Dylan was driving on the highway when his phone rings. He glanced at the screen, his heart skipped a beat as his eyes saw most recognized letters of Her name flashing across the screen.
"Lena" he answered quickly, appearing clam but his heart trembling slightly.
"Dylan" Lena's voice came through, her usual cheerful voice.
"Where are you? "
His heart skipped a beat and he slows down as he drive through the rest area.
"I'm at last rest area around the highway to Kingstonë. " Dylan replied as he Parked his car and leans back to seat.
"What are you doing? " he asked her checking the time.
"I just reach home after working out at field with Master Shen. I'm alone now as mom and dad are attending some work. " her voice came, although it appears clam but Dylan knows deep down she is facing boredom.
"which field? " he took interest in her work.
"Oh I remember now why I called you, I just heard a good thing. " within a second her voice changes to an enthusiastic one.
Dylan knows that now it's time for him to listen to her. He press the recording button.
"Won't you tell me? " he asked her.
"I'm telling you Dy, it's just that Master Shen was working on Mushrooms. Don't you know Mushrooms are always associated with alien stuff in science and an ancient lore in magic. " Lena asked him.
"Yeah. " Dylan took great interest in it.
"Fungi are neither plant or animals or something in between. Back than when early classification of animal and plant was carried out, they eluded all attempts to categorize them. We don't know what they are truly. Some are immortal. Some are beneficial and some produce such toxins that could kill any organism. They are both ancient lore and modern science.
Mushrooms grow the best when it rains and away from the eyes of Lorphs. They grow fast but stops growing when one see them.
They are so strong that on any soil fungi will grow and can break the roots of much stronger trees."
Dylan silently listen to Lena, what she learnt during harvesting Chicken mushroom of old Shen's Greenhouse.
Dylan was truly mesmerized by it. He listen carefully not missing even a single note if her voice and record it.
"Well it's such a good thing that Master Shen has told you.. Truly amazing. " he says.
" Master Shen has told me another thing too. But shall I tell you or not? " Lena plays with string of his heart sitting Hundreds of miles away in Capaldi.
Dylan laughs at her playfulness and asked
"Won't you tell Lena? "
" Well if you says so Dy, " she pause for a while.
Dylan check the screen if call was still on.
"Lena.. " He said her name hurriedly.
" He says that just like them, we can grow too, not hideously But openly in any soil. "
"Hmm" Dylan waits for her to speak up.
"And I have given you this but of freedom to gain whatever you want. " Lena says mischievously.
Dylan can imagine Lena making a gesture with her fingers And her laughs loudly.
"Well, Thank you Lena. " he thanks her.
"Hey Lena, when I come back from Kingstonë, will you make chicken mushroom soup for me. " Dylan asked her as he sit straight from drive once again. He place his phone beside him on the seat and drive once again.
"Okay I will be waiting. " Lena agrees after a pause.
Dylan smiles at her reply and ends the recording once she end the call.
First half of his road journey to Kingstonë, he spend assuring Lena that he would come back in few days and second half wondering over the mushrooms lesson.
By the time Dylan arrived at the southern city of Kingstonë.
and far away in Capaldi; Lena felt like Capaldi is a bit lonely. She feel it lingering around marking it's territory as Dylan texted her that he is in Kingstonë. Her phone rings twice as a notification flushed across the screen. Soon it was fallowed by a call.
"Pick the call Lena, It might be your knight "
Ariel says smiling as she saw Lena ignoring the call.
" no I'm sure it's him. " Ariel says as she saw the caller ID.
Lena pick the call.
"Hey.. Lena where are you? Are you alright? " there he was, hers only, her Dylan worried sick about her.
"I'm okay and I'm at Ariel's. "
"Why? Are you worried Now that I'm all alone? " despite feeling sad, Lena brave up in front of him so he could do whatever he wanted to do.
"Thank goodness, you are alright, Gibbs called me saying he could not reach you. "
over the phone, with miles of distance between them Lena can still see and hear his worries, that he had been worried sick about her when Gibbs called him.
"Okay I will drop by his lab. "
"Okay Bye, "
"love you Dylan " With that Lena ends the call laughing loudly with Ariel who was making funny faces.
Miles away in Kingstonë, Dylan pick his bag and smiles at her .
Ah.. Lena you think... You can hide things from me... Your Dylan....

He smiles as he saw her Sleeping picture on the wallpaper of his phone and enters the lift to the building where Eva was waiting for him.
