Chereads / RISE OF THE POISON MASTER / Chapter 21 - CHAPTER 20: IT'S EFFECTIVE

Chapter 21 - CHAPTER 20: IT'S EFFECTIVE

There weren't many people that Victoria dared not to offend. This was clear when she snuck into a military base without a care in the world. But Victoria dreaded her mother.

If her father could be considered easygoing and stern when he needed to be, then her mother was like a cold witch who despised when she was opposed or when things didn't go her way. An example was when Gideon was declared missing, Victoria made the mistake of openly voicing her dissatisfaction about her parents. Her mother made her sleep outside in the cold ground for three days and she sealed her magic, so she couldn't be comfortable even if she tried.

"How have you been?" Her mother's voice sent chills down one's soul.

"I have been doing well, mother." Victoria said with utmost respect.

"Hm, I can see that you haven't been slacking off in your meditation, that's good." Sarah said before walking past Victoria who stopped herself from heaving out a sigh of relief.

"Oh and by the way, I saw what you did on the news, I'll decide on your punishment later." The last few words caused Victoria to freeze as she became very fearful.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

A green blur swept through the forest silently as it jumped from tree to tree, the local creatures completely unaware of its presence.

Gideon managed to find a mission requiring him to kill a sacred level beast and the reward was pretty good as well, so he took it without any hesitation.

He was in a forest east of Kalea city that was actually relatively untouched, so the number of sacred creatures were actually quite high, so no one really knew why a beast tide hadn't started yet, but they would send people like Gideon to kill them from time to time just in case.

Gideon looked at the holographic map displayed to him by the watch the guild gave him and it showed that he was about to reach the area that the beast resided.

Up till now, Gideon hadn't actually killed that many sacred rank beast. It was only the Basilisk, the lich, and the lighting tiger. This was because he spent most of his time slowly building up his strength. But this time, he planned to fly through the ranks quickly.

He soon slowed down as he began to approach the area that the map showed and very quickly, Gideon noticed how the temperature rose and how majority of the trees and land had been scorched black, he was entering the beasts territory.

He quickly activated stealth and covered himself in camouflaged poison as he jumped unto the tallest scorched tree he could find and saw his target.

In the middle of the territory was a lava lake that was about 50 meters in diameter. And inside of it a figure about 3 meters tall could be seen sleeping in it.

It's skin was black with glowing veins showing on the surface making it look like it had lava in it. It had a pair of fleshy wings on its back that were folded and two horns grew out of its head. It's long arms had spikes on them and its hand had razor sharp nails.

'Peak sacred rank beast, lava gargoyle.' Gideon remembered the name of the beast as his gaze became solemn, this thing was about the same strength of the lich he fought before.

Gideon slowly approached the lava lake while concealing himself expertly and he didn't make a sound. Frey and Hades were both in his hand and we're connected by a green poison string.

However, the moment he got close to the lake, the gargoyle's eyes snapped open and turned to Gideon's direction, and immediately, a blazing hot aura hit him full force.

'Well sh*t.' Realizing that his cover had been blown, Gideon charged forward and started to spin his daggers at high speeds while activating his main skill poison overdrive and poison aura.

The gargoyle flapped its wings sending waves of lava in the lake as in flew towards Gideon who started walking on the lava by activating poison flight under his feet.

The two neared each other in a flash as bright orange flames that reached scary temperatures surrounded the gargoyle's claws.

But before the two reached, Gideon swung his daggers prematurely and the gargoyle saw no reason to dodge so it pressed on. However, just as the dagger was about to pass its neck, the dagger suddenly started to elongate and approached its neck very quickly.

The gargoyle felt a massive threat from the dagger and so it leaned its head backwards while swinging its leg covered in flames upwards to kick Gideon and saw the dagger pass over it. But Gideon was still swinging his other dagger, so when he saw the axe like leg aiming for his abdomen, he swung his other dagger to meet it.

*CLASH*

A massive shockwave swept through the area and the lava was actually pushed away at the point of impact.

The gargoyle was sent flying by the strike and it strenuously flapped its wings before it could stabilize itself.

But the moment it looked forward, the two daggers were already swinging towards both sides of its neck.

The gargoyle let out an annoyed growl before it's body suddenly descended into the lava causing Gideon to miss.

His daggers quickly returned to him as he hastily got away from the lava lake and he started to spin them faster than before.

[Ding, the skill (whiplash dagger) has reached level 2]

Hearing this, Gideon nodded happily, he knew that actual combat would improve him faster.

*GURGLE*

The lava gurgled suddenly causing Gideon to look sharp again Suddenly, numerous balls of lava flew from the lake towards Gideon who immediately started dodging. He didn't try to cancel them out as they would just spread.

Lava flew everywhere as Gideon skillfully dodged and kept his distance from the lake so that the control of the gargoyle would reduce which would force it to come out.

As Gideon was dodging though, he suddenly had an idea. As he waited for the gargoyle to come out, he started the process for releasing a poison slash, but he didn't release it and left his daggers to keep spinning. Green sparks of what looked to be electricity started to show on the surface of the daggers when he did this.

*SPLASH*

The lava splashed as the gargoyle finally emerged and lave swirled around its body like a mini whirlwind.

It then flew towards Gideon and the lava turned it into a drill than spun fast enough to make a funnel of very hot wind behind it.

It was also at this moment that Gideon's body was covered in a dense green radiance that almost looked like armor. It was his poison avatar, but he had condensed it so that it would only cover his body. The Gideon finally released his poison slashes.

However, they didn't come out in the form of slashes. Instead, two deep green poison wheels that were incomparably sharp flew towards the gargoyle with the added force of the poison avatar. In fact, one could faintly see black traces in the path of the wheels. They had cut through space.

The gargoyle felt immense danger as it tried to create a lava barrier, but it was too late.

*SLICEx2*

The unfinished barrier was sliced through like butter and so was the gargoyle as it was split into three pieces.
