Chapter 2 - Cherry estate.

SABINE.

Rich couldn't begin to describe the Quing family. Generational money, this family sat on top of the one percent and their Cherry estate was a testament to the enormous wealth. A magnificent empire built with the best technology but still designed with a historic and Gothic feel, this cherry estate consisted of two houses, the main house. Apex, home of the patriarch of the house and his firstborn son, the heir to the family empire. Like its name, it stood tall and strong, with antique accessories, scores, and scores of servant and furniture that cost even more than the national budget. Pinnacle, home to the second heir, is more modern and beautiful with nice exterior designs and indoor gardens. It had a green house sort of feel with a bright and lively atmosphere. It was no wonder the youngest grandchild of the family resided there with his father and stepmother.

Today was a special day, the two houses were reviewing new staff for the arrival of the eldest grandson. He had been away from home for twelve years now, at twenty-six he was returning with a doctorate in business administration. Ready to take over as the fourth generation heir. I couldn't begin to under why he would need his own set of staff, I mean this house already had over fifty maids working in the house. But hey, I am obviously not complaining, I am in desperate need of a job and I believe I could find it here.

Sister Theresa, a godsend bless her soul. She recommended me for this job, I was about to be carted off by my father's creditors. This could not have come at a better time. Now I am in a most beautiful outfit, I don't even were this to sunday mass yet I am in the most expensive shoes I possess to interview for a maids position. And despite being a one-of-a-kind designer boots my late mother left to me I still looked plain compared to the other maids here. Well, potential maids.

"May I see your recommendation letter now?" Marisol lee Quing the lady of the family, the older madam, was an heiress from a well-known aristocrat family married to the first son of the Quing family. Honestly, it shocked me when I came in and saw she handled the interviews personally, was this how much she cared for her son's return? This people had a way with them, to common people such as myself they seemed unreal. Unrivaled in elegance and superiority they acted and behaved like the royalty they were.

"I came here on the second Madams' recommendation. Mrs. Linn Quing." I replied, formerly known as Linn Lim, the limelight of her time. She was a well-known and popular actress before she married into this family. She was the one that rescued me from the creditors and I am incredibly grateful to her, but unfortunately, she has no open positions at the pinnacle where she and her husband stay. Besides the security at that house was beyond irrational. The Second Madam was a month pregnant but they wouldn't let anyone without certification and an identity card close to the pinnacle.

"Ah… you are the new maid she recommended." The older Madam commented and I nodded, shifting uncomfortably in my seat at all the glares I began to get. She didn't stop staring at me, oblivious I stuttered.

"Y-yes?"

"Are you asking me a question? Or are you not sure of your identity?" She asked.

Shaking my head in confusion, "I am."

"When I ask you a question I expect a verbal, concise, and reasonable reply. Am I clear?" She stated bluntly and I nodded vigorously before correcting my bad habit.

"Yes ma'am!"

"What is your name?"

"Sabine Bahn, madam," I replied.

"Good" she stated curtly, tapping her ringed finger against her cheek, that looked like a real diamond! "Florence here will take your living quarters and get you acquainted with the house and your duties. That would be all." She stated, getting up and handing the file all our applications were into whom I assumed was Florence.

I was stunned, just like that? The glares got even more intense. "Come with me," Florence said to me.

Blinking at her it took me a while to realize what really just happened. "I'm. .. am I moving I today? I didn't come prepared." The disappointed and annoyed murmurs rose in a cacophony all around me and I couldn't help but feel a bit inferior. But the moment I remembered my little brother's innocent face I settled my resolve, I needed this job. A pair of unfriendly eyes will not set me off, I am stronger than just a little hostility.

"Well, you will have to make do for now, till you get your day off. As of this moment you are an official member of Apex's staff. You will be signing a contract by this evening so make it clear are you in or not?" Florence asked.

"In" I replied immediately, "definitely in."
