"Oh my goodness are you excited ,I know I'm excited my first visit to the sanctuary! Ahh!!! Oh my goodness!"
"Relax Burne or you'll burn the place to the ground." a male fairy with shiny green wings desperately tried to calm his orange-winged female fairy companion down as hundreds of fairies flew into the grand hall of the Sanctuary, filling the room with incessant chatter. Wings of different colors and intricate designs where flapping about excitedly in the high ceilings of the grand hall. It was a beautiful sight to behold to those on the crystal floors below.
"Well the fairies get points for punctuality once again" , a well dressed blond commented with a smile as he walked over to the tall dark-haired woman dressed in a sleek and elegant dress . As he drew closer to her he said
"Rundear you look absolutely stunning." the lady called Rune turned to him with a cold stare and replied
"Callum. You're late. Again. "
"Only by a minute, you know I treasure those 60 seconds when I'm the sole proprietor of your thoughts, Rundear." All the lights in the hall couldn't hide his smirk.
"My name is Rune" she snapped "and you will address me as such in front of the students "
"Very well my dear" as he bent to give her hand a kiss "No need to get your potions and in a fizz."
Just then a high-pitched cry rang out from the ceiling , Callum had been spotted by the happiest fairy in the room.
"Calli !" she cried as she flew down to the ever-smiling vampire.
"Emee, my darling you look absolutely divine"
"Oh Calli you say the sweetest things" her cheeks were flushed pink in an instant ,was it from Callums compliment? Or from zipping around the upper dome? You can never really tell with fairies. Turning her attention to Rune, Emee said "Rune, even though you look absolutely delightful you'll be even prettier with a smile"
"Forgive me Emeraldis but one of us has to potray an air of seriousness to the students"
"Make that two of you" ,Callum said nudging his head towards the huge muscular man in robes coming towards them.
"I know you're upset about Calli's tardiness but he is struck by how lovely you look tonight"Emee whispered into the mages ear.
"It's good that he appreciates those of us that weren't born with perfect hair"
"Well I wouldn't say perfect" Callum retorted admiring his beautiful blue-eyed reflection in a nearby suit of armor. Whispering in close proximity to a vampire is a wasted effort, but fairies tend to overlook such things.
"He appreciates th-"
"I don't want to know the feelings of that pale creature Emee so, save your readings till after orientation"
"If we are to convince all the new entries that we of the Academy are family, I suggest we all play nice" the deep voice belonged to the muscular man in the robes, he turned to Callum and said "You're late."
"Yes Marcus but only be a minute" Callum replied with a flash of his perfect white teeth (fangs included). After a long sigh of exhaustion Rune declared "Now that we are all here, I would like you all to verify your student count, let us begin the ceremony"
The 4 masters nodded and moved to the enormous stage at the center of the grand hall. floating balls of light illuminated the grand hall and its walls were adorned with portraits of masters past and current and the Sanctuary's excelsior children. Callum had 2 portraits as a current nights master and as the academy's excelsior 400 years ago, all of which were very pleasing to his ego. The Center Stage had 4 podiums each connected to four silk carpets with different colors; purple, black, brown and green , each denoting the 4 classes of children at the Sanctuary; Mana, Night, Lunar and Fae. The Masters each stood at their respective podiums and the mana master and head mistress, Rune began the ceremony. With a raise of her hand all chatter from the fairies, vampires and mages in the hall seized.
"Welcome to the Gifted Academy, I am your headmistress and the master of Mana House, Rune Gale and with me are my fellow Masters of this academy; Callum May the Night master, Emeraldis the master of the fae and Marcus Grave our newly appointed lunar master." Whispers started amongst the crowd.
"Some of you may know that the Lunar class for werewolves is a brand new addition up until recently they were believed to be nothing but savage cursed beasts with nothing special to offer from their unfortunate circumstance but it has been brought to light that those with the wolf curse can be trained, tamed and lead fulfilling lives, just as you do. One free from violence and hate and misunderstanding. A life our ancestors craved this corner of the universe just for us wanted us to have. A life where we could be free to explore all that we are without having to choose sides. Without further ado, I'd like to welcome our brave new lunar students to the Sanctuary, to our family."
All eyes turned towards the portal of entries as the largest portal leading into the hall activated and 9 boys who looked extremely uncomfortable in their suits- and probably their new surrounding- along with a very young girl dressed in a cutesy pink dress, jumped out. They all had different emotions in their eyes; fear, anger, indifference, excitement, hunger .
They all stood staring at the crowd that was staring at them just as well. Then one of them began to walk towards the brown carpet, after a little deliberation the others followed suit and the crowd went into an uproar, clapping and cheering them on.
A vampire named Xavier studied his brand new 'siblings' intensely with gray eyes as they walked past .
"Looks like things are going to be very interesting this year boys"
"Looks like" Max, one of his closest and by all accounts most cheerful friends replied "The one in the red skirts the prettiest girl" he said with his signature adorable and radiant smile.
"She's the only girl among them, dimwit " another vampire called Blake pointed out with a laugh and a friendly smack on the back.
"And she's wearing pink " said yet another vampire in glasses without looking up from his book.
"You're a vampire, hence you possess perfect eyesight and yet your dense senses still make you color blind "
"And you're a vampire who possesses perfect eyesight who uses glasses." A pouting Max cried in his defense.
"Oh Maxy" Blake placed a comforting hand on his friends shoulder.
"It's only to help his 'serious and calm bookworm' image not his eyes "
"Yes Maximus ,girls love the serious and brooding type these days ,isn't that right Dax?" Xavier asked with a clever smirk .
With a loud sigh ,Dax closed his book shut and finally turned to address his best (best -ish) friends (really more of acquaintances if they hadn't lived for a 100 Years ) :
"And How would I know what girls want when they're always looking at you three for some unfathomable reason? " pointing a pinkie in the direction of whispering mages behind them .
"Nah, you just can't see the ones staring at you 'cuz you've always got your head stuck in a book Daxy" Blake replied while winking at a mage girl ,immediately sending her and her friends into a frenzy of giggles and whispers .
Dax rolled his eyes at a scene he was all to familiar with and said "Its nose"
"What?" Blake asked while sizing up his fans .
"You have your nose stuck in a book not your head "
"Oh ,whatever Dax"
And with a peal of laughter from Xavier and Max and another sigh from Dax ,the boys decided to focus on other things, Dax and Max on the twinkling fairy painted sky above them, and Xavier and Blake on what (who) was for dinner .
