Chapter 132 - Another Stupid Mistake

Another stupid mistake. Varvara kept cursing herself in her mind. What the hell was wrong with her? She wasn't used to being that careless before. Maybe it was the stress of being on the run that caused her to be making these foolish mistakes.

She had to act fast. Thank goodness she brought with her a vinegar solution. She took out the card and poured the solution on a damp cloth, then she thoroughly cleaned the card with it, wiping off any of her fingerprints.

Then she removed the chocolate bar from the wrapper and wrapped the card with it before she stood from her seat and walked to the trash bin. She kept an eye on the woman and dropped the card, she walked back to her seat immediately.

Meanwhile, the security lady spotted her from her peripheral vision. At this point, Varvara's heart was beating erratically. However, she appeared calm on the outside.

"Hello lady. I'm sorry to disturb you, but do you by any chance bought anything in that vending machine over there?" She asked. "No, I haven't actually. I didn't feel the need to eat anything, given that my flight was interrupted", she feigned annoyance.

"I'm sorry for the inconvenience. The plane would take off in the next hour, now that the weather is favourable. Thank you for your time", she smile and walked away, much to Varvara's relief.

It was a close call. However, she still wasn't safe. The information on the card was still on that vending machine. Unless she carried it away, which was impractical, there was no way she could erase her fingerprint from it.

By the next hour, the weather was declared safe to fly. Varvara headed to her plane, and moments later, the plane took off into the sky.

Friday.

Just like any other day, today was as very busy. The smell of apple pie was everywhere in the house, causing Sophia to smile in her sleep. It was going to be a great day.

Her phone's alarm rang, and she opened her eyes and got up from her bed robotically. She tapped her phone's screen, silencing it before rushing downstairs and kissing Beatrice's cheeks.

Her phone's alarm rang, and she opened her eyes and got up from her bed robotically. She tapped her phone's screen, silencing it before rushing downstairs and kissing Beatrice's cheeks.

"Morning Beatrice", she smiled cheekily. "Ooh someone's happy this morning", Beatrice raised her brow. "Why wouldn't I be? It's a day before the end of this year", she couldn't stop smiling.

She dipped her hand in the cookie paste and licked it, groaning in satisfaction. "Delicious as ever", she complimented her, and she smiled in response. Her mom came out of her room and to the kitchen and met the two there.

"Morning mom. Beatrice is making pie", Sophia said. "Oh is she? No wonder the house smells good", she said. "I'm making two variations of pie. An apple-flavoured and a tomato-flavoured pie", Beatrice said.

"What?!" The mother and daughter exclaimed in unison. "I'm just kidding. It's apple and chocolate flavoured", she burst out in laughter. "I cannot even imagine how a tomato-flavoured pie would taste like", Sophia laughed and squeezed her face.

Turning to Sophia, she said, "Sophia, I'll be heading to Anna's place later. It was adjourned to 04:00 pm,". Anna was the name of Daniel's mom. Her full name was Annabelle, but she wasn't comfortable bearing that name, so she shortened it to Anna.

"Mom, I've changed my mind. I would love to attend that dinner", Sophia said. "Really?" Her mom asked in delight. "Sure mom", Sophia chuckled. "Someone's happy this morning", her mom raised her brow.

"That's what I said earlier", Beatrice interjected. "Mom?"

"What's it dear?"

"Can I have your permission to go out with Jennifer?", Sophia asked with an expectant face. "Is it to the hospital?"

"Yes", Sophia replied half-truthfully. While she would head over to the hospital to check on Katie, she would branch to "Sure you can. Just be back at three, alright?"

"Sure, thanks mom", Sophia said gratefully. Now that one was settled, she went back to her room and turned on her PC for any new messages. There was none.

"I hope you honour my appointment Simon", she thought hopefully and closed her laptop.

08:22 am. She has a lot in her book today. She went to the bathroom and came out refreshed. As soon as she was done dressing, she took her handbag and slung it over her shoulders and left her room.

"Bye, mom. Bye Beatrice", she waved them goodbye and boarded the limousine. Moments later, the limousine stopped in front of Jennifer's house. Jennifer who was already waiting at the doorstep walked to the car and opened the backdoor and joined Sophia.

"Alright next stop, to the hospital", Sophia said to the chauffeur.

Soon, the limousine started moving. Jennifer shuffled her bag and took out a small card that was handwritten with "Get well soon" text and handed one copy to Sophia. "Forgive me, I didn't have the time to add designs, at least I have good handwriting", she said smugly.

"Don't praise yourself girl. You have the handwriting of a mentally insane gecko", Sophia laughed. "Oh come on. You're being creatively awful", Jennifer feigned depression.

"I'm kidding. She'll love it", Sophia placed the card on her bag and zipped it back. Then, her smile dropped. "Do you think he would come?"

"Huh?"

"Simon. Do you think he'd come?" Sophia asked. "There's no need to bother yourself with things you can't control. Come on Sophie, you were just glowing just now. Don't let these things dim your shine", Jennifer scolded.

"You're right", Sophia sighed. "I'm always right", Jennifer said with a smirk.

Ten minutes later, they arrived at the hospital. After they signed into the hospital, they headed to Katie's ward and handed her the get-well card.

"I didn't have the time to decorate it. Someone forgot to print it", Sophia gave Jennifer a stink eye. "Sophia, we'd discussed it", Jennifer punched her lightly.

Katie laughed heartily and held the card to her chest. "It doesn't matter how ugly it is. I love it", she said weakly and sat on the bed. "Thank you for coming", she added.

"Come on don't say that. It's always our pleasure coming", Sophia waved it off.
