You know, there is a very popular theory. That Danzo killed Hatake Sakumo, Kakashi's father.
But now that I am Kakashi, with all his memories, I think that he didn't kill father. He must have a hand in ruining his reputation though.
After the formation of Shinobi Villages, with one country-one Shinobi village system, Samurais had no use left, and were left unemployed and were driven out by ninjas monopolising their entire country's bodyguard duties, and had to relocate to the barren, frozen lands in the north where not many people lived.
With lack of food and good life, the Hatake clan, which protected the Land of Lightning's Daimyo, went to Konoha, where there was ample food.
And father, though he has become ninja instead of Samurai, still held principles of a Samurai.
He was apparently sent on a secret mission in the Land of Wind. I don't know the details, but his cover was blown due to the Third Kazekage disappearing and sending Suna into a frenzy.
He saved his teammates, who were poisoned by Sasori, abandoning the mission to bring them to Konoha immediately so that they could be saved.
And, Sakumo was blamed for assassinating the Third Kazekage by Suna, to prevent internal conflicts between Rasa and Pakura, who could have been the Fourth Kazekage. And probably due to Chiyo's hatred as well, and preventing the embarrassing fact that the Third Kazekage suddenly disappeared one day to be spread to the world.
The Third Ninja War was started by Suna of all villages after this.
Sasori probably did so to get revenge on father for killing his parents, and it was a perfect opportunity to take out the Third Kazekage. Though, he wasn't strong enough to do anything against father, so he settled for his teammates.
But, this doesn't mean that Danzo would have not used this opportunity to drag down Sakumo's reputation, who was the most likely person to become the Fourth Hokage because of his good personality and performance in the Second Ninja War.
While the Sanin was a title for surviving Hanzo, who could have killed them with a lot of injuries, but it wouldn't mean that the Land of Rain will win, the title of White Fang was due to killing the son and daughter-in-law of Chiyo, along with the whole puppeteer brigade of Suna, single-handedly forcing them to withdraw from war.
He even clashed with the Third Raikage, the strongest Raikage in the whole Naruto series and beyond. And while neither side won, clashing with Third Raikage and coming out without any serious injury meant that they were more or less equal.
Considering all this, it's strange that Danzo hasn't tried to frame me as a 'teammate-killer' for killing Rin, even though she jumped on the Chidori on her own.
Probably due to being afraid of Minato-sensei, and maybe because he thought that I had the mindset required for ROOT. Maybe he was afraid that a useful tool in the future might kill himself just like his father.
Considering all this, now that I don't have Minato-sensei protecting me, I know what Danzo wants.
"Do you need something from me, Danzo-sama?"
I stood before him, not really coming at a close distance from him.
I also have to make sure that I don't get bitten by even mosquitoes. Shisui was killed by weakening of his poisoning first.
Though, I don't think he is after my Sharingan right now, considering he will get a lot on the battlefield.
"Kakashi, why did you quit ANBU?"
"I am afraid that I don't have any answer for you. Please ask Third Hokage."
"Third Hokage huh... Not Hokage-sama..."
He muttered, gazing at me, and I widened my eyes a little about my slip-up.
But, of course, I have been behaving this way deliberately.
If I call Hiruzen 'Hokage-sama' and am overly respectful, Hiruzen wouldn't pay attention to me thinking that I am loyal to him, and Danzo will be able to target me easily without Hiruzen watching me.
I still discussed it with Orochimaru, ahem, Orochimaru-sama, because he might be the Fifth Hokage. Further cementing the fact that I don't trust Hiruzen.
Moreover, I have sent Minato-sensei and Kushina's belonging to Mount Myoboku, and they must have found out by now.
"Kakashi, do you have any idea who might have been behind the Kyuubi attack yesterday?"
"Everyone saw the pattern of Sharingan in the Kyuubi's eyes. It must be a rogue ninja from the Uchiha clan, or someone with very large chakra reserves who has stolen Sharingan."
I simply answered about my reasonable suspicions, and I could feel that Danzo was smirking inside.
"Join my ROOT ANBU. I will help you with your revenge in finding the one behind the Kyuubi attack-"
"I am sorry. But I don't think ROOT is strong enough. I haven't seen any Kage level shinobi in it, neither ANBU. Those organisations will only hold me back.
Speaking of which, they weren't really able to do much yesterday."
I stared at him, and he didn't show any change in his expression.
"You want something else, right?"
"Minato-sensei said to stay away from you."
"Though it doesn't seem like you intend to."
Yes. While I intend to get the chakra from Ryumyaku, I don't know if it will work perfectly with me. Afterall, if it the chakra of a dragon, it might have a huge ego. Even after the dragon's death, it might not want to work with a sentient being like me.
Or, the Dragon Veins perhaps don't really originate from a Dragon. I don't know for sure.
There is something that I will need to hold that chakra instead of directly putting it in myself. Afterall, sealing it will lead to my base chakra to drop further. And if I don't seal it, there will be a chance that it will just get away from my body, killing me like when a jinchuriki dies after the tailed beast is removed.
I stared at Danzo, and he gave me an offer.
"Keep an eye on Shisui Uchiha, and report everything about him to me. In exchange, I will give you what you want."
"Minato-sensei discovered something. Something like a tailed beast. If I have to deal with someone who can control tailed beasts, I need something akin to one."
I don't know about the origins of Nue. Or if it is even real, since it is from Boruto. The Zero tails from Shippuden is something from a filler, that I can't really know for sure if it is real. There is Land of Sky, I don't know much details about it, since it wasn't involved in the Third Ninja War, and I wasn't even born until a year after the Second Ninja War ended.
So, it's best to be vague.
"It will be better for you to remove your Sharingan instead. With your natural talent, you will definitely surpass even Minato. But with Sharingan taking away so much of your chakra, you will never be able to perform Flying Thunder God effectively."
"I am not going to run away from the responsibility Obito gave me. I am going to be his vision, and get revenge against the one who killed Minato-sensei, and possibly, Rin."
Obito must be hearing, right?
Even if he is a braindead idiot without any thinking capabilities, he must be able to catch on this, right?
I wouldn't remove this Mangekyo Sharingan. Even if I don't get an additional source of Chakra, until I am proficient in Flying Thunder God, I must hold onto Kamui.
And if I remove it, Obito will just take it back and become too strong.
And anyway, even War Arc Kakashi was very strong, even with the Sharingan leeching away at his chakra. If I just train continuously, I can become stronger than him. But since I have extra knowledge, it will be idiotic to not put into use.
Danzo snorted.
"There may really be some connection with Rin's death due to Kiri putting Three-tails inside her. Even though they are idiotic, they shouldn't be idiotic enough to just hand over Konoha their bijuu, since Minato's skill in fuinjutsu are quite known.
And Rin jumped on your Chidori...
It might be the work of an Uchiha, putting her under genjutsu...
Alright. You must keep an eye on Shisui and see if he has the potential to someday control a bijuu.
After you come back to Konoha, I will hand over a project to you. It's incomplete and useless to me anyway."
Saying this, he left.
Regardless of his intention to fuel my 'hatred' towards Uchihas, his theory was spot on.
And the incomplete project must be Nue. If, just if, the Zero-tails is an actual thing, I don't doubt that Konoha, or atleast Danzo, would have not attempted to create something similar.
Danzo doesn't want to hand it over to Orochimaru, since it will give him too much power. So, Danzo must be intending to use me to complete the research.
And then, he will try to kill me after I have done my job.
He is just trying to use me.
Well, I am using Danzo as well.
And this will give me an opportunity to somehow 'discover' Yamato and save him from ROOT.
Sighing, I entered home, and started preparing for my deployment from tomorrow.
