The imperial city at night was very different from the day. The route between Yuyang Palace and Qianqing Palace wasn't a long one but Yan Zheyun had to avoid using the main streets as much as he could, making a big loop sometimes in a bid to avoid patrolling guards as much as he could. When he couldn't, the best thing he could do was to behave as calmly as possible.
