Chapter 4 - Trust Me

"Let me handle it, Syd. Go take a shower cause I know you and how you are feeling is an impulse to clean. So go."

"I need to handle this myself. I won't feel justified until I do, Darius. You know this. Let me handle this," she pleaded.

"Trust me, Syd. You do trust, me don't you?" he asked looking her square in the eyes.

"Yea, sure," she said as she walked away as Darius opened the door. She couldn't help but watch from the distance.

Colby said, "Damn Sydney, either you've changed or I was fucked up from the time I met you and am just now sobering up or you just a regular Ol captain save a hoe."

"Nope, I'm Sydney's man. You didn't know she was a lawyer and you admitted to raping her, huh? Get the fuck out and don't contact my wife again. We were going through some shit but it's good now. So go on 'bout ya bidness fo' I get you some," Darius said standing as if he was ready to fuck his ass up.

Colby looked passed him, made eye contact with Syd, and she cringed and ran to the bathroom like a little kid watching her parents fight who wasn't supposed to be awake. "Whatever, man. I see you got her scared. What you do, beat her ass or something?

You got the game wrong. She ain't no lawyer. She just in Real Estate. Know YO HO, I mean WIFE."

Darius stepped out the door, calmly and gently closed it behind him. He stood up straight looked Colby square in the eyes, "Call her a ho one more time, I dare you!"

"You ain't worth it. Neither is yo HO," Colby said attempting to leave.

Darius grabbed his arm, turning him so they were once again facing, and hit him with a mean right hook.

Colby picked himself up from the ground, stumbling to his car, he said, "Aight , enjoy raising my child."

"Get the fuck outta here!" Darius waved him off, walking back into the house. "Sydney!" he yelled into the back. She could hear him getting closer. She wanted to disappear into the water. He approached the bathroom door. She pretended as if she'd been soaking for as long as he'd told her to. But to be honest, she didn't want to wash the sex off. Darius was her comfort zone and she wanted him to be her husband eventually, but who knew?

"Sydney Michelle, did I not tell you to come and get in the tub, as soon as you walked away from that front door?"

"I did," she lied.
