ASHER
This is beyond pointless in my opinion, I don't know why I have to do this but grandfather is the one that organized this party to prove to the world mostly his stockholders that he was still healthy after everything that happened. I cannot refuse to attend, it has been a stressful week in the company but it is the least I could do, I was birthed, for this reason, right?
The reporters were everywhere and due to my recent debut… if you can call it that they have been following me around all night. In times like this, I actually miss living abroad. No one knew who I was over there and I could be whoever I wanted. But now? I was Asher Quing, heir to the biggest business in the country the Quing empire. And just as I thought things were beginning to calm down all the reporters began to run towards the red carpet.
Yes, there was a red carpet at the dinner party, leave it up to my family to do the most. At first, I couldn't tell why they were so much havoc but the moment they stepped back to take a picture and I saw that slender graceful figure walk up to the red carpet I was not surprised.
I couldn't help but scoff, sure there was a red carpet but wasn't that overdoing it? Isabelle Byun looked like a top star with the red long off-shoulder dress she wore that clung to her curves perfectly. Even her look seemed different, her makeup must have been done differently. I will not deny Miss Byun's looks, she had this very pale skin and red lips, a cute nose, and big eyes, she looked like a fairy princess that did not belong on earth. But her makeup look today brought her to earth, she looked like a goddess. Like she was superior to everyone else.
I was a bit grateful that she held the attention of the reporters but I was curious about her interview with them so I stepped closer. This party isn't something I chose to attend and even though she looks good I know deep down she is the absolute opposite of her looks. But this time cannot pass me by, I intend on exposing her true nature before everyone tonight. At least it would make my being here a lot more bearable.
ISABELLE.
"You look absolutely breathtaking Miss Byun." One of the reporters called out of the group of them and I bowed while looking away shyly in response. My reactions at this party were everything, I desperately needed to fix my reputation with the public to properly fix up my reputation.
"Thank you, I try to look my best for all the reporters here tonight, it is also my responsibility to ensure you have beautiful pictures" I respond.
"How do you feel today? The richest family in all of the country is throwing a special party just to thank you." Another reporter asked.
"I am honestly overwhelmed really, but don't you think you are overestimating me? This party isn't to thank me. The chairman has only invited me here tonight while he shows the world just how strong and vibrant he is." I reply tactically.
"Hey.. are you being too modest or are you just playing dumb?" Another one commented but I replied with a vague smile. "Well then I'll ask you this instead, how does it feel to be the reason the chairman survived his accident?"
I don't know how to answer this, "um… I guess I only did what was required of me as a doctor in training. I can't just sit back and watch someone in pain and do nothing." I answered telling a half-truth.
"But most people including other trained medical professionals insist that what you did was wrong and beyond risky while some others say you just got lucky, what do you have to say to that?" Damnit… I fell into that one on my own, didn't I?
"Who are these medical professionals?" I frown "don't tell me you already went to ask around the teaching hospital wow you reporters are really diligent," I say unable to hide my ire.
"Speaking about the school, is it true that you have been a bad performer for years now, if so how were you confident to save the chairman's life when you've been such a bad student?" This right here is why I hate reporters.
"I won't take any more questions thank you," I say firmly, picking up my dress I Begin to walk off the red carpet but the reporters continue to be reporters, they are even more persistent as I try to make my escape. What the actual hell?
"Oh look who it is… our second distinguished guest for today" Mrs. Linn gestured to me and I couldn't be more grateful, stepping down the stage I basically ran towards her.
"Thank you so much for that," I said as stepped beside her and we began to walk to the dinner table.
"No worries, I know just how annoying reporters can be. Are you okay? They asked some sensitive questions."
I looked at this woman who was ahead shorter than I was and smiled, genuinely. "I have been worse."
After escorting me to my seat a place set away from the head of the table. Everyone gave a compliment or some comment as they sat down. While I was immersed in the attention and adoration I felt chilly all of a sudden. Turning to my left I saw him, Asher. Glaring at me as though he would just love to grab my neck and throttle me at that moment. But for some reason I couldn't look away, it was like I was getting lost in the intensity of his gaze, it was filled with so much hate but I couldn't pull away. He was swallowing me whole and for some odd reason not only did I not feel scared I found that I didn't hate it. So I let my eyes mirror this sudden bout of confusing emotions. Adding a smile I placed my hand on my chin and let my head tilt to the side. Reveling in the confusion he also felt, he looked away first. Does that mean I won? I did, I definitely did.
