Chapter 2 - Meeting Grandma

At the Shuhei's mansion

Natsumi was nervous. She walked back and forth, deciding if she will press the door bell or not. She argued herself for a while until the gate finally open itself.

'Where is that good for nothing Kazu. Don't he know I'm dying inside? He said that he would come early than me but it looks like I'm the only one here.'

Mr. Kawamura, who's around his 50s, which is the mansion's head butler greeted Nastumi and showed her the way. As usual, he would always have a chat with her and treated her as his own child. He would always ask about her life and their young master. Natsumi enjoyed the short talks she had everytime she go to the mansion.

"Has the young master been good to you?" He asked in concerned.

"Perhaps, he is. You don't have to worry for that idiot." This response leave him to let out a chuckle.

"That's good to know miss. I thought I had educated him in the wrong way."

"Nah. Even if he does wrong it's not entirely your fault," she paused. "Mainly that jerk ass was the one to be put on blame of course. So don't put those pressures to yourself Mr. Kawamura."

His face brighten a bit to this somehow he thinks was an encouragement statement from her.

"Thank you, young miss."

She didn't really understood what was he thanking for, so she only answered with a slight nod while scratching the back of her head.

"Mr. Kawamura, can I ask you something?"

"Sure, I'll answer it if I know."

"So urm... Why Kazu is arranged to get married by next year?" She shyly questioned, avoiding eye contact with the middle age man.

"I see. You like our young master, do ya?"

Her brow knitted as she nervously laughed.

"Whattt? There's no way I'm gonna like that silly guy!"

Mr. Kawamura only smiled while shipping both of them in his imagination.

"Mr. Kawamura, please don't tell me you're hoping for your ship to sail."

"No, young miss. You have misunderstood me. So, back to your question." He sighed before he continued .

"His grandmother wish was for him to get married before she died. She wanted someone to get rid of the overbearing coldness that our young master been keeping in him."

"You called that crazy looking fellow as a cold person? Are you kidding me?"

"However you're the only one he would put his guard down."

She laughed in disbelief. How could that good for nothing is describe as one of the cold male lead in the novel?

"I see. He hasn't been like that to you... Is it?"

"His character is more to contrast to the description you've mentioned."

"Ahhh."

...

She was taken straight to his grandmother room. In there, she saw her lying helplessly on the queen sized bee while focusing her gaze towards the window. Natsumi gently knocked on the door and waited for her to response before entering.

"Come in."

"Grandma, how are you?"

"I'm fine little girl. How about you? Is there something you want to share to me my dear?"

"I do not have but I'm really excited to meet you."

"And is that the reason why you have been idling around the gate?"

Natsumi was too stunned to speak. She knew that the security would see her walking back and fourth through the surveillance camera set by the gate. Natsumi didn't expect that his grandmother would actually bother to see people passing by the mansion. It's the security who informed about her in fact.

"Natsumi, you've been passing there for few days. Yet, you have never press on the gate door bell."

She again denied and began to think of a way to skip the question. It was true that she was the rumoured suspicious girl who have been passing by the neighborhood. However, she decided not to shame herself by saying out a lie.

"Maybe a stalker who just want to see his or her crush? I don't know what would the reason may be."

"Are you falling for my grandson?"

Natsumi excessively shook her head. Cold sweats began running down her face. She was blushing hard and fanned herself.

"Alright, I do know why you're here." Mrs. Shuhei announced while helping herself to pour for her own water.

"Is it because of my grandson marriage?"

Right at that time, someone knocked on the door and entered without permission. He is indeed that silly Kazuyoshi.

"Grandma... I would gladly pronounced that me and Natsumi are in a relationship."

"So are you two getting married to?" She excitedly asked since she was happy with the announcement.

"Grandma, we would like to take it slow. Besides we're not ready to marry." Natsumi told her before that silly prick says too much.

"Alright my dear. But control yourself. Don't get too excited and accidentally give birth before marriage."

Her advise make both of their jawline dropped. Is his grandmother overthink too much?

Both of them stay quiet until Kazuyoshi break the awkward silences.

"We already living in the modern days so it doesn't make any difference if our child is born in or outside the marriage as long as we love him or her."

For his grandmother, she was amazed with the words spoken but for Natsumi, it was like adding fuel to the fire.

"Natsumi my dear come closer." Her grandmother gestured her to come.

"Yes, grandma. What is it?" She said sitting down on the chair beside the bed.

Her grandmother gently caressed her hand and quickly took out an emerald jade necklace. She called Kazuyoshi to lend a hand. Kazuyoshi did as what is told and helped to hook the edges of her necklace.

"It suits you dumbass." He whispered in her ear.

She turn her head, facing him and spoke. "Kazu, my love. Does this seem pretty to you?"

"Of course, honey. You're gorgeous with it."

His grandmother laughed and explained that this was a necklace pass down to generations. She said it was too valuable for the family and warned her not to lose it or sell it.

Natsumi showed her thumbs up, smiling and said that she would keep it for her and Kazuyoshi daughter in the future.
