Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 After the Doomsday

AD 2043!

The earth had suffered a meteorite rain that had not been seen in ten thousand years.

One of the satellites with a diameter of dozens of kilometers hit the North American continent.

At that moment, the earth was burning like the second sun.

However, as the price of the burning at this moment, ninety percent of the creatures on the earth instantly perished. The civilization that had been established for thousands of years which humans were proud of instantly turned into scorching soil.

Hayden was one of the big cities built by the remnant humans after the old order was destroyed. It was the largest living area of human beings hundreds of kilometers around.

Hayden was surrounded by some satellite small towns.

These small towns were called the parasite area by the big shots in Hayden.

The so-called parasite area, as its name people lived on the resources Hayden had given up.

Unlike the big shots living in Hayden, the people living in the parasite area were poor, barbaric, and ignorant.

In order to survive, killing, robbing, and raping were everywhere.

Everything was out of order.

In a parasite area five hundred miles away from Hayden, a tall and strong young man was walking in a desolate and shabby alley.

On both sides of the road, there were old houses. Several planks were casually placed on the rock wall behind them, and under them were supported by a few wooden poles. A house that could accommodate a family of no more than twenty pieces of wood was built.

The man lowered his head slightly and covered the inner pocket of his clothes cautiously before he entered the alley. In his pocket was the good thing he found in the abandoned building of the old society outside today.

The man's name was Lucian, 21 years old. Today was his last day in Parasite City. Tomorrow he would go to the city according to his plan to try his luck and try to get rid of the Parasite City and become a member of the Hayden.

So he didn't want any accident to happen today, not to mention that he was holding an invaluable "treasure" in his arms.

However, things didn't go as he expected. When he walked quickly through the houses with his head down, an accident happened.

"Uncle, Uncle..."

"Brother, brother..."

A lot of noisy children's voices came, followed by the children who rushed out of the room.

They were all in rags, pale and thin. They were malnourished and couldn't tell the difference between men and women.

With fake smiles on their faces, they crowded in front of Lucian and sprang themselves on Lucian's shoes.

"Uncle, I'll help you wipe your shoes. I'm the best, just a copper plate." a child who was closest to the shoes shouted.

"I'm good at it..."

"I'm cheap..."

Another group of voices was heard.

Lucian covered his aching ears and hurried back to avoid the children's "attack".

"Guys, my shoes are harder than your houses. I don't need you to clean them." Lucian said with self-mockery.

"Big brother, let us wipe it. We will be beaten to death if we can't make money." A girl pretended to be pitiful.

"But I don't have money." Lucian shook his head.

"Then we don't need to pay. We just need a piece of black bread..." the little girl came up again.

"I don't have bread either." Lucian's tone became a little cold when he heard these children's insistence.

It wasn't that he didn't have sympathy for her. It was just that in a place like the Parasite City, once others knew that you had something valuable or food, the price would be taken away and you would have nothing at last.

Lucian didn't want to make trouble for him.

"Half, half. Mr. I want half a piece of bread." The little girl squeezed her tears.

The other children also argued with each other.

Lucian ignored them, bypassed them quickly, and rushed out of the street alley, heading to the ruins in the distance.

The children's faces changed when they saw Lucian disappear. The pitiful look on their faces instantly turned into disgust. They turned around and shouted.

"Hurry up! Hurry up! Don't let go of the man just now. He must have good things."

Those children were never born to clean their shoes. What they needed to do was to get close to potential customers and figure out if there was anything valuable on them. Then they would tell the adults in the room that they would kill people and loot goods.

Born in such an apocalypse, even a child's smile was tinged with sin.

Lucian walked out of the alley and quickly came to an old villa. The broken outer wall of the villa was about to fall in the dim yellow sunset.

Lucian skillfully climbed up the vine hanging from the second floor.

To prevent someone from breaking in, he had blocked the door with several big stones a long time ago, and a few adult strong men could not push it open.

Lucian climbed up to the second floor, walked through the old floor, opened the old door, and entered the master bedroom.

The room was in a mess and the furniture was scattered everywhere.

Lucian didn't make any changes to the room. If someone could break into the room, he wouldn't find any traces of human life.

After entering the room, Lucian began to fumble around in the corner. He took out a piece of black bread and a bottle of water from nowhere. He leaned against the bed and was about to finish eating and have a rest.

Just as Lucian put the bread to his mouth, there was a sudden sound of close footsteps downstairs.

Lucian immediately hid the bread under the bed, got up, and tiptoed to the window to look downstairs.

A group of people, about ten meters away from the dilapidated building, were walking towards them.

The leader was a fierce-looking man with a stone ax-shaped weapon in his hand, and the men and women behind him were mostly holding some sticks as weapons.

"Damn it! Why does this guy live so far away from us? We don't know how much physical strength we had consumed. If we can't get anything from him, we will eat him up..." the black-faced man shouted at the people behind him.

"Eating people" here were not the angry words of the black-faced man on a whim, but what would happen.

People living in the parasite area often starved. If they couldn't get through it, they would either starve to death or kill people.

"This is Satan's world..." Lucian hid by the window, with a look of disgust on his face.

"But you are not qualified to eat me." When Lucian opened his eyes again, he regained his composure.
