Chapter 16 - Martial Arts?

(3rd Person POV)

Rimuru continued roaming through the houses of Musutafu going from rooftop to rooftop whilst in spirit form as he continued thinking about what he plans to do now since he's been hired.

Rimuru: "With what I've shared with Nezu, theres no doubt that All Might will involved, but only after confirming the legitimacy of my information. After all, if All Might learns that All For One is still alive, he might act recklessly and reveal that they know he's alive, theres little doubt he'd be alot more difficult to find than he already is."

Rimuru scouted the area his eyes scanning the alleyways, watching out for any suspicious looking vehicles or other things of note. Though there were a few small crimes happening around, they always ended up being dealt with by the other heroes.

Rimuru scrutinised the heroes taking notice of how alot of them acted in a way that they best felt would attract the public's attention towards them.

Some acted calmly, other's were arrogant or even humble. Watching everything happening from such a great distance really amused Rimuru who shook his head and continued his patrol. Soon enough, Rimuru checked his phone taking notice of the time as he headed to the beach where Midoriya and All Might were at.

"Yo! Midoriya-Kun! Skeleton-San! How is training coming along?"

All Might in his Toshinori form coughed out blood at the unexpected nickname given to himself, but Midoriya laughed a little at Rimuru's nickname to All Might's civilian form as he responded.

"It's going great Rimuru-San! I'm almost completely finished with the clean up!"

Rimuru nodded his head as he looked around the almost completely empty beach.

"That's good to hear Midoriya-Kun. While on the topic of training, do you have any interest in trying out martial arts?"

"Martial arts?"

Both Midoriya and Toshinori questioned in surprise as Rimuru explained what he meant.

"While training your body isn't necessarily bad, martial arts can also greatly improve your ability to use your strength more wisely instead of fighting like a brutish gorilla like All Might does. Only knowing how to punch things really, really, really hard."

Toshinori looked personally attacked by Rimuru's words as he replied.

"O-Oi! What do you mean I fight like a gorilla?!"

Rimuru ignored him as he continued.

"Incorporating martial art's into your fighting style will help you not only build strength and stamina, it will also improve hand eye coordination, reflexes, build even more discipline and help you keep a calm mind in stressful situations."

Midoriya looked hyped up by Rimuru's words before deflating as he spoke.

"But even if I wanted to train Martial Art's, there is so many to choose from and the UA entrance exam is roughly 3 months away. And I still need to finish cleaning up the beach. And then there is also the fact that I would need to find someone willing to train me. So it might be difficult for me to fit it into my schedule especially since I also still attend middle school. Not to mention, it could clash with the training plan All Might already prepared for me."

Rimuru nodded in understanding as he gave his own solution to Midoriya's issue.

"Don't worry Midoriya-Kun. You can leave your Martial Art's training to me. I may not look like it, but I am fairly well versed in mixed martial arts. I know Boxing, Taekwondo, Judo, Muay Thai, Parkour, Wing Chun and Jeet Kune Do. But only their basics as I incorporated them into a mixed martial arts style that allowed for good offense and defense.

It's why I was considered the strongest student in my high school years. I never relied solely on my quirk but learned how to fight in close quarters as well. As for the issues of picking your first martial art technique. I recommend starting off with boxing. It's probably the fastest martial arts you can learn in just a few sessions as all it focuses on are punches, footwork and defense.

Such as jabs, crosses, hooks, uppercuts, basic footwork, and defense such as slipping, blocking, and guarding. And the plan Toshinori has prepared for you? We can alter it to incorporate martial arts training as well.

And since you seem worried about cleaning the beach, I'll help you out."

Rimuru's words weren't a bluff. Back in his old world, he would frequently spar against Kyojuro, Ichijo, and Sasaki with Maria and Uoharu on super rare occasions. Originally, he only knew Muay Thai, Parkour, Boxing and Taekwondo. However, it seems like in this worlds "history", Rimuru had also learned other forms of Martial Arts and his body has the muscle memory of the other martial arts he's apparently studied. Both Midoriya and Toshinori looked surprised and impressed by Rimuru's words, but Midoriya questioned Rimuru with doubt.

"But don't you have hero work? I don't want to waste your time by training me."

Rimuru waved his hand in reassurance as he spoke.

"Don't worry. I can finish my work early and come help clean up and train you. We will go through the basics and then do some light sparring to get you used to fighting. Of course, this is all under the fact that Toshinori is in agreement with it. After all, he is still your mentor."

Both Rimuru and Midoriya looked at Toshinori who seemed to be pondering Rimuru's offer.

"I can understand how learning to properly fight will benefit young Midoriya. Hrrm."

Toshinori closed his eyes pondering deeply as he sighed opening his eyes as he answered.

"Very well then. I will agree to have Midoriya learn boxing with you. However, if possible I would prefer you don't help Midoriya with cleaning the beach as it's pivotal to his training. We can have a 30 minute boxing session after every hour."

Rimuru shook his head as he replied.

"I'm going to have to disagree with you there. Since Midoriya-Kun is still a student in Middle School he's most likely finishing between 4 to 5 pm if he's having any extra curricular activities.

And after school he obviously needs to go home, freshen himself up, have lunch then head on over to the beach which I would assume would take anywhere between an hour to an hour and a half maybe two hours if something important and unexpected happened.

So, my recommendation is to have me aid the boy with cleaning up the beach speeding up the task, and then I can guarantee that allowing Midoriya-Kun the extra time remaining to focus solely on his fighting technique that will be the foundation for his future Martial Art's training when he's ready to incorporate other forms of Martial Art's to better aid him. And if your truly worried about his training, we can take this to a nearby gym when all the trash has been cleaned up."

Toshinori pondered deeply before sighing as he nodded in agreement.

"Very well then. I'll agree with your offer. You can help young Midoriya clean up, but the heavy objects are his to move alone. Things like tin cans, plastic or paper can be handled by yourself."

Rimuru nodded in agreement as he spoke.

"Then, with all of that settled, I'll take my leave for today. But before I go, Midoriya-Kun. Let me give you a piece of advice. No matter how fast you wish to hrow stronger, pushing yourself without giving your body the proper time it needs to rest will only damage it and slow your progress or worse cripple yourself. So don't forget to rest, maybe hit a hot springs and drink some green tea. I've heard it's two great ways to relieve your sore muscles and relax."

Midoriya's eyes widened at Rimuru's advice as he flinched slightly before replying.

"B-But I need to grow stronger as soon as possible! Otherwise I won't be able to become stronger to save others!"

Rimuru sighed from behind his mask as he responded.

"And unless you want to watch heroes saving others from a hospital bed, you will take proper rest days without overtraining understood?"

Rimuru spoke sternly causing Midoriya to slump in sorrow as Toshinori spoke.

"Young Rimuru is right Midoriya. Training is important, but resting is just as if not more important than training."

Rimuru then spoke up.

"I understand you really want to grow as strong as possible, but understand that you are still a human being. Your body has it's own limits that if pushed too hard without giving it the proper time to rest and recover you'll never grow stronger faster, instead you might irreversibly damage it. Patience is key to success."

Midoriya just nodded his head as he spoke in understanding.

"Alright. I'll make sure to properly rest and recover my body and not overtrain myself."

Rimuru and Toshinori nodded at Midoriya's words as Rimuru spoke as he faded away.

"See you guys soon!"

Rimuru waved before completely disappearing from their visions as Midoriya exclaimed in shock.

"Oh my goodness! Rimuru-San disappeared like a ghost! But he told me his quirk was to create things like swords. Does this mean Rimuru-San has two quirks?"

Toshinori just decided to remain silent watching Rimuru disappear as the two prepared to return to their respective homes.

Meanwhile, Rimuru had fone to a different buffet where he indulged himself in a good dinner enjoying the look of shock on the employees faces when they witnessed Rimuru eating. And soon after, upon returning home Rimuru remembered about the bounded field he had set up as he entered the house and disabled the bounded field allowing his house to no longef be ignored by others as he brushed his teeth, washed his face and went to sleep to prepare himself for the upcoming three months until the UA Entrance Exams where he will begin his teaching career.

Before he closed his eyes to sleep, Rimuru spoke aloud to himself.

"Starting tomorrow, I'm going to need to expose myself more to the public. After all, I won't get paid if I'm not seen doing work. But that's also another nuisance since I really don't like social interaction unless necessary. Whatever, I'll leave this hassle to tomorrow me. For now, time for a quick rest."

Leaving things at that, Rimuru closed his eyes and went to sleep to prepare himself for tomorrow.
