they still lacked some guidance or a chance to prove themselves.

Although they may not be capable of reaching the ranks that she, Tristan and Carrot could reach, they would be somewhere behind the likes of one of the group leaders if they continued to receive support, kept working hard, built up experience and had some potential.

Physically some of the current leaders are still lacking even after training and receiving Alyssia's personal care and would struggle to defeat someone like Arlong or someone as powerful with a bounty below 50 million berries, however those of them had made up for their weakness with their own way of fighting that could defeat many strong opponents.

Ann had her illusions and her training that she had received from Aizah as they became friends allowing her to make use of her illusions to distract her enemies and shoot them if she needed to.

Aizah pairing up with her made a devastating combo as she had a better shot and had a range of different types of things to be fired from her own gun.

Yvie could be said to be the weakest among them after recovering from severe malnnourishment but she possessed Pop Green to take down more powerful enemies far above her own strength.

Many others within the crew were currently in the same situation and if confronted with a person with high abilities or a special Devil Fruit like a logia, they may be unable to defeat them.

However with the rarity of Haki users, this was not something to be overly worried about and they would rarely need to directly fight such people unless Alyssia was not around.

The strongest people Alyssia had recruited came from Kano or brought from Zou, the only exception to this was Jester but even they had their limits to what they could accomplish within a couple of short years as the story begins.

She spent some time on Kano, travelled around afterwards only to end up within Baldimore for several months so the start of the story would begin in around six months time from now.

It was enough time to build up her crew and set some plans into motion before then so a journey like this was important for their growth.

Alyssia set sail and looked towards the sea that stretched out before herself with a look of anticipation.

Medea had been moved to a comfortable room to rest along with Tristan to care for her within the ship as they had been instructed to follow along.

While everyone was undergoing strict training under Alyssia, Medea was undergoing her own rehabilitation and slowly grasping how to use her body effectively.

She got up from her bed and slowly moved towards a box that was within her room and opened the lid carefully.

A thin and long sharp sword lay within the box.

As she removed it, she could see her reflection on the new blade.

Although her appearance was how she previously looked, on many parts of her body there were more obvious stitch like markings that showed in some places which showed that a lot of her old damaged skin had been replaced during the operation and what was on the outside could be seen as just a layer of fake skin to cover up the metallic body beneath.

She almost did not recognise herself for a moment but did not dwell too much on her changes for too long as she had long accepted that she was no longer the pitiful and weak slave of the past.

As she looked towards the sword while gripping onto the hilt, her eyes became determined. "If the path is cut off then I can find another way. Now that I have been given the opportunity to begin again, I cannot slack."

Although she had been given instructions to do some light movements first, she instead picked up her sword and began to perform slow sword movements which were the basics of the swordsmanship she learned from her mother and practiced diligently.

Each movement was slow and flowed smoothly one after another but sometimes she would stop and begin contemplating.

As a genius with the sword, she was able to pick up the restrictions that this body brought her along with its strengths.

Although she had lost some flexibility and lightness after her change, she had gained more speed, durability, strength and the sword in her hand seemed very light in her hands.

As she practiced, she began to remove some movements that were impossible to achieve in her new body and started simplifying her swordsmanship to better suit her cyborg body.

While everyone was busy with their own things, many days passed and the ship arrived at the first destination.
