There was another meeting between Dome's friends today.
"We were serious about separating the duo," said Afrakoma. "I'm still bent on doing that."
"Count me out," said Nhyira
"Me too," said Bee Nana.
"After all they have been through, only the devil will still be willing to put more coals on the fire," said Adotey who dreaded the consequences of messing up with the duo.
"Come on! Don't you know I have eyes for Dome?" said Afrakoma.
"Then you're on your own," said Bee Nana.
"If you were interested in him, why didn't you follow up on him when he went to the hospital?" said Nhyira. "After all these years? What if he has a relapse? Will you still be interested?"
"By that time, I would have gotten what I wanted?" said Afrakoma.
"That shows the kind of girl you are!" said Adotey.
I don't care if I'm on my own. I'll still give it a shot. Thought Afrakoma.
Dome dressed up feverishly. It was another beautiful day to see a lovely lady recuperating wonderfully. Looking in the mirror, he checked his beard once again. Is it straight? Have I combed my hair well enough? He asked himself.
"You look awesome!" said a voice behind him. "You don't need to overdo it!" Dome ogled at the figure behind him.
"How did you get here?" he asked, stunned.
"I came to see you!" she said, poking her finger at his chest. "And what's with that look? Don't you remember me anymore?"
Memories of his friends came rushing through his mind? Who was this girl? The last group picture they took together filled his thoughts. He closed his eyes for a second.
"Afrakoma?"
"You got it right," she said, exhilarated. "And where do you think you're going dressed up like that?"
Dome hesitated a little bit. That was none of her business.
"Somewhere special," he said. "And you're not invited.
There was a faint knock on the door. The door opened of its own accord. Howbeit, Dome knew who it was. It was his special angel coming to prompt him. He was late for the date.
"Can I come in?" she said softly.
"Of course, you can."
Upon seeing Afrakoma, Mamle thought something was going on between them and suddenly retreated.
"No, my dear. It's not what you think." Bringing her back in with his two hands, virtually begging her to stay. Mamle held her head. The scene which separated them suddenly played itself like a flash of lightning.
"Was she the one?" she asked. "Why would you put me through this all over again?" Afrakoma was excited. This was exactly what she wanted.
"You're not going to win this time!" he said sternly. "You had better leave this place. " Nuuuurse!" A female nurse came with the rush of the wind.
"What can I do for you? Your call seemed urgent." Dome ogled at Afrakoma.
"Oh! Is she intruding?" Dome nodded.
"Who let you in by the way? Madam?" the nurse asked.
"I let myself in."
"It's against the rules. Please help yourself out and never do that again." Afrakoma walked out. This is not going to be the last! She said to herself and walked out to prevent a scene. By the time Afrakoma left the scene, Mamle was crying.
"Please don't cry," said Dome. "I will never leave you. I promise!"
"We will make sure the two of you have the soundest minds to date each other once again," said the nurse. "You two are lovely together"
