Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Wedding

Hotel Banquet Hall, wedding scene.

"Why hasn't the groom arrived yet?"

"At this point, I'm afraid he might be running away from the wedding!"

"This Sanchez Family's Oldest Daughter is 25 and still can't get married..."

The strange gazes all fell on Amelia Sanchez, who was wearing a simple white wedding dress at the main seat.

Her delicate little face, as small as a palm, had eyebrows like ink and unfazed eyes that took in the commotion in the hall. Her moist lips were tinged with red, her makeup was light, but it couldn't hide her peerless beauty.

"Miss Sanchez, this is what Mr. Johnson just sent someone to deliver, saying that it is a VCR to be played at the wedding. He will be arriving soon." The wedding planner was sweating as he handed her a USB drive.

He probably won't show up.

Amelia knew it all too well. She glanced at her anxious mother and her heart softened for a moment, "Go ahead and play it."

"Alright."

On the big screen, a familiar face to the Sanchez family appeared.

"Amelia, I already have someone else!" Paulo Johnson arrogantly looked at the camera, "You were only with me for my money! I disdain women like you!"

The Johnson Family was quite well-off compared to the Sanchez family, who still lived in an old residential area's second-hand building.

"And, Tania told me that you only decided to get married at such an old age because you might have contracted some disease... A filthy woman like you doesn't deserve to marry me!"

The scene changed, and Paulo was holding a fragile and charming woman, "I'm eloping with Tania!"

The crowd erupted in shock.

And that woman was none other than Amelia's stepsister!

"Sister, I'm sorry..." Tania said pitifully, "Please forgive me, Paulo and I are truly in love."

At this sight, Mother Sanchez almost fainted from anger. She glared at her second husband, "Father Lincoln, look at your daughter's deeds!"

"Why, what's the fuss? Anyhow, Paulo is still our family's son-in-law, isn't he?" Father Lincoln grinned, feeling genuinely proud that his daughter found such a good match!

Amelia, at the center of public opinion, couldn't help but smile bitterly.

She had never planned to get married in the first place, if not for her sympathy for her single mother who raised her until the age of 18 before remarrying. Amelia didn't want to agree to the wedding.

It was her mother who said that her lifelong wish was for Amelia to get married and have someone to take care of her.

Under such intense pressure to marry, Amelia reluctantly agreed and met Paulo four months ago through a blind date, leading to this farce.

"Who would dare to want Amelia now?"

"I heard she works at a small company, earning 3,800 a month. Where can she find someone as good as the Johnson family again?"

"She'll be an old maid! She'll probably have to settle for someone living off her in the future!"

The whispers and mocking laughter full of malice in the hall were like soft knives, flying towards Amelia.

As both sets of parents negotiated, Amelia lazily sat there playing with her fingers. After hearing the last sentence, her languid eyes brightened.

Wouldn't finding a gigolo be much better than marrying a man like Paulo?

Feasible.

Amelia was in an okay mood, completely oblivious to the fact that there was a handsome man in the crowd, deeply gazing at her and paying close attention to her every move.

After putting down the flowers, Amelia was about to go to the makeup room to change her clothes when Mother Sanchez came in.

She took out a roll of money from her pocket, about a few thousand, and teary-eyed, stuffed it into Amelia's hand: "Amelia, this is for you to use after your marriage."

Mother Sanchez worked as a street cleaner, earning very little each month.

"Mum, I have money, you keep it." Amelia's heart was sour, and she refused.

Who would have thought that Mother Sanchez started crying right away? Her tears flowed like a faucet, and she scolded angrily, "All these useless people! Look at what they've done! What about our Amelia's future? What decent man would want to marry her now?"

"You're getting old, and the neighbors gossip about you daily. In another year, none of the matchmakers in this area would be willing to set you up!"

The old generation always believed that getting married was a woman's mission.

Amelia knew she couldn't reason with her mother, so she remained silent and let her cry her heart out.

At night, the wedding was already over.

Amelia Sanchez was so bothered by her mother's sobbing that she turned and took a taxi to the nightclub, seeking solace in alcohol.

The hazy and ambiguous lights swept over the booth, accompanied by deafening music and dancing waves, one wave higher than the other.

"Waiter," Amelia Sanchez said, half-drunk and blushing, "Help me get some good-looking and clean male escorts!"

The waiter quickly nodded: "Alright, please wait a moment!"

He had not even left the booth before he was stopped by someone.

The man had been following Amelia Sanchez since the wedding, fearing that she would do something rash.

At this moment, his handsome face was concealed in the fluctuating lights, his narrow and indifferent phoenix eyes slightly raised, and he casually said, "No need to call. Clear the surroundings."

"Lu-Lu, Young Master Brown?" The waiter was astonished and hurriedly said, "Yes, I'll do it right away!"

Slowly realizing what was happening, Amelia Sanchez felt the surroundings quieting down.

She lifted her shimmering eyes and, because of the alcohol, appeared more innocent.

The man in front of her wore an expensive suit, his face handsome and refined. His pair of eyes shone like bright stars, deep and beautiful, easily catching one's attention.

His nose bridge was prominent, his thin lips pursed, exuding a cold and noble aura.

Amelia Sanchez blinked in confusion, reaching out with her delicate white finger to poke the man's face, "Are you the male escort I ordered?"

Under the dim light, Albert Brown caught her slender white hand and suddenly approached her, his graceful face staring at Amelia Sanchez.

Her heartbeat suddenly accelerated.

Amelia Sanchez realized that he was exceptionally good-looking.

Moreover... exactly her type.

"Miss Sanchez."

Albert Brown got closer, their distance lessening to mere inches. Amelia Sanchez could even feel the warmth of his breath.

He lowered his voice, sounding dangerous, "What do you think?"

The pair of eyes staring at Amelia Sanchez were filled with restrained and profound love.

"Um..."

Amelia Sanchez rarely had intimate contact with men. She hesitated for a while, her face flushed like fire.

Not knowing what she thought of, her lips cornered suddenly curved up, "Well, you are!"

After saying that, Amelia Sanchez directly held Albert Brown's hand and whispered, "I have a few questions for you."

"Hmm."

"How long have you been an escort?"

Albert Brown's forehead twitched, patiently replying, "Just started today."

"Oh, how much do you make?"

Recalling that people said her salary was only 3,800 at today's wedding, Albert Brown remained expressionless: "1,200 including food and accommodation."

"Oh!" Amelia Sanchez was delighted, her clear eyes curving into crescent moons, "Then I'll keep you, with food and lodging. Are you willing to go with me?"

Keep him?

Only Amelia Sanchez could think of that.

Albert Brown looked at the woman in front of him who had no idea who he was, and an odd emotion flashed across his heart.

He lazily nodded, "I am."

"Great!" Amelia Sanchez's eyes rolled around, and she immediately pulled his hand, stumbling out.

Albert Brown gently and gentlemanly supported her, allowing her to lean heavily on him, "Where do you want to go?"

"To the hotel, to inspect the goods!"
