"You should have rested more. You slept an hour." Putting the book aside because I didn't want Colton to see it and since I was referring to the relationship of rare, which was embraced.
But instead of saying anything, he softens his focus on me and stares at me with affection.
"Should we notify the Dean of what happened?" I speak, shattering the enchantment, and Colton returns to the torture. He acknowledges my hand with a bow.
I used projection magic to communicate with the dean's answers. He seems at home rather than in the office. This is because he is wearing casual clothing rather than a suit. He glanced at us while examining Colton's face, and then he turned his attention to me. I recounted what happened every evening, Colton clutched my hand tighter, realizing the Fae healing magic to help him stay calmer, and Dean Mark listened to my explanation. We sat for a few minutes as Dean seemed lost in thought, and Colton looked like a wreck.
"Aria… On the happenings, I'm not sure what to say and I'll investigate into aliens and Dan's relation to my information to see what I can come up with. Colton, don't give up hope yet." As the dean spoke, he nodded, his eyes downcast at the dean. "Aria, take care of him with your Fae magic." I give a brief nod, and it's clear that Dean has understood why I'm holding his hand and watching Colton keep the wolf under control.
"Aria, attempt to locate the missing humans that were attacked by aliens. I need to address this with the Human administration." I nodded as the projection magic ended and glanced at Colton, who was holding my hand securely. "You can't give up just yet, Colton." Because I didn't enjoy seeing Colton in this state, I attempted to utter a few words.
"It's much easier said than done, Aria." He said.
"Colton sulking won't help you, and what if Dan were here, would enjoy you sulking?" He let out a long sigh before turning his attention to me. "We need to talk about this with the rest of the squad." Colton stated he was breaking the grip and moved away from me. Colton's lack of emotion let me down. He then walked into the kitchen and placed the kettle on the burner.
"It seems you could not drink your tea," he replied, looking at the colder tea sitting on the table. I groaned, and his eyes shifted to the book I was trying to conceal under my bag. "You seem to really immersed in your reading." I did my best to conceal my blush as he read the title of the book, since he was holding an amused glance.
He placed the warm tea for me and I saw him preparing coffee for him and taking the warmth of the tea between my hands to assist me in calming tension because even though we had an intimate act, I could feel Colton on me for seconds now and then and we sat in uncomfortable silence again.
When I went to answer the door, Maggie, Hudson, and Xavier all stared at Colton, who sat and watched them enter. "Why did you call us so urgently?" Maggie inquired, looking weary. After I had described everything to them, their eyes became as large as saucers, and they looked sympathy gaze at Colton, and he kept looking at the laptop instead of paying attention to the rest of our colleagues.
Please don't tell me there are bite marks on my neck since Xavier and Hudson looked at it. I just moved my hair to my neck, and their stares bore into me. "Aria.." Colton called me a tint of jealousy. Maggie smiled at me, and I bit my lips as things became uncomfortable.
"I discovered additional incidents compared to the one where the woman died." Colton talk in a commanding manner while not displaying any emotion; he must have seen Hudson and Xavier staring at me. I felt awkward at their stares. Because they suspect something is going on between Colton and me.
"All good, then I'll email this information to Dean immediately," I remarked as I got closer to Colton, his eyes briefly shifted to me, and then he glanced at Hudson and Xavier, who were engaged in some emotional conflict. Still, I pretended not to see it since I was preoccupied with reading the facts. The location seems familiar to me. It is Dawn street, the incidents of missing humans or bodies found. So could it be where the Alien Vrericks are hiding, and if we confirm their number, it will be helpful to call on for backup?
"Most of the missing cases are from the Dawn Street area," I murmured, and Colton approached to double-check the facts. "Let us read the info." Hudson's voice was harsh, and I glanced up from my laptop to find Xavier and Hudson gazing at me while they strode to read. Maggie shook her head when she saw them behaving like such.
I returned to my room and grabbed my jacket as everyone glanced at me. I hurriedly tied the laces on my shoes. "Where are you headed?" With an authoritative tone, Colton questioned.
"Going to Dawn Street and look for more of this information," I said. Every single one of my other teammates let out a low growl at me at the same time.
"No, you're not going," Hudson said coldly.
"There's no way we're leaving without you, Aria." Maggie yawned.
"Are you nut waltzing like that in danger?" Xavier said.
"You may not decide independently; we are team Aria," Colton stated.
They yelled at me to stop, and I sighed. "I can defend myself, but I can't just sit here and do nothing when so many others are in danger."
"Just because you are a hybrid does not make you eternal; you are still human." Hudson snarled.
"I appreciate you bringing it to my attention, Hudson." I returned the growl.
"Enough; let us meet after one hour in front of the apartment gate and explore this region." A loud voice from Colton ended the back-and-forth fight I had been having with Hudson. "That's fantastic, Idea," Maggie said, sighing. They all left my room by strolling by me, and Colton was the last one to depart. When he stopped walking, his eyes turned to stare at me. His hands went around my waist as he drew me in for a kiss, and I moaned against him in a bit of a startle.
He quickly pulled away from the kiss. And I stared at his back as he walked away, then I shut the door and looked at my quiet room. I sat on the couch watching some television series for time to kill, and then after an hour, we all stepped down and went for a walk to Dawn street because we wanted to see if we could get any energy as we passed by the roads and something else.
I see the Hex squad as we approach Dawn Street and our footsteps halt. The moment Bryce's and his team's eyes locked with ours. "What brings you here?" Colton inquired in a manner that was suspicious about them, drawing my attention intently to them. Then I saw Mia using her magic as she hastily concealed something.
"We're scouting the region." Bryce is measuring up his shoulder.
"Who told you had to patrol this area?" Hudson inquired.
"No one, but we feel something is happening in this area, so we came to investigate," Bryce stated calmly, and Colton's eyes fixed on Hex so he could feel the strain. "It's odd how you discovered something is off in this Place." Bryce thought for a while about how to respond.
"Eva sensed some unusual energy, so we arrived here," Bryce replied, and Colton's eyes turned to Eva, who stared at Colton with a little naïve and friendly glance, showing that she has an open past with him. I exhaled a sigh. How much of a Naïve I was in my previous life allowed Eva to take advantage of me by playing a deception on me? Internally, Eva was always as naïve.
I cast a sidelong look at Colton, who was expressionless, and Eva's disappointment mirrored on her face as she noticed Colton's face. "Did you discover anything?" Colton inquired, and Bryce shrugged his shoulders. "Nothing special." He stated that, and I knew he was lying to us, and the way Mia Hid things with magic is strange. Colton gives the nod. "If the Hex scouted the region, we should return." And I stared at Colton, disapproving of his comments, but I didn't dispute with him since he was right: if we announced we'd explore the region, it would cause additional issues between our team and Hex.
The Hex had departed before us, and I attempted to use magic to see anything, but nothing came out of it. The atmosphere seemed as if it were welcoming me to the night's silence. "Come on, Aria, we have to get going, and I can't pick on anything else either." Maggie looked downcast. I returned with the team, and on the way, I couldn't help but feel frustrated at our inability to get any helpful information from this location. I also wondered how Eva had gained such a high level of competence.
