Victoria was stunned for a moment upon hearing the loud blaring of siren and many of the soldiers and mages began to mobilize.
Some of them ran into the walls to take control of the astral cannons while mages exuding strong auras got into the large mage towers and the runes lining it's surface lit up brightly.
The massive astral cannon seemed to wake up as blue lights began to light up and with a loud hum. The runes inside the barrel lit up as well.
The atmosphere became several times tenser than it was before. It was also at this point that Victoria had reached the top of the wall.
And what she saw made her face to pale.
Hundreds of thousands of beasts were charging at the wall at full speed, their combined aura caused the air itself to warp. Whether it was flying beasts, ground beasts, or even burrowing in the ground. In fact, the faint sounds of explosions could be heard in the ground as burrowing beasts his high explosive mines evaporated them.
"Ready, FIRE!" The commander gave the order with a furious shout and at the same time, blue lights shone from the barrels all the astral cannons lining the walls and in an instant, hundreds of blue beams flew simultaneously into the massive tide.
BOOM BOOM BOOM
BOOM BOOM BOOM
BOOM BOOM BOOM
Hundreds of rapidly expanding blue spheres erupted among the monster tide. Any monster that was caught in these spheres were turned to ashes.
But the beasts were not deterred and continued to march forward.
"Mage towers, give em hell!" The moment the commend was given out, all sorts of terrifying magic spells were unleashed from the mage towers.
Lighting storms, Fire rain, hurricanes, waves of water and other destructive large scale spell.
"DON'T STOP, WE NEED TO DRAW OUT THAT SACRED LEVEL MONSTER AND KILL IT" Commander Ryker shouted increasing the fervor of the soldiers.
Victoria watched with bright eyes at the edge of the wall as the beasts were bombarded my magic and weapons, mankind's strength revealed itself at this moment.
But then out of nowhere, beast that numbered a bit over a hundred emerged from the beast tide and surprisingly, they were able to withstand the attacks of the astral cannons. Their auras made it known that they were rare level beasts.
Seeing their rapid advance towards the wall, the commander reacted swiftly.
"Send in the bronze ranked mages." Upon hearing the shout, some of the mages with powerful auras as well as their futuristic looking body armor ran up to the wall and jumped over it.
The same way that the beasts had their ranks was the same as humans. These were black iron, iron, bronze, silver, gold, diamond, rose gold and platinum.
The moment the appeared on the other side of the wall, they immediately dashed towards the rare level monsters and engaged them in close combat.
"Range mages!" Another order, and hundreds of mages wielding magic staffs to boost their spells went on top of the wall. Victoria who was still unseen had to be careful to not bump into one of them by accident.
"FIRE!" A upon hearing the command, hundreds of ranged spells were conjured and fire at the rare level beasts.
"This is good, they'll eventually send out the extraordinary level beasts and after we've taken care of those, the leader will be forced to come out." James said with a a slight smile as he watched the bronze ranked mages take care of the rare level beasts.
"Mhm, and when it does, we'll take it out with the omega cannon." Ryker said while pointing at the large cannon behind them that had yet to fire.
All of a sudden however, numerous lights appeared in a certain part of the beast tide and commander Ryker had a feeling of dread.
"ACTIVATE THE BARRIER!!" He hurriedly shouted and almost immediately, a huge blue dome was erected over the base.
*BOOM BOOM BOOM*
Dozens of beams impact the barrier causing it to flicker for a moment before it regained it's stability.
Some drops of sweat had formed on commander Ryker's forehead.
'Those breath attacks were from extraordinary beasts, does that mean that they plan to bombard the barrier from afar? If they do that they might not necessarily break the barrier, but it will result in a battle of attrition. and we'll surely get exhausted before them, this is very unexpected.' Commander Ryker couldn't help but feel a bit nervous, they couldn't reach the extraordinary beasts from this distance and it would be impossible to personally go in to kill them. And there was still the sacred level beasts that had yet to come out.
At this moment, commander Ryker was contemplating how to deal with this problem when all of a sudden, the mages on the wall began to exclaim causing Ryker to look over, and what he saw stunned him.
A dense green fog had enshrouded the battle field and the monsters that were inside began to drop like flies.
'What's going on.' Was what came into everybody's mind at the moment.
Suddenly, a incredible loud sound as well as the sound of a beast and the clashing of metal was heard from within the fog. Two auras had also erupted from within the fog causing everybody to turn pale, and the mages who were on the front lines got the worst of it, luckily the fog didn't seem to target them.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gideon's thought was right as he began to see scores of beasts marching towards the large base in the distance and the two sides were currently engaged in a fierce battle.
Gideon narrowed his eyes as he looked into the tide to search for something and he quickly found it.
A huge purple tiger could be seen walking slowly in the middle of the beast tide and it was surrounded by dozens of extraordinary level beasts while its own aura was that of a sacred level beast.
Gideon didn't think too much and immediately began to fly towards the beast, at the same time, he released his poison fog which quickly spread through the battlefield.
The tiger which was twenty meters long and ten meters tall noticed Gideon and roared as purple electricity surged around it's right claw and swept it towards Gideon who met it's charge with his poison overdrive daggers.
*BOOOOM*
The clash sent a huge shockwave throughout the battlefield and the extraordinary level beasts were sent flying while the weaker ones exploded into a bloody mist.
Gideon retreated a dozen meters while the tiger had already prepared its breath attacks as a thick purple beam flew from it's mouth towards Gideon who just recovered from the clash.
The beam was right in front on him, do knowing that he couldn't dodge completely, he got as close to the edge of the beam as possible while activating poison barrier and placing his body at an angle, and amazingly, the beam was deflected so instead of taking the attack head on, he redirected it.
Gideon quickly seized the opportunity and flashed in front of the tiger's face. And released a spray of neurotoxin into its face causing it to stagger backwards as its body swayed.
Without wasting any time, Gideon appeared under its head and stabbed straight into its throat causing it to roar even though the daggers didn't actually pierce through as it was short.
But immediately afterwards, Gideon released torrents of poison from the dagger which quickly spread.
The tiger then released one last pained roar before it dropped to the ground.
[+30,000 exp]
Hearing the notification, Gideon nodded before looking towards the battlefield. Most of the monsters had already died from his poison fog as constant sounds of exp rang in his mind.
Gideon then stored the bodies of the tiger and the extraordinary beasts inside his inventory so that Lisk could devour the later as beasts grew stronger by eating each other.
After making sure he received no more notifications, Gideon retracted his poison fog while also covering himself with camouflaged poison and flying over the base towards the city, completely unaware of the fact that his little sister was in the base.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Victoria watched with bright eyes as the green fog retracted and what was left was the bodies of countless beasts.
'What an amazing mage! Just who was that.' Victoria exclaimed in her mind as the battle that would have been much more arduous ended just like that.
The determination in her heart grew as she wished to become that strong so that she could find her brother, unaware that he had flown right over her head.
"VICTORIA!!" A shout of anger sounded throughout the whole base as a terrifying aura bored down on everybody.
'Uh Oh.' Was what she thought as she saw the figure of her father descend into the base.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gideon had finally arrived at the city, and he managed to sneak passed the security and enter the city.
As he walked, he created a green mask and covered his face as his looks were a bit too conspicuous.
He felt relief wash over him as he took in a deep breath.
'I've finally arrived, Victoria, I know that you're waiting for me, don't worry, I'm going to come." With this, his gaze hardened.
'But not quite yet.' After this thought, Gideon walked in a certain direction, it was the direction of the guild building, he was going to become an adventurer.
