Finally, after what felt like hours, (that stench could make any time feel like hours), Leza stopped the group. She pointed up at a small manhole cover, then carefully moved it out of place.
"Stop! Come any closer and I will attack. Come out with your hands up!" A voice shouted from above that cover. They had been caught.
Leza instantly dropped her disguise, hearing that voice and seeing who had demanded it.
"What the hell are you doing?" Devotion shouted, seeing her drop the disguise. Wasn't that a recipe for disaster?
"Leza?" That voice was taken aback, and Devotion heard the sound of a weapon lowering.
"I recognize that voice. It's the Blair woman I was in hiding with." Ysmir's voice rang out in Devotion's head, making this entire exchange make so much more sense. Hadn't Leza said she knew that Blair, and that she was trustworthy?
"So, look who came crawling back. Couldn't deal with the real world on your own, princess?" Blair said, anger obvious in her voice.
