Chapter 64 - 64. His only ray of sunshine..

Kevin's expression changed when he heard Mo Ling's question.

He kept silent for a while and thought of his bitter past.

His father wanted a normal life. So he married a girl from an average family who he loved with all his heart.

But his fate as a Smith family's son didn't allow him to lead a happy life.

The power struggle within the family shadowed him to the end even though he expressed his will to not fight for the heir position just like him.

Due to a series of unfortunate 'incidents' that happened to his father, his already soft hearted and sensitive mother went into depression.

When he was eighteen she passed away. Up until then he saw his father accompanying his mother with a heavy heart.

Maybe because he experienced such a sad atmosphere growing up, he wanted to help people who's struggling with psychological issues.

But, the incident that completely shattered him was where his father went into a coma trying to protect his cousin.

That time he felt like he became an orphan. All alone without any warmth of a family.

If it wasn't for Bi Yuhan, he would've been buried in that hell.

At the thought of his cousin, he has complicated feelings about her. He loved to tease her in the past. She's a ray of sunshine in that darkness of the time.

But after his father became like that, although he didn't hate her.. he just..

His cousin..

Mora..

He abruptly stepped on the breaks of the car and turned to look at the girl beside him.

Yes, the girl before him is similar to the girl in his memories. Just a slight difference.

Now he knew why he felt familiar when he looked at her face.

"Oh, sorry. I guess I crossed the line." Mo Ling came back to her senses and apologized for her rudeness.

She's a stranger who he met a few days before. So he's not obliged to answer his personal questions.

Kevin shook his head and turned to start the car again.

'She not her. I heard that Mora was dead. It can't be her.'

He oddly felt disappointed when he thought of that.

'I guess, I'm just missing that ray of sunshine.'

He smiled bitterly to himself and drove in silence.

After five minutes, they reached the entrance of Capital University. It's built on a few acres of land.

They entered through the gate and stopped at the security to wait for the permit of entry.

As soon as they came to a halt, Mo Ling detected a slight killing intent directed at Kevin. Then it disappeared without a trace after that.

'That guy, he's capable. No wonder her uncle uses him as a killing machine.'

Mo Ling smirked with a glint passing through her eyes.

'My lovely uncle, I'll soon send you a gift. I hope you'll like it and my good intentions are well received. After all, I'm going to put some effort into it.'

A trace of intense hatred almost leaked out from her. She adjusted her mindset and soon turned normal.
