Chapter 38 - Tossed to the trash

ASHER

That video was on every news channel and every social media platform, basically trending up a storm as we sat in that room, I couldn't catch a break. To say I was furious would be putting it lightly, I have never felt so intensely before, leave it to Isabelle Byun to continue to push me farther and farther away from rational thinking and closer and closer to finally snapping. I couldn't even be pleased about the fact that my family had come to terms with the news of her deceit. This news was the worst thing that had happened to my family and my second uncle killed someone in a hit and run while he was around my age.

At my grandfather's signal the screen went blank and the room grim, the atmosphere had dropped to a considerably lower temperature, I had never seen such a look in his eyes before.

"I have called several madams of different groups, who practically begged me before to let my dear grandson marry into their families and they refused, not even an excuse they refused blatantly to my face!" My grandmother yelled.

"One even had the audacity to tell mom that her ride was long that the era of the Quings had come to an end" my aunt added.

My grandfather turned to Isabelle who was sitting across from me by his left, "do you realize what you have done?" His voice carried no volume but the words were powerful enough to provide the desired impact all on their own. I know this because right before we were in this room I was alone with my grandfather.

"Did your parents not raise you right how can you be so vulgar and rash?" He asked her, looking to her uncle and aunt, "what have you two been doing not to educate her properly?!"

All three of them sitting side by side unable to meet anyone's eyes, just sat there with their heads hung. "And you, how dare you to come into this house and smile like you are an angel when you are nothing but a vulgar witch?" My grandmother added, "if your parents didn't teach you any etiquette, then destroy only yourself how dare you drag Asher into it?!"

Isabelle's eyes finally met mine for the first time since she came in here, yes, that's right feel that intense anger and feel that excruciating hurt let it be your punishment. After everything you have done, it is only right! She looked to her uncle and aunt but it seemed she had annoyed everyone, not that I was surprised though, it was Isabelle making people angry was kind of her specialty.

"I am so sorry sir, there are no words I can utter to express how regretful and disappointed I am but I offer my humble apology" her uncle bowed before my grandfather, and honestly I was shocked. This never happened, what were they trying to do? After everything that happened it was common knowledge that the one who apologizes first was the loser, he didn't even try to fight her case first he just gave in like that. My gaze went back to her, it seemed she also was not expecting it with the way her wide eyes stayed on her uncle's bowing form and her lips parted in shock.

And as though to add fire to the already burning situation her aunt spoke, "I know this is no excuse as I should have been able to turn her into an elegant lady ready for society, but you have to see how much of a mess she was after her parents died. I know they were our family but I can't even hide how terrible of a job they did."

"Aunty!" Isabelle exclaimed.

"I don't think talking now is the right thing to do," my stepmother said curtly to Isabelle and with a bitter look, she shrank back into her seat.

"That's enough, the truth of the matter is that you two, Asher and Isabelle will still be getting married."

My eyes widened and as I began to object my grandmother did it for me, "you want us to accept such a vulgar woman as our daughter in law?!" She screamed but his glare was enough to shut the room up.

"You have said it yourself, no other family would want to be associated with a scandal like this, and let us face it. If both companies come together there is no way any other business can even look at us, talk less of overtaking, or compete with us." He explained but it didn't do anything to quell the discomfort I felt. "They will be getting married in three months' time, I want you to begin to prepare for it." He said to my stepmother and as usual, she gracefully agreed. "You will have graduated medical school by then will you not?"

"Yes," she answered softly.

"Good, it is settled then." He said and I swear I felt like pulling out my hair in frustration, how does this always keep happening? No matter what I do every single time it always seems that this would be my grandfather's answer to anything concerning Isabelle. It couldn't be because she saved his life, no. He wasn't that sentimental, so what was it that she was doing that made him like her like this? Any other person literally any other person would have kicked her to the curb, even her own family shunned her, there was no coming back from that but with simple words, she had value in this family again, not as she did before my grandmother would never want her again but she wasn't as hopeless as she was made this morning.

As my grandfather got up the rest of us stood up with him, he grunted, looking around the room, "how are you wife and son?" He asked my second uncle.

"There are doing well" my uncle answered curtly.

"Take care of her, make sure she doesn't lose that child, at this point we are going to need all the grandchildren this family can produce." MY heart skipped a beat at that statement, was I about to be tossed aside? Is that why he pushed for this marriage?

"Miss Byun, I would like to see you personally in my office, come."
