The hair on Sabine's neck had been standing erect all day, she was developing a tick in her neck with how often she kept looking behind herself and it hadn't helped she had the night shift today as well. Her breathing would stop every time the bell on the door rattled then she would sigh in relief when a customer came in. At least then she wasn't alone in the store but it had been almost thirty minutes since no one had come in. Her breathing quickened and she couldn't stop looking at the door. It was as if her body knew, the way it prickled with anticipation and focus. She could almost hear herself counting down till he walked into the store.
But there was no one, there was no jingle, only quiet, eerie quiet. Suddenly she felt a presence behind her and in a split second, she felt the cold of metal against her neck. "Expecting me?" His cold, stern voice filtered into her ears and the scream was lost in a soft gasp.
