Figuring that there was no point in wondering about it, I quickly followed after her. Kat led me out to the small garden in front of the orphanage building before she urged for me to take a seat on the bench.
“What’s up with getting me all alone?” I asked teasingly.
Kat sat down next to me on the bench before she seemed to hesitate a little while she gathered her thoughts. Her hands were fidgeting with each other, and I could tell that she was nervous. I decided to wait for her in silence for her to be ready to tell me whatever it was that she wanted or needed to.
“The thing is…” Kat began before trailing off.
My eyes widened at her as my curiosity started taking over me. What does she want to tell me?
“Is something the matter? You can tell me anything, you know. I’ll help you for sure,” I told her reassuringly.
“Nothing is wrong. The thing is…Nick and I have decided to get married,” Kat finally confessed with a giddy look on her face.
…what?
