The message that stated he just killed a second stage zombie made Viktor's lips curl in a victorious grin. It seemed that his risky gamble had paid off, quite a big one at that.
No wonder he obtained a lot of points from killing it. The orb from the creature gave him three points of endurance and five points of spirit force, different stats to what he gained from the mutated rabbit.
Zombies could be seen as an undying creature, hence it was normal that Viktor obtained some endurance bonus from defeating it. Meanwhile, the mutated rabbit, once an agile prey animal that became vicious due to the energy in the air, was a quick creature, hence he obtained some agility points.
From this data, Viktor could safely assume that he could gain points in strength by killing animals like a bear or a tiger.
However, the message also states that he was now in the middle stage mortal realm. A new term that he didn't know what it meant exactly.
"Djinn, What the fuck does that mean?"
"…"
Viktor stared at the message as it disappeared, thinking about what he had just heard. As he did, the Djinn also confirmed that with each stage he passed, he would receive a large boost in battle power. Hence, he obtained 10 points that he could freely distribute as a reward.
[10 points to distribute]
[Strength - 12 ]
[Agility - 16 ]
[Endurance - 17]
[Battle power - 15]
[Spirit force - 10]
The points are most likely the key for him to survive the night, but the question remains, where should he put his points to receive the most benefit?
Viktor rubbed the back of his head, staring at the stats in front of him in deep thought.
Perhaps, the safest option was to spread out the points in order to cover all possible scenarios, but as he stared at the desert eagle in his hand, he quickly changed that way of thinking.
The weapon would cover his firepower for now, and there probably wouldn't be much benefit to increase his strength as long as he has the gun as his main weapon.
But on the other hand, his strength was indeed lacking. After all, it wouldn't hurt to spend some points on it. Besides, he needed to know how much each point of increase in strength would affect his body.
Hence, all these things considered, he decided to distribute his 10 points into this configuration: 3 points to strength, 4 to agility, and 3 to endurance.
[Strength - 15 ]
[Agility - 20 ]
[Endurance - 20]
[Battle power - 18]
[Spirit force - 10]
[Mortal realm - mid stage]
As soon as he allocated the points and confirmed the distribution, Viktor could feel apparently power coursing through his veins as his muscles stiffened. It was a great feeling, and it would be a lie to say that he did not wish to try out his new capabilities right away.
[You have 50 minutes left]
However, time is of the essence, and the notification that popped up in his mind acted as a reminder that his death draws ever nearer. The noise of his gunshot earlier had definitely made his current location dangerous, and it was high time to leave before he and his team got surrounded by zombies.
He decided to go to the spot where he was separated from Captain Patroski, only to see a group consisting of half a dozen zombies making their way towards him. Even so, this sight oddly didn't faze him.
With his newfound strength and agility, Viktor was able to draw his knife and stab the group of zombies on the head with relative ease, taking them down one by one like taking out trash.
None of the half dozen zombies even managed to touch Viktor as his figure flickered around them. His improved agility enabled him to dodge and strike with precision. Now in his eyes, the zombies seemed slower than before, and that only made it easier for him to subdue them even before Boris arrived.
"Young master… how did you…?" asked Boris with a dumbfounded look as he looked at the sight of Viktor standing in the middle of the dead zombies unscathed.
The ex special force bodyguard was both surprised and amazed at his skill, but Viktor had no answer to offer when he noticed the look on the former's face. After all, he had just discovered his new power.
In the meantime, from the 6 undead Viktor had killed himself, he unfortunately only had two orbs flying towards him. Moreover, there was no notification appearing.
He was confused as to why, but he could ask the Djinn later about it. For now, he decided not to think about it too much and ran ahead once more, only to find another dozen undead shambling in front of him.
He wondered for a moment if they were there because they were attracted by his previous gunshot, but as they ignored him and walked to another direction, he smiled at the opportunity.
A dozen zombies, all ignoring him and having their back pointed at him. Viktor could see a golden opportunity literally served on a silver platter in front of his eyes, and there was no way he would let this go to waste.
Using his speed and agility, he started killing the zombies one by one, careful not to make too much noise and attract the other zombie's attention.
Splattt!!
Within a few minutes, all the twelve undead were laying on the ground motionless, each with a gaping hole in their head.
Under the darkness, Viktor glanced at his hand and saw it was covered in rotten blood and pieces of brain matter. The nasty smell sharply pierced his nose, it was so disgusting that he almost threw up. Fortunately, he managed to hold it in at the last second.
"Ew! It's really disgusting…" He waved his hand, and the blood and bits splattered to the ground. "I need to have a 5 days flower bath after this."
He got at least 4 orbs, flying towards him but just like before, he only received one notification.
[You have received the spirit energy human undead - level 2]
[You have received 1 points in endurance]
[You have received 1 points of spirit force]
"What the… what's going on, Djinn!? After all that trouble, I only get one point?!"
This revelation was something to be expected, to say the least.
After he killed the second stage zombie, the normal first stage zombies wouldn't really affect Viktor much. Nevertheless, the fact that he won't receive anything substantial from killing weaker opponents pissed him off.
Viktor absentmindedly walked away from the place, and when he realized it, he found himself standing in front of a cliff. He had unconsciously followed a rumbling sound heard from a distance.
Curious, he walked to the edge and looked down, only to be greeted by a shocking sight.
Thousands of undead had gathered on the bottom of the cliff. A quick glance was enough for him to tell that there were at least a few dozen of the stage two red-skinned ones in the midst, too.
It was a horrifying scene, and in the sea of zombies, he saw a shadow blanketing some of them. He followed the shadow, only to see a massive figure that made his heart almost stop beating.
He could recognize it, it was the black abomination that tried to kill him in his first life. Another careful look, and he realized the horde was headed towards where the bunker is.
"Blyat!!"
