Chapter 148 - Chapter 148: Charles Doing The Thing

This was the first time Charles had come into contact with Jean's second personality.

It was a personality that appeared when Jean was in danger, or when she was agitated, and when she appeared, her true power would explode, bringing danger to those around her.

The reason for the emergence of this personality is that after hurting her parents by accident when she awakened her powers, she became afraid of the harm her powers would cause to those around her and suppressed it for a long time.

As her powers begin to flare up, she panics.

Often this is the moment when those close to her are hurt.

But the next moment, the power inside her was calmed down.

Charles released her hand, smiled at Jean and said, "Don't worry, it's okay."

Jean looked at Charles with surprise and could not help but exclaim, "That's wonderful!"

Charles smiled at his opponent, then cupped his chin and sank into thought.

The situation was a little troubling.

The second personality held the true power of her, and if there was any intention to harm her, or to erase the second personality, the true power of her would explode.

In that case, it might cause harm to her.

But if the second personality is not erased, then if Jean uses her power, she may go berserk if she is not careful, and she will not be able to control her power at all.

Charles pondered quietly, and after seeing this scene, Jean sat quietly with her happy heart.

After a few minutes, Charles came up with a gentle solution, but it required a decision from Jean.

He looked at Jean, who was a little uneasy, and looked at her gently, "Don't worry, I'm not hurt, it's just that now you need to make a choice."

Jean guessed, "Something to do with my power?"

"Yes."

Charles nodded and told his partner what he had found.

Jean lapsed into silence, then memories she had forgotten began to flash and her power began to flare up again.

Just then, Charles' voice appeared in her mind, waking her up.

In an instant, the power began to subside and Jean took a breath with some difficulty and said to Charles, "Professor Charles, what do you want to do? I will cooperate fully."

"I intend to create a mental cage to seal off your second personality, and then you will begin to familiarise yourself with your powers until you are capable of taking all the power she controls over yourself." (A/N: Shiiit~)

Jean thought for a moment and said, "Yes! Shall we start now? What do I need to do?"

Charles smiled slightly, reached out and placed his hands on his partner's temples and said, "Keep yourself as calm as possible."

"Yes!" Jean answered, took a deep breath and said, "I'm ready!"

As soon as the words were out of her mouth, she felt a wave of psychic power that scared her, even terrified her, rush through her mind.

She didn't think about anything but kept herself as calm as possible.

Suddenly, without her control, she found her power surging again, growing stronger and stronger, causing her to slowly feel the pain.

Just then, a powerful force came over her and pushed down the power that had been surging out of her control.

She breathed a quiet sigh of relief as she heard Charles' voice again.

"That's it, but you'll have to take it one step at a time as you practice your powers."

Overjoyed, Jean said excitedly, "Thank you, Professor Charles."

Charles gave a smile, happy that he could help this child.

This was the first step in his career as a teacher. (A/N: That is the first step on how to have a Cosmic Entity hunting up your ass)

...

In Manhattan, in one of Mike's residences.

It's dinner time again and Mike picks up his phone and heads out.

He didn't want to make a meal for one person, he couldn't bring himself to do it.

It was a good thing he lived in a place where there were many restaurants to choose from.

The phone rang suddenly.

An unfamiliar number.

Mike froze for a moment, and then a glow of joy appeared on his face.

Was it Clark?

He picked it up in a hurry.

"Sir, would you like to buy a house?"

The corners of Mike's mouth twitched and he hung up the phone.

Buy a house? Buy a house for you to live in?

I have more houses than any of your agents, do I need to buy a house?

He muttered in a low voice.

RIIIING, RIIIING, RIIIING!

The phone rang again.

Mike looked at it and saw that it was another unknown number.

He was about to hang up when his fingers suddenly stopped.

He had nothing to do now anyway, so it was nice to have someone to nag.

Picking up the phone, he said, "That, the house for sale, I'm ...."

"Dad?"

"Clark?"

"It's me, how are you?" Clark said, a little worried, "You don't want anyone fooling you into selling your house."

The corner of Mike's mouth twitched and he said, "Am I that stupid?"

Clark snickered and said, "Did you get the pictures I sent you?"

In all his years on the outside, he had taken a lot of pictures and sent them all to Mike.

"New photos? Not yet, I'll check them out later."

Clark's photos must have been sent to his family's farm and that's why they hadn't arrived.

A thought flashed through Mike's mind and he said, "Where are you now?"

"In Africa." Clark said, "There's a lot of places around here that don't have a signal."

Mike sat down on the couch and listened to Clark's voice as it steadied again and said, "Are you okay?"

"Yeah." Clark responded and began to tell Mike some of the interesting stories from the trip.

Mike listened, occasionally echoing and occasionally smiling happily.

After a few minutes, Clark hung up the phone.

With a smile on his face, Mike put the phone away and was in a very happy mood.

Humming an unknown tune, Mike walked out of the room and, after a quick glance to see that no one was looking, he shot up and disappeared through the doorway, heading for the farm.

After getting the pictures from Clark, he looked them over at his home on the farm, put them away and left them in Clark's room before flying back to New York.

Since receiving his new powers, he had been using his teleportation deck less and less.

Mike found a restaurant and gone for a meal, and headed for the nearest supermarket, intending to buy himself some wine and snacks to eat while watching the basketball game tonight.

Just as he finished his shopping, paid for his purchases, and had just reached the door of the supermarket, a shot rang out along with a shriek, and the scene became unbelievably chaotic.

Suddenly, with a cold look in his eyes, Mike took out a can of beer and threw it.

Whoosh!

The beer slammed into a man with a pistol, sending him flying before the gun went off.

"Bang!"

The man fell to the ground, bloodied and unconscious.

Mike grunted softly.

The man should have been lucky that he had just thrown a can of beer at him.
