Chapter 28 - Drastic Change

Zaskia was made to shrug her shoulders because of her mother's unusual behavior.

What's wrong with Ayu? Why are you acting so weird? Realizing that she is now the center of attention, Ayu puts her spoon and fork back and innocently asks, "What are you doing? How come you look like a ghost?"

For the three of them, the sight of Ayu eating vegetables like this is even worse than seeing a ghost. "Let's try it, look at your food! Looks like you took the wrong food," said Akbar representing Firman and Manda. Ayu brought her two eyes to the plate containing her food and firmly shook her head. Ayu returned to continue her food activities.

"Yu, I already bought satay for you, why don't you eat it?" asked Manda again. Ayu then glanced at the satay which was not far from her position.

"Not healthy, Manda!" That's all Ayu said with a smile while showing a row of white teeth.

What? Healthy? Since when did Zaskia's mother think about health? Is Ayu being possessed by spirits or is there something she is hiding? Foods that are processed by burning can actually cause cancer.

According to the official website of the Directorate of Health Promotion and Community Empowerment of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, the protein content in chicken, fish and meat can react with high temperatures from combustion and form carcinogenic compounds.

Akbar's brain stimulation, Firman and Manda suddenly worked very well. Sick? It must have had something to do with her illness. "Mom, you're not sick anymore, are you?" asked Firman in a tone that sounded heavy.

The spoon and fork that was in Ayu's grasp just slipped away, he stared fixedly at the man who was holding Zaskis.

"I'm not sick, dad!" say Ayu honestly. The three adults could see that Ayu was not lying at all. But Firman and Akbar had already been suspicious of Ayu, the change was too sudden to be accepted by Firman and Akbar.

A dinner that should have been finished in fifteen minutes fell to thirty minutes just because of this dime debate.

"Are you sure you don't want me, Son?" ask Firman who was holding his beloved daughter for her to leave for a while to his best friend.

"I want Abi and Ummi, Dad." Zaskia answered and stretched out her hand to Akbar to carry her immediately.

"What do you incite him to wear, Bar?" said Firman again because he felt heavy letting go of Zaskia. Releasing Zaskia to be guarded by Akbar and Manda alone is very hard for him, especially if he has to let go of Zaskia for his future mate.

"There are pigs, there are snails, they have children whose names are bacot," Akbar joked and then immediately ran to the carport where his car was because Firman had taken steps to throw him with his house slippers.

"Mom, what medicine is that? What are you sick with?" said Firman, who when he returned from taking Zaskia away with Akbar and Manda was finding Ayu swallowing a caplet which he believed was medicine.

The water in Ayu's mouth almost burst out in shock. Luckily he didn't lose control. "Well, read on, what medicine is this, right?" Ayu said while giving the medicine bottle to Firman. "Vitamins? Since when do you take vitamins?" Firman is getting more and more curious, what kind of puzzle arrangement is Ayu currently putting together?

"Since you came back, I want us to be together for a long time, until one of us leaves and won't come back," Ayu replied as she brought herself into Firman's arms. A hug that really intoxicates his soul.

"Maybe I will go first to face Him," Firman returned Ayu's hug, no less tightly. Firman is wrong if Ayu does not understand the meaning of her words. Ayu unraveled their embrace, she covered both of Firman's cheeks and said, "Don't doubt His power, Dad!" Verily, with hardship there is ease.

One of the verses in the Qur'an that Ayu often applies in her daily life.

"Hei ... I ask you to prepare Zaskia's birthday surprise instead of preparing her sister," Akbar grumbled, successfully making a couple who were intoxicated with love jump in surprise. Firman filled with anger and Ayu stared at the man who didn't feel guilty at all.

"I forgot my cell phone," Akbar smirked then grabbed his cell phone which was lying on the living room table.

Unintentionally Akbar's eyes fell on the bottle of medicine that Ayu was taking from Firman's hand. Akbar wants to ask about the capsule, but Firman first gives the code to wait for him outside.

Like it or not, Akbar just obeyed the word of Firman rather than die young because he was so curious.

Now Firman and Akbar are on the terrace of the house.

"Here, you try to find out if this is really a vitamin or a drug!" said Firman while giving some samples of the vitamin capsules he had taken secretly when Ayu was hugging him. Akbar accepts the parcel with many question marks in his mind.

"Abi... Droplets!" Zaskia shouted loudly at Manda's lap. Akbar left after patting Firman on the shoulder and reassuring that Ayu would be fine.

"Bi, use a seatbelt please?" Kia asked as Akbar started running his iron carriage again.

Akbar's hand reached out to stroke Zaskia's long hair, "Yes, honey!" The corner of Akbar's eyes caught the change in Manda's face which suddenly clouded, "What are you doing, Manda?" Manda blinked her eyes a few times because she felt shocked because she heard Akbar's words.

She turned Zaskia's position to face him, she trimmed the little girl's hair while kissing the girl's head and forehead several times.

"She's already six years old, but she doesn't speak fluently, Bar!" Manda whispered as she put Zaskia's head on her chest. Manda loves Zaskia like her own child. Lucky you Zaskia Azzahra Khumairah got a lot of love from people around you.

"Ayu is trying to heal her, hopefully with Firman's presence back in their midst it will make Zaskia's spirit to heal even stronger," Akbar explained with a look that was difficult for Manda to read.

Akbar stepped on the brake slowly in front of the courtyard of a pharmacy, making Manda and Zaskia together, frowning their foreheads.

"Why stop here, Bar?" asked Manda.
