It was a bright, sunny Saturday, and Sophia was excited to submit her recent research to her science teacher. She hastily plugged in her pc and carefully sorted the documents before printing them out in colours.
She examined the papers and smiled. "Perfect", she said and put it away in her school bag. She was very giddy throughout last week. For a second, she could not believe she made a breakthrough in WBE (Whole Brain Emulation). It was simply a process of making an exact copy of the brain structures and accurately emulating them to a computer.
The idea was to take a full copy of the brain, including the memories and consciousness and transfer them to a surrogate brain, and this would begin the era of digital immortality.
Of course, this would take a long time to fully be implemented, but the fact that Sophia had figured out a way to counter this challenge would close the gap further.
Sophia uploaded the softcopy to her science teacher's email and turned off her laptop. She lay on her bed and smiled blissfully. "Imagine I get a noble award for this discovery", she sighed and close her eyes.
Suddenly her phone rang. She picked it up and saw it was from her nanny. She frowned and answer the call. "Sophie, are you not going to the lesson today? You will be late", she exclaimed.
Ohh damn! Sophia bounced out of the bed and ran to the bathroom, and ten minutes later, she ran out of her room with her plastic bag, almost tripping in her shoes.
"I totally forgot about my dance lesson! Jeez." She said as she looked at her time in her golden watch. She was four minutes late.
"Don't worry, I'll pack your lunch", the nanny said with a deep British accent. Sophia smiled and gave her a kiss on the cheek. "Thank you aunt Beatrice" she smiled and ran out to the limousine where the chauffeur was waiting for her.
Unlike the books she read and the movies she watches that depicted the unfriendliness towards the nanny, Sophia had a good relationship with Beatrice. She saw her as a mentor, even though she never went to school. Of course, this was the person that took care of her all her life, so she would rightly say she was closer to her than anyone, even her mom.
Arriving at the venue, she rushed out of the limousine and ran to the big studio inside an exquisite building. By the time she arrived at the hall, the lesson had commenced.
"Alright let's take it to the top!" The female ballet mistress clapped and spoke loudly with a French accent. Sophia tried to sneak in behind the mistress, but unfortunately, the mistress had sharp ears. Without looking back, she said, "You're late, Sophia".
Sophia sighed and bowed her head. "I'm humbly sorry madam Annette, I… stayed up late at night." The mistress paused the music playing and looked at Sophia.
"And what were you doing in the night that would cause you to come late to class for the fourth time? If your dad knows about this, he would not be happy", the mistress said staring at Sophia's eyes.
'He cannot know about this, please. I promise, it won't happen again", Sophia pleaded. The ballet mistress stared at her for five seconds without saying anything, then walked to the middle of the studio. "I hope you keep your promises this time", she replied back before clapping twice, causing the rest of the attendants who was sitting to stand up.

"Alright, Sophia you're up!" The ballet mistress said, causing Sophia's mind to jolt back to reality. "Alright madam Annette", Sophia stood up and walked to the middle of the studio, with everyone in the studio surrounding her.
"Start from the top", Annette said and played the music from a music system. Sophia made a Relevé position, then began moving graciously. The mistress looked at her without showing any expressions, but the students were ohhing and aahhing throughout her dance session.
The male ballet students were drooling her eyes over her as she graciously moved her body. "Damn, I wish I would partner with her on our next couple dance, she is absolutely amazing", one of the male dancers commented, admiring her.
"Nah that wouldn't happen. She is very pretty, so she would probably be wary of any males trying to approach her, besides the mistress would not even allow us to even get close to these girls", another male said with a curled lip.
A girl listening to their conversation almost vomited blood. "What makes you think she is better at dancing than me? Take a look at her body structure, she is not even biologically capable of dancing at all. I am the best of the best, and no one can outperform me idiots", the tall girl said and ignored them.
The first boy looked at her and shrugged. "Then I'll choose to be with a biologically incapable dancer to a girl that can't even fix her mole on her belly."
The rest of the boys opened their eyes and laughed at the tall girl, causing her to almost lash out on them.
"Alright, that's enough!" The ballet mistress said to Sophia, who was dancing for almost twenty minutes. "Thank you, madam Annette,", Sophia said, almost collapsing to the ground. Her legs were practically incapable of supporting her weight anymore.
"Take your rest, because we are all doing the Fouette. Any of you that can last more than fifteen seconds performing that move goes home", the mistress said as she approach the centre of the studio.
Sophia groaned inwardly. She was already light-headed, and now she was about to spin for a complete fifteen seconds. It looks like she would faint again!
