Chereads / THE BILLIONAIRE'S DAUGHTER BY A.I / Chapter 2 - CHAPTER 1: LIFE OF THE RICH: IMPERFECT

Chapter 2 - CHAPTER 1: LIFE OF THE RICH: IMPERFECT

We moved to New York after two years, owned several companies all over the world, but my mom, Charlotte Bill Queens, died when I was 12. After her death, my dad lived by the saying that when you love someone, you fight for them. This is the story of my father's new wife. I am now 20 and the next CEO of the XINT group of companies.

"Elsa, your mom and I registered you at a new college. You can ask Javier for more information about the school," my dad told me.

"Thanks, dad. Thanks, mom," I replied.

Anna, my dad's new wife, whispered to him, "She called me mom."

"Dad, can we talk about this over dinner?" I asked, trying to avoid speaking to Anna.

"Yeah, okay, that will be great," she replied.

"Anna, can you give Elsa and me some time to talk?" my dad asked.

"Okay, no problem," Anna replied.

"Elsa," my dad called my name.

"Yes, father," I answered.

"Please, could you please do me a favor and get to know her first?" he pleaded.

"Dad, how do you expect me to do that? I'm really struggling to take all of this in. Mom's death, my brother moving, your accident, and a new mom? This is too much," I panicked.

"And Dad, I want to avoid betraying you, my family, and the XINT group of companies. You've affected everyone's life, and for me to pull it down, the weight is just too much for me to bear alone. I've been in pain for a very long time," I added.

"Baby, I understand. I will take care of that. All I want you to do is focus on your studies. Anna and I will not push you into what will be too much for you to handle," my dad said empathetically.

"I want you to take the week off before you resume school, so you can rest and eat well. You won't join the company until you're ready," he further affirmed.

"So you don't have a problem, and this summer, the whole family will be coming. Kara is moving here this week!" my dad said, with an awkward and suspecting look.

"I'm so excited, Daddy! Thanks a lot. You're the best!" I gave him a big kiss on the cheek. He takes good care of me and sometimes doesn't make me feel like Mom is dead.

After two days of seeing a psychologist, I felt better, but talking to Dad about starting to run the company and going to college was getting harder. I barely saw him, and when I did, we didn't get time to talk. Seeing Kara, my niece, and nephew was one of the best things in the world for me. They were so cute, and they always made me forget about my pain. I felt like I could face anything thrown at me.

Kara moving here with me might help. I wasn't even sure about it. Now, I just had to talk to Dad, or I could talk to Mom. She would be so happy to help. If she helps me, we could go out today to do a mother and daughter day. You can't judge Anna by Dad's accident, right?

"Aunt Elsa!" I heard the cutest voice running to me.

"Aww, my babies. How are you doing, Gabby, Ella?" I asked.

"We are fine," they replied joyously. I couldn't resist giving them a hug.

"Are you ready to stay here?" I asked them.

"Yeah, will you take us to school tomorrow?" they asked simultaneously.

One thing that makes them so adorable is that they always speak together. It's very hard to resist their cutest eyes.

"Yes, babies, why don't we go tell Grandpa that?" I suggested.

"Yes, we will!" they chorused.

"Any hug for me?" a voice interrupted. I turned and saw my cousin, Kara Christen, Queens. Well, that was her name before; she's now Kara Queens King.

"Hey, baby," I gave her a kiss on the cheek and hugged her tightly.

"Okay, okay, calm down Ells, don't squeeze the life out of my wife," Kara's husband Kilian said.

I wanted to avoid turning back, but I had to try. I turned back and almost regretted it because he is still as handsome and hot as before.

"Hey K," I said, almost choking.

"Seriously, we are still going with K?" he asked, raising his eyebrow. Okay, it's high time I got a boyfriend and stopped looking at someone else's husband. I said to myself.

"Okay, why don't Ells help me unpack, while you, babe, go with the kids to tell Dad that Elsa is ready to go to school?" Kara suggested.

"Okay, take this then," Kilian said, giving me the bags in his hands. I almost tripped, and then he reacted almost immediately, like in a Mexican telenovela. "Oh, sorry, is it too heavy?" he said in his raspy, beautiful voice.

"No, thanks, don't worry," I protested. I really need to start avoiding him.

"Okay, spill," Kara shouted excitedly after Kilian left with Gabby and Ella.

"We haven't even gotten to your room yet, Kara," I tried to avoid talking.

"Come on, Elsie, tell me," Kara protested.

"If I didn't know you, I wouldn't believe you were married with two kids," I said, raising my eyebrow.

Kara rolled her perfect blue eyes. I have always seen Kara as my sister and the perfect girl. Before she got married, she was the girl every guy drooled over, and she was the girl that nobody dared to mess with. Now that she's a mom, I had expected her to be a softie, but being a mom couldn't even soften her a bit; nobody dared mess with her. Usually, she reminds me of my mom. Once mom said lights out, nobody dared disobey, not even dad. Mom ran the house perfectly.

"Okay, fine, I haven't done anything fun. I went to dad's office, and I met numerous people," I was saying, but was interrupted.

"Any guy?" Kara asked.

"Not the man I want or would like. They are mostly people that just want to befriend me because I will be their new president," I said, a little pained.

"Okay, if you say so," Kara said, which made me laugh out loud.

"Come on, big sis. I will find the right guy at the right time. Now let's go cook with Mom and hope Dad allows me to go to school tomorrow," I tried to change the topic, hoping she would drop it.

"Amen, baby girl, amen," Kara shook her head.

This mansion we moved to is much bigger than my expectations because all rooms have their sitting room and kitchen, it is like you are in a completely different house, Kara's place as four rooms, a sitting room, a kitchen, and a playground for children, well, dad really built mom's dream house.  Getting to mom's kitchen, her face lit up, I wondered why,

"Hey Anna, do you mind if I help you with the cooking"

I could almost say I saw a glint of sadness as I called her name

 "Mom, are you okay?"

I touched her face and this was the brightest smile I have ever seen on her face, wow! I just noticed her dimples, she is so cute for a woman in her late thirties.

"Mom, do you think dad will let Els here go to school tomorrow?" Kara asked

"whoa, whoa, tomorrow?" now it was my turn to give her my brightest smile,

"Come on baby, you know your dad just wants you to be fine, the board is already putting pressure on your dad, and he can't risk seeing his daughter explode in public" Anna tried to explain

"Oh come on mom, you can talk to dad, right? Pretty please" I gave my best puppy eyes, I knew it worked as she sighed.

"Okay fine" she answered, making me squeal for joy

"Yes! You are the best", I hugged her tightly. I am Elsa Elizabeth Queens.

Kara's house had four rooms, a sitting room, a kitchen, and a playground for children. It was like being in a thoroughly different house. Her dad had really built her mom's dream home.

As I walked into Mom's kitchen, her face lit up. I wondered why.

"Hey Anna, do you mind if I help you with the cooking?" I asked, noticing a glint of sadness in her eyes as I said her name.

"Mom, are you okay?" I touched her face and saw the brightest smile I had ever seen on her. Wow! I just noticed her dimples. She was so cute for a woman in her late thirties.

"Mom, do you think Dad will let ELS go to school tomorrow?" Kara asked.

"Whoa, whoa, tomorrow?" Now it was my turn to give her my brightest smile.

"Come on baby, you know your dad just wants you to be fine, the board is already putting pressure on your dad, and he can't risk seeing his daughter explode in public" Anna tried to explain

Kara's house had four rooms, a sitting room, a kitchen, and a playground for children. It was like being in an entirely different house. Her dad had really built her mom's dream home.

       VERONICA GRACE MONTEZ

I thought my life was the best until things started going bad, my dad became president, my perfect family became the perfect family outside, but the broken home inside, I couldn't go to school, my brother became so irresponsible, I begged to leave, so I can school like every other human being, I started living with, my roommate Zoe Evans, my childhood friend, missed two years of school because of presidency position, that was what I was told, before my dad became the president. He was in a business group pioneered by he and his friends, it is called THE XINT-MEN GROUP OF COMPANIES, It is a group of four families.

There were only three families known to be the most prominent in the world – the Browns, the Queens, and the Montez. Each family was known for their expertise in various fields. The Browns excelled in science, technology, and food. They were known for their branded machines and owned one of the best restaurants worldwide. The Queens were known for transportation, their clothing line, their five-star hotels, and entertainment. The Montez family was known for education and politics.

My name is Veronica Montez, and I am the only daughter of Zane and Zamora Montez. However, I chose to go by the name Veronica Prescott because I wanted a normal life. I had to change my appearance to avoid attracting too much attention. As a blonde, I wear a short black wig and dress like a color-blinded nerd. I am a geek at home, so being a smarty-pants is not an issue for me. I also wear glasses that are a little larger than my eyes. Not only that, but I wear reading glasses, originally. Furthermore, I had to manage this way, and now I am in my final year without much interference, except from Kimberly DE Real, who takes pleasure in bullying people. She has pushed me to the point of using my karate training on her. She's not the only one who has testified to her cruelty, but Zoe is a testimony to her kindness. Kimberly's parents own the second-best school in America, "Winners College," and her Aunt is the Provost of the school, making her untouchable. Kimberly started her career as an actress since childhood and has won awards, which made her feel superior to everyone. That really pisses me off most times. Zoe is a handful, and I never went back to my house without bodyguards following me on a low-key.

I really wanted to reveal my true identity to my best friend and roommate, Zoe. But my dad threatened to separate us and make sure I change schools if I told anyone. My dad is still part of the XINT-MEN group of companies, even though he is the president. He can get anything he wants, thanks to his connections and influence. My brother is set to take over my dad's role in the company, since I have no interest in being part of the XINT Group of Companies. This annoyed my dad, and when he found out that my brother depended on me a lot and wouldn't grow up, he made me move. I used my illness as an excuse to leave the house, even though it hurt my brother deeply.

I still see my brother almost everyday on TV, and I am delighted to see that he is getting better. He has become more humble and matured.

"Zoe, it's time to go. We have lectures at 10 am, and it's already 9:00 am!" I said.

"V, you're such a perfect timing freak," Zoe replied. She was studying mechanical engineering and taking three to four online courses, including German and Italian language and a psychology class. I, on the other hand, was studying fine art and taking online courses on education and fashion designing. I introduced Zoe to online classes, and she beat me to it.

Suddenly, the doorbell rang.

"V, could you get the door, please?" Zoe shouted.

"Okay, Zoe," I said.

I went to the door and saw my favorite bodyguard, Tiffany, and another man.

"Good morning, how can I help you?" I asked, referring to the tall man in a black suit who looked like a bodyguard too.

"I am here to see Miss. Zoe Evans," he said.

"Okay, I will get her for you, but can I know why you are here?" I asked, feeling a bit suspicious.

"Her father sent her a message," he said.

"Hmm, weird," I thought to myself.

"Okay," I said, winking at Tiffany.

"Zoe, you have a message!" I shouted.

"Okay, just a minute!" she shouted back.

Zoe came out wearing faded green baggy shorts and a white blouse with her ginger hair. She looked beautiful, and I still wonder why a black girl can be a redhead. As she stepped out with the man, I talked to Tiffany. I knew the message was important because my dad doesn't disturb us unless it is something urgent.

"Okay spill girl" I placed an emphasis on the girl because I know she doesn't like it

"firstly, don't call me girl and secondly, you have an invitation from your dad"

"okay thanks?" I wonder what my dad is up to this time around.

I read it and I almost jumped for joy but stopped because my dad invited the XINT-MEN families to welcome the new shareholder, the DE reals,

"Veronica, are you okay?" Tiffany asked?

"Why will he do this? What are they thinking?" I asked no one in particular.

"I feel it is a family tide, I have done my job, and I am leaving now so bye" she left almost laughing at my face, I was so pissed, why will dad do that? I saw Zoe walking so fast with a face matching mine and with her hand at her back like she was hiding something.

"Are you okay?" I asked, hoping she will tell me.

"yeah, I will be fine" she gave me a brief smile,

"Can we leave now?" currently my question is getting answered, but I want to avoid having to leave my friend and this peaceful life and besides, she might hate me because I lied to her for four years of our friendship. I am ready to take that risk of her hatred, but I would like to avoid having to leave her and this life.

          REX MONTEZ

Dad, come on. You changed my college from our family's own to The Winners', and now you want to marry me off to Kimberly?" I said, frustration evident in my voice.

"Honey, your dad isn't forcing you into marriage. He just wants you to find the right girl, and the DE Reals are good people and good friends of your father," my mother, the first lady and a shareholder of the XINT-Men Zamora Montez, interjected.

I began to hate my family. I really missed my twin sister. Furthermore, I didn't want to believe she was dead. Whenever I asked about her, my parents changed the topic. She even changed her phone number. I tried using guards to find her, but they couldn't. Even Mr. Brown couldn't find her. I felt my parents were hiding numerous things from me. Now, my dad believed that if I didn't find a fiancée soon, I wouldn't be able to get one in the future.

Being the next heir to one of the best companies in the world was becoming increasingly irritating. All my other relatives were already taking over their parents' subsets of The XINT-Men group of companies under the Montez', with their partners. Even Joe Montez, the notorious bad boy, was engaged. My parents were getting desperate, and were willing to marry me off to the last daughter of the DE Reals. I had only one month to find the perfect girl, or I was toast. If Veronica were here, she would have stood up for me. They intended to announce my engagement at the celebration for the new shareholder, which was next month, on October 14th.

I am Rex Montez, the only son of Zamora and Zane Montez. My parents were getting really annoying, and they knew it. I was going to find out what they were hiding about the company and about my twin sister, and nobody was going to stop me. And please, Mrs. Right, can you come fast?

                 ZOE BROWN

"I am so angry at my dad for setting me up on a date and for agreeing to merge with the DE Reals. What was he thinking? I love my dad, but he can be controlling and intrusive. He is a single parent and one of the best scientists, engineers, and professors. He has six PhDs, four Masters, and several other certificates and awards. While I am not a person who wants to study all her life, I just want to be independent.

Since the incident that involved my mom's death and almost took my life, my dad has been overly protective. I love him for it, but I also hate it. The incident made me value being celibate, so I just want to be alone. But The XINT-Men group of companies made it a condition that no heir will be able to take over without having their partner with them. I think the law is stupid and doesn't make sense, but my dad said they all believe being a shareholder is a great responsibility, and having your spouse will make it easier and less strenuous for you. My dad is allowed to be an exception because he is recovering from my mom's incident, and he is handing over soon.

I live with Veronica and have to be in disguise because of the enemies who captured my mom. I don't wish to hide anything from my best friend, but I have to. Furthermore, I don't want her to suffer because of me. But once I am done with my training at the Agent X, I will open up to her. I don't want to lose my friend, but I know Veronica already has a suspicion, and she will find out soon. I miss my mom, and I am sure she would know how to make me understand and not set me up on fifteen different horrible dates after telling me just a day ago. Not only that, but I really had every girl's dream of marrying their prince charming, but that was all thrown into the trash can when the incident happened. Furthermore, I am Zoe Brown, the only daughter of Charlie Brown.
