Stale air flowed through Carmella's silver hair, now caked with soot and dirt from being underneath the collapsed building. After the two reached the door Carmella pointed out earlier, Zain had to leap down a large shaft filled with debris and water. Carmella's arms were wrapped tightly around Zain's neck as she held on for dear life while plummeting into the depths below without any source of light.
"Are you sure this was a good idea?!"
"Don't talk, unless you wanna bite your tongue off!" Zain shouted back to the woman clinging onto his back like a spider monkey. Out of fear, Carmella's grip only tightened around Zain's neck as their falling speed only increased. Suddenly, her eyes that she kept shut for so long ripped themselves open as she looked up to the destroyed entryway to another room that sped past them.
"Up there! We just missed it!"
