Using the remaining time that had, Gideon and Victoria constantly improved their barriers, adjusting and and fixing whatever went wrong. And at the end, their efforts bore fruit.
Gideon slashes at a purple barrier while Victoria punched a green barrier. Immediately when they hit the barriers, the point of impact sunk in slightly before suddenly, the force they inputted was sent back at them. They both expertly rode the force by jumping backwards, preventing any damage.
"And with that, you two have created the reflect barrier. Though the speed of return can be faster." Teran said with an approving nod. It seemed easier than the previous techniques that they learnt, and it was, but it was still very effective. Moreover, it still had some notable weaknesses.
The first was the fact they if you struck the barrier right at the top, there would be nowhere for the force to converge and would instead be transmitted into the ground.
The second was that if one could strike it from multiple places at once, the force wouldn't be returned properly due to the waves moving inappropriately.
"By the way, I was thinking of letting you guys have a break next month instead of training." Teran revealed to the duo's surprise.
"You guys have been training nonstop and the only breaks you have are when you sleep. So for the sake of your efficiency and mental health, I think it's for the best. Besides, I'm sure you two are curious about our world." Teran's words hit the spot. The siblings indeed were very curious about the world of Zion, but ever since they started training, they gradually forgot about that desire. Moreover, they could feel the stress increasing as time went by, but it was still manageable.
"Alright." Gideon agreed along with Victoria.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
The next day arrived and Lin quickly came to pick up the siblings from Teran. But before she left, he told her about his plan and after some thought, she agreed.
"Yeah you're right, and being confined to the same place for eight years isn't exactly nice." Lin said in support of the idea.
After that brief interlude, Lin quickly wrapped the siblings with her wind and vanished from sight, and Teran promptly became a bunch of pebbles that scattered on the floor.
During the travel, Gideon and Victoria were once again using their astral view to look into the astral world, and they were able to see the large amounts of light green wind particles that made up the bubbles surrounding them as well as Lin.
Very quickly, they reached the world tree and Lin placed them down. They then immediately noticed that there were a few elves in front of them, but they were bound with wind and had unfriendly countenances.
"Hey, let us go now you b**ch." The one in front cursed at Lin and the others followed suit constantly spouting insults at her, much to the confusion and annoyance of the duo.
However, Lin suddenly waved her hand and the elves suddenly lost their ability to speak and began to squirm, in their constraints as their faces became blue. Lin was removing the oxygen in their lungs.
It wasn't until the elves nearly lost consciousness that she stopped, causing all of them to gasp for air.
"These guys are scum from my kingdom so you guys don't need to worry about them, anyway you'll be using them to learn the mental attack." Lin explained.
"Mental attack?" The duo said in unison while completely ignoring the elves, they had already guessed that they had done something to put them in this situation.
"Indeed, just as it sounds, it can directly attack the mind of an opponent, observe." As she said this, Lin looked towards one of the bound elves in the back who unintentionally made eye contact with her.
Immediately after, his face contorted as he began screaming and wailing at the top of his lungs. Blood came out of his nose and his eyes became bloodshot.
After about a minute, his cries stopped and he lost consciousness, much to the horrors of the other elves who paled at the sight.
Victoria felt some discomfort while Gideon rubbed his chin while nodding slightly. He had no problem seeing others in pain, especially when they were scum like Lin mentioned.
Lin seemed to notice Victoria's discomfort and told her directly.
"These men have murdered, raped, stolen and done all sorts of vile acts, so don't feel pity for them." Hearing this, Victoria's gaze immediately became cold as she stared at the men who immediately felt the hair on their bodies rising.
"Anyway, the attack is mostly just sending a large amount of astral energy into the opponent's mind to wreak havoc, but it's less effective against opponents with a strong will." The moment she said that, Gideon and Victoria suddenly felt a strong headache along with the feeling of something foreign in their brains.
Both of them frowned slightly and put some of their astral energy into their heads and the headache and feeling immediately disappeared. Lin nodded when she saw this.
"Though it isn't actually as simple as I just said, that's the general definition of the technique." The duo nodded when they heard Lin's words. If it was that simple then everyone would be able to use it.
After that, two of the elves were suddenly lifted up and put in front of Gideon and Victoria.
"To properly use the technique, you need to release a stream of hostile astral energy towards the enemy, preferably through their eyes since it's the easiest passageway. Then you need to make the astral energy attack the brain, specifically the cerebral cortex as the it the part of the brain that's responsible for thinking and other things." Lin explained and the duo nodded.
Although Victoria wasn't very well versed in human biology, she knew where the cerebral cortex was, and Gideon had to study biology since his element depended on it.
The two of them looked at the elves who immediately began sweating.
'She said that they need to look at us in the eyes, so we'll just close them!' The elves had a similar thought and we're about to close their eyes.
However, immediately they did so, Gideon's hand blurred as he slashed across their shoulders, and they immediately went limp.
"I've never experimented on a truly intelligent being before. Hopefully it'll yield good results." Gideon said without any sort of disgust or remorse. He simply regarded he elf in front of him as a guinea pig.
