Lui Feng walked into the dungeon and saw the man who dared to issue a threat to him, he was the only link they found to the letter and the fact that it was slightly difficult to find him made him suspicious. He was on his knees pleading for mercy and the Alpha didn't even bat an eye at the man, instead, he stared at him like he was filth with rage evident in his eyes.
He walked towards the man and held the collar of the shirt. He knew this man couldn't have been the one to write the letter himself unless he had a death wish. And he wasn't powerful enough to conceal himself so well, someone would have sent him but instead of revealing the truth and saving him the trouble the man was here begging for mercy.
"Who's your Master?" he inquired, he had likely suspects but he wanted to be sure who it was. It had been almost ten seconds and the man was shivering contemplating what to do, it seemed like he would have to be a bit more convincing.
"Break all his fingers", he said nonchalantly, it was something the man would have to go through for daring to not answer. The Alpha's words terrified the man, he hadn't expected to be caught, nonetheless tortured.
The next moment all that was heard were the agonizing screams of the man in pain, streams of tears came down his face and the Alpha's men watched him pitifully. After seven of his fingers were gone the man finally surrendered and agreed to tell him.
"It was Lui Shui who ordered for me to write the letter. He claimed he'd have my life if I told anyone, please spare me I have a mate and we're expecting some pups soon", he begged with tears filling his eyes.
Lui Feng looked at him unfazed and gave the signal for him to be killed and disposed of. The man noticing this begged, cursed, and did all he could to no avail and the Alpha left the room immersed in his thoughts.
He thought Lui Shui was just joking when he said he wanted her, he knew there was something about Lui Shui and Lady Li Jing but he never found out since she never told him. This was not a situation he had considered he'd find himself in at least not this early.
"F***!", he cursed, she was in danger again because of him who knew what Lui Shui was capable of, and his hands were tied.
He couldn't stop Lui Shui now as he didn't have enough evidence against him to present to the council and even if he did, it would put her in a lot more danger as Lui Shui would be regarded as an outcast giving him the power to do whatever he wanted, without much consequences.
The best thing was to tell her so he wouldn't put her in danger since she would be aware of the situation but he couldn't bring himself to do so. He couldn't do it right now since he didn't have the power to ensure her safety, last time he was sure he could, and look where that got him, he wouldn't be so careless this time around.
After a few minutes of rational thinking, he figured the best solution was to tighten the security around her and keep his distance from her so she wouldn't easily be tracked, he immediately called Aiguo.
The next morning Ying Yue woke up full of excitement for the new day today she was going to pick out furniture for the restaurant. While Lui Feng woke up anxious and had called Aiguo like four times in five minutes he was scared of losing her again, the pack looked shocked as they'd never seen their master pacing around the room.
All through the day nothing happened as Ying Yue and Lui Feng lived their separate lives normally without any disturbance. Lui Feng had concluded that Lui Shui was bluffing, the threat letter had bound him but that didn't mean it was going to happen tonight. He couldn't stop thinking about it though, something felt eerie about tonight he could feel it.
At eleven o'clock at night, a strange call woke Ying Yue up and she rubbed her eyes frustration from being woken up from her sleep written all over her face. Who could be calling her at this time, the person better have something important to say, or else.
"Hello", she asked fatigue noticeable in her voice as she yawned before the other side replied in a strange manner.
"Come out of the house Miss Jiang Ying Yue", the man at the other side of the line said repeatedly in a hypnotic voice and as if in a trance she got out of the house dressed in her pajamas and walked towards the the door of her house and went outside. Aiguo and some men followed her to a dark alley when suddenly she disappeared and they couldn't find her anymore.
Aiguo had an uneasy feeling about the situation. This was a technique that couldn't be used by any wolf not even him. Master was going to kill them, but he had no choice but to call him.
Ying Yue suddenly came back to her senses and realized she was in a dark alley, wondering how she got here she decided to go back but anytime she went to where she thought was the exit she would end up coming back where she started which was driving her crazy.
Then she began to hear voices calling out to her taunting her, reminding her how alone she was in this world, now she was sure she was going crazy. She sat down in a corner and held her knees and buried her face in them reassuring herself that this was just a nightmare and she would wake up soon.
"Li Jing, Ying Yue you thought you could deny me and get away with it, well you know... now it's either you or me and I choose me, how could you do this to yourself?" the voice said over and over.
Then she felt like she was surrounded she could hear more voices they were quiet but she could hear them, she tried to cover her ears but they had gotten into her head the only thought in her head was 'Lui Feng come save me' but no one came.
She wanted to believe that this was a nightmare but it felt too real, she kept hoping for someone to come get her out of here but still no one. The clock struck midnight and she was finally able to see the people who were hiding in the shadows torturing her, one of them had a striking resemblance to Lui Feng and the rest were members of the Jiang family snickering at her.
"My dear Li Jing, too bad this is your last day we could have gotten to know each other in your new form but you still clung to my brother, once again you chose before I even got the chance to be an option. You hurt me so now I'm going to hurt you", said Lui Shui his voice echoing around her and the laughter driving her mad.
Ying Yue screamed as loud as possible however it dawned on her that no one could hear her, if they could she would have been saved right now. She immediately stopped screaming for help and wiped her tears which shocked Lui Shui. Her brain had got into fight or flight mode she needed to do something.
She stood up looking into Lui Shui's eyes. She has a feeling that whatever he was he wasn't physically here though. Despite that, she could feel his want to destroy her from her mind or soul, for a reason she wasn't aware of. Which was to prevent her from being reincarnated again
"Get out of my head", screamed Ying Yue for a moment there Lui Shui saw Lady Li Jing from that day, the day he tried to kill her but instead she sacrificed herself which hurt him immensely. Before he knew it a white light enveloped him setting ablaze the part of him that was present in her mind in her mind.
After a while, the real Lui Shui woke up groaning as he felt a sudden pain in his head. A part of him had been destroyed but he had already been dead to himself ever since that day and the only way he could regain what he lost was by killing that girl's reincarnation, or so he thought.
Lui Feng was at the alley trying his best to wake her up, she sat almost lifeless but he could hear her heartbeat she was breathing slowly but she wasn't moving. He was on the verge of breaking down, he wasn't ready to lose her, not again.
He decided to carry her back to the mansion to get her treated but all the pack doctors couldn't do anything about it, they felt very disappointed in themselves for not being able to help the lady, but they weren't half as disappointed as their Alpha was.
The scenario was like she was trapped in her mind, out of anger he chased them all out and they left looking at the girl with pity but not daring to look at their master. He hugged her, and all he felt was disappointment in himself, he couldn't protect her again.
"Ying Yue, forgive me", he said and he felt her move, like she was responding to the sound of his voice he felt warmth and hope in his heart that he had never felt before.
"Ying Yue", he called out again using the softest and sweetest voice he could muster up and she slowly opened her eyes as if being woken up from her deep sleep.
"Lui Feng?" she said softly almost like a whisper, and he hugged her more tightly trying not to exert too much strength, so as not to hurt her as she was in a weak state.
He hummed in reply not willing to let go when he felt her trying to squirm away. Unexpectedly she pushed him away, he frowned like a child pouting as if she was being unfair.
"Lui Feng I saw something", she said with a serious tone and looked at him noticing a strange glimmer of fear in his eyes.
