Chapter 1 - Loneliness

James Smith looked at his creation with sheer excitement. He could not believe he pulled it off. At the current age of 12, he had just built his very first humanoid robot machine. "Copying installation log to server", the robot beeped as soon as it made its final adjustment to its metal body. James hurriedly moved to his PC clicked with a huge smile on his lips as he began to read the logs that his beloved robot had sent to his PC. "Wait what?" was what he said while he was reading on line 24, he noticed something weird on the log file. Then his smile froze.

The Smiths moved to England's capital, the UK when he was 4 because of his father's travelling business. So, he spent most of his childhood there. When he clocked 7, his parent began to notice that he was different. He does not act like his age at all, his parent often said, and he rarely smile. James had already matured mentally in his seventh year.

Though his attitude is not like an adult, understood things even an adult could not fully comprehend. He was unusually smart, with an IQ rating of 164. So consequently, he had no friends at all, but it didn't bother James at all. So, he spent most of his time in his home to use his mother's PC.

James could not explain it, but he loved computers. He was fascinated by both computer's hardware and software, and he spends a big chunk of his time either learning how to code or removing parts of his mother's PC and assembling them back.

His mother did not like the fact that her work laptop is always dismembered, so she bought him a Dell 2022 model PC as his birthday present. Ever since he never leaves his house for any reason, only when he went to school.

Mary, James mother was a blogger while his father Andrew was a marine biologist. So, the Smiths family lived fairly better than an average class family. Though Mary spends most of her time writing blogs, she still spends time with her only son. Her son may not be like any other kids in her neighbourhood, she still loved him dearly.

From time to time, she tells James about how unique her son is, and how special he is to her. Even if she had wanted to give James a sibling, she could not get pregnant again after many tries, so she channelled all her love to her only son.

After his tenth birthday, his parent decided that he should change from a public to a private school. His mum believed that private schools offer more quality education than public ones given her son's unique situation. This is where James nightmare began.

As a black kid, he had been bullied most of his childhood years not only because of his racial background but his unusual situation. Even though he had reported those incidents to his teachers, they could not do anything about it, so James decided to endure this pain silently. That was until he was informed he was switching schools.

On the day of his resumption, Mary drove him to the new school for his final registration and introduction. James usually kept a poker face, but this time, nervousness was brewing inside of him. His mother looked into her rearview mirror with a solemn expression. "Are you okay honey?", she asked.

Admittedly, James doesn't even know. He does not even know the kind of people he was going to meet, or the kind of teachers, or the kind of class, or the kind of teaching curriculum. But as usual, he usually wore a calm and peaceful demeanour. He looked at his mom back and smiled, "I'm fine. Don't worry about me okay?", He slowly said. His mom smiled back and continued driving and stole a glance one more time before focusing on the road.

James took his android smartphone and plugged in his earpiece. He played his favourite song as the car kept humming silently on the road. James was not excited about switching to a private school. He remembered every word when his parent first told him the news. "Mom, but why am I switching school? I liked my current school", he said looking at his parents in tears.

His father sighed and looked at his wife, then replied, "James, hey look at me. Look we love you so much, but you have no idea why we are doing this now but trust me you will thank me later. Even you have more than once reported to us that your peers bully you in your school. But we want to end this for your sake." Andrew said solemnly, and added "You know I will not do anything that would bring you pain right? Please give this new school a chance okay?".

James nodded and sniffed. He knew his parents loved him, but the thing is that they don't understand him at all, but he could not blame them at all. Once upon a time, he rushed to the balcony where his father was working on his MacBook and asked him for something. "Dad please can you buy me a DDR4 32 GB RAM and a 1 terabyte SSD please" drawing the please word. "DD-what?" Andrew asked confused. "A DDR4 RAM. Don't you know it?" James looked at his father slightly disappointed. Ever since he had never asked his parent for anything only for allowance.

James was on his sixth music when his mum car pulled over to a parking lot. He stopped his music and came down the car. He looked up and was greeted by a massive building on his right. 'Damn' he silently exclaimed. This was a four-story building with many countries flags beautifully arranged in their alphabetical order. James followed his mom to the Administration Office in silence as he was overwhelmed by the scenery of the school. The air smelled like lavender as a gentle breeze blew past him ruffling the garden-like field nearby. 'This is heaven on earth he thought.
