Chapter 19 - The Stranger

The sudden shock made her fall on to the bathroom floor. It was a man. He was wearing a pink coat. His nails were long and black. His face was of multiple colours. His thin long lips were supporting a wide weird smile. Kett wrapped her arms around her, hugging herself. The man moved towards her, his pointed shoes in the lead. She crawled backwards until she met a dead end. The man came to her and knelt in front of her. He ran his long disgusting nails up and down her face making her tremble. She wanted to close her eyes so badly. But something was stopping her. She couldn't make up her mind to block the man from her vision. She started to feel her whole body burning. It felt like hundreds of insects were crawling on every inch of her body. Her body almost gave up her consciousness as heavy trembles moved along her spine. She finally managed to shut her eyes. Her face wrinkled as she kept them tightly shut. Once she opened her eyes, the man was gone and everything was back to normal. Only water was dripping down the shower breaking the silence. She got up and dried herself up. Then she hurridely dressed herself in some of Emma's clothes because she hadn't brought any with her. Luckily, the two friends were of same size. She ran into the room and made her body fall on to the bed like a bird falling down from the sky. Her wet hair spreaded all over the pillow. She was still trembling from the past incident. After a couple of minutes Emma entered the room. "Kett are you sleeping again?" Her voice spoke, breaking the silence. "No, I'm just lying down." Kett replied wearily. "Why? Anything wrong dear?" Emma asked making her way to the bed. "Nothing's wrong." "Really?" She climbed on to the bed and lied beside her, asking sarcastically. "Oh come on. I know you're not all fine. Tell me what's troubling you." Kett looked at Emma's eyes. They were filled with some motherly love she couldn't reject. "I just saw a man in the shower." She said taking her eyes away from hers. "Again?" Emma's thin eyes widened as she asked. Kett nodded silently. "You know it's just a hallucination right? You should definitely go to that doctor. Don't you think so?" She asked. "I think, yes." Words escaped from Kett's mouth slowly in a low tone. "We will go tomorrow morning then." Emma said decorating her face with a comforting smile. "Forget it now. Let's go and have some lunch." "I'm not hungry." Kett said looking away. "But I am and I'm not gonna eat alone so you'll have to eat too." She ordered while pulling Kett from the hand and running down the stairs. Two empty ceramic plates were waiting for them when they arrived at the kitchen table. A pancake was being cooked on the stove giving out a nice fresh smell. A little strawberry cake was looking delicious on the table. The baken meat was waiting to be dug in. Kett pulled out one of the chairs and sat down while Emma went to the stove to take the final pancake out of the pan. She put it straight on Kett's plate. The warmth of it made her forget everything and made her insides starve. She hurriedly put it in her mouth and almost burnt her tongue making her to spit it out. "Careful gurl!" Emma said smiling. "Look who wasn't hungry now." She continued looking at her friend who was eating like a pig. "Did you cook these?" Kett asked. "Yes, all of it." "Woah. You're my superhero." Kett said sarcastically, fixing a look of amusement on her face while ravenously digging into the strawberry cake. "Just because you can't cook a single thing." Emma laughed. "Well, in case you didn't know, I can do whatever I put my mind into." Kett said proudly. "Haha. You obviously can until a cockroach appear at your foot." Emma said referring to Kett's fear of cockroaches. "You'll see." They continued in their conversation as their laughs and giggles filled the kitchen.

It was almost dinner time when they finally got up from their seats, so they decided better not to have that much of a dinner and Kett cooked some soup from a cook book trying to prove that she's capable of it. Emma burst out of laughter as she placed a bowl of almost burnt soup in front of her after struggling with it for a couple of hours. "Why are you laughing?" Kett asked like an innocent little kid, her wide eyes making her even more cuter than she already was. "Well, I wonder whether this soup was supposed to look so burnt." Emma said winking at her friend. "The book said to burn it so I did." Kett replied not leaving her pride even for a second. "Wait what? It definitely did not." Emma said turning to the recipe of the soup in the huge cook book.

*Allow to simmer for an hour or two.*

"It says to simmer it, not burn it." Emma said. "Really? Lemme have a look." Kett took the recipe book and scribbled something on it with a marker.

*Allow to _burn_ for an hour or two.*

"You see the instructions clearly say to burn it. Go change you're contact lenses." She said while diving into her soup. No matter how burnt it was, it was still edible. After doing the dishes Kett ran to the guest room while Emma chased her up the stairs. They both got into their seperate rooms and slept until the Sun was up.
