As the golden light disappeared, so did the demon king's body. In place of it was a completely normal looking human infant. The Goddess's kind smile morphed into a ugly sneer. "Shit! Why couldn't I have just killed the bastard!? Have my powers deteriorated that much from the barrier being destroyed? I couldn't even erase his powers! All I could've done was erase most of his demonic mana that he could replenish…"
The Goddess faded away as angry men and women bursted into the room. They saw no Demon King, only the Goddess slowly fading away, leaving a child on the floor.
"Did-did the Goddess drive the Demon King away? And she left behind a child as well… it must be the hero's first party member!" Became their collective thoughts as they placed the baby next to the Hero. Suddenly, the Hero's aura flared, attempting to drive away the evil being.
"Look! The Hero becomes stronger when she gets close to the other baby! It truly is a miracle! Could it be the second Hero!?" The crowd cheered and cried. "We're saved! The world's saved from the Demon King!". The Goddess was too weak to protest their stupidity.
The children slept together peacefully, as the crowd mourned for their losses.
—————
"Two Heros?!" The king bit his nails nervously.
"Isn't that a good thing, sire?" His informant asked, now nervous as well.
"You don't understand. It has always been the same. Everything. Every two hundred years, a Demon King will rise. From my great great grandfather's generation, all the way to my father's. There has always been only one Demon King and Hero.
"Didn't you say that the Demon King attacked the village just before the second Hero was discovered? I'm sure that the other Hero is a fake created by the Demon King! Call my most accomplished Generals! We'll root out the demon soon enough!"
"But sir! We don't have the authority to go into holy grounds!"
"Tch…. I'm sure the Goddess would forgive us."
"What if you were wrong? We would incur the Goddess's wrath upon us!"
"… fine. I'll wait until they visit my kingdom. I'll bring this matter up to the Curia Regis. We'll solve this mystery soon enough."
————————-
The cries of the supposedly "second Hero" rang loud and clear. The Goddess was staring daggers at the Demon King. She was attempting to gain back power, and the Demon King is trying his best to stop her. "Help! The crazy Goddess is trying to kill me!" He tried to scream, but all that came out of his mouth was baby noises. Because of the madness inflicting him, combined with the powerful magic altering his body, he remembered nothing of the day before. All he could remember was the birth of the hero, then straight cut into being a baby. With a Goddess ready to kill, all he could do was scream. His body wasn't ready for mana yet, and any use would result in his body bursting open.
"Damn it, no one's coming!" The demon king thought. "I'm gonna die! But even if I die, I'll go down with a fight!" He began the circulation of mana in his infant body, preparing a shield. The Goddess stabbed down with a shard of light, blocked by the simple use of a mana shield. A surprisingly cute "bahh!!" Came out of the Demon King's mouth as he pushed his body to the limit. His mana shield shattered, and the Goddess only had a minuscule amount of light left.
"Crap! I'm gonna die!" The little Demon King thought grimly.
The Goddess glowered and thought for a while. Such a small amount of light wouldn't kill him, it would run out before the killing blow. It was the only way the Goddess could interact with the world. The Goddess thought of a better idea.
Neither of them could speak, but it was like they could read each other's minds.
"Open wide~~"
"N-nooooooooo!"
"Here comes the choo choo train!"
"Nooooooooo! Stop it!"
"Look! The little airplane!"
The Demon King saw no other choice. It was to live in shame or to die.
Inhaling, he sent out a wailing cry.
"WAAAAAAAAAAAAAA"
During this opportunity, the Goddess dropped the shard of light into his mouth. It stayed in his mouth, for a day old baby lacked the strength to spit it out.
A maid rushed in. "Oh Hero, what's wrong?"
The Demon King opened his mouth to show the shard of light.
"Oh, you can't eat that! You might choke!" The maid carefully plucked it out of the Hero's mouth. The Goddess tried her best to stop her, from making hand signs to shaking her head. Sadly, the maid didn't understand anything. The Goddess held out her hand.
"Oh, you want me to stop?" The maid looked at the Goddess. She nodded and continued. With her hands, she made horns on her forehead. Then a crown. She slit her throat with a finger, then pointed at the maid.
"Ah! The demon king is going to kill me!"
The Goddess nodded. The small demon king attempted to distract the maid, doing everything like making cute noises and attacking her. However, she didn't notice.
The Goddess continued. She pointed at the baby. She made horns, then a crown. Then she pointed at the maid, and slid a finger across her throat.
A gasp. The little demon king looked at the maid with puppy eyes. The Goddess was overflowing with joy. "This little one will protect me from the demon king!" She kissed the small demon king on the cheeks.
"Mwah! My hero!"
The Goddess, finally running out of power, simply faded out of vision. The small demon king giggled in joy.
"Oh! To think of it, the Village Head gave the two of you names! For the cute first hero, her name will be Clara! And for her cute partner, Secor.
