Chereads / Mono-kouneli and the White Crane / Chapter 18 - Facing the truth.

Chapter 18 - Facing the truth.

"I expect you to bring me good news. My beloved son."

Everyone is in the grand hall. Waiting for the news that the prince may have. The prince was kneeling down as his head was facing the ground. Although he doesn't show his expression, he was clenching his fist to be shown that everything didn't go accordingly well based on what he thought to be.

"Prince Eos has successfully captured the girl and we were able to kill her, your Majesty," Weston explained every brief of the succession on killing the young girl. Even though the truth was, they got a hard time looking for her. He said they didn't even break a leg on the searching.

"Good! That is good news! We must celebrate!" Due to the excitement. The king stood; the wine glass is on his hand still as he jumps a few times just to show how grateful he was to hear that news. The queen smiled, supporting her king as she clapped her hands.

"Hahaha!" The laughter echoed into the room. However; only irritated eyes served the king from his beloved son. Prince Eos actually glared at the king, "Damn…" and he even cursed to himself.

He gazed at Weston, the one who ordered their men to shoot without even listening to his command. Weston felt a chill down his spine as he noticed someone is actually glaring at him. When he saw the prince was actually doing that to him, he avoided his stares—he became pale as if he saw a beast glaring out everything from him.

"Now we will just have to wait for the mage. The monster is in the tower, secure that place and don't let anyone visit him without my permission!" the king commanded. "Yes, your Majesty!" everyone retaliates.

The prince left the room without saying anything to anyone. The king and queen received not a single word from their son, he was so disappointed and somehow upset so the two of them didn't bother asking as they only let him do whatever he wants. In the end, they still got what they want or wanted to be.

***

The Mono-Kouneli creature has been brought to the tower that is said to be no doors or windows. He was isolated to everyone else as if he is the kind of beast who mercilessly kills anyone who caught in his sight.

Although that kind of thinking was not real. Everyone doesn't want to have anything to do with him. No one has fed him, or even slipped to get him some water to drink. He was sealed in the darkroom, all by himself, without his trusted butler.

He is down leaning to his knees; his eyes were swollen as he didn't stop from crying right until in this very moment. Maids that have been working outside that tower can clearly hear his howls but none was enthusiastic to check him. They just pretend they don't hear anything.

One of the maids outside the room began gossiping something then. It was all about the massacred village from the south. "What? The slave village was attacked?!" one may have a loud voice as she was very shocked from what she heard to one another.

Enough for Ozciel to hear from outside.

"Yes. They said that the one who attacked was our own soldiers but that can't be real, why would the kingdom do that?"

"But why? Do you know the reason why?"

"Legends told us that the white-haired people only bring misfortune and deaths."

"That's right, that's why soldiers were sent by the king to kill a white-haired person…"

By hearing these. Ozciel was surprised as he stared out the wall. "...White?" he mumbled to himself. He remembered someone when they mentioned the white-haired person immediately. "Krahn!"

"Did they able to kill her?"

"Yes. That's why the king decided to throw a celebration for the whole kingdom."

Ozciel gasped and began to have heavy breathing. "Celebration for her death? Only a monster would do that… these people!" he stood up as his eyes somehow flashed in fiery madness.

Due to the emotional anger, Ozciel was able to blast the wall of the tower that was supposed to be a prison for him.

"Ah!" shouted those three who were gossiping before. They saw the wall was smashed into pieces. They were stunned by what actually happened to the wall by now, they can only stare at it.

The child of calamity that is in grim made his way out. He walked slower as he noticed the three maids standing not too far from him.

"Eek!" they felt the chill right away when they saw the emotionless eyes to be staring out of their soul.

"Krahn… I must… save her…" Although Ozciel lost himself, he doesn't have any intent to kill anyone. He just walked away, left.

However, the three maids didn't let him go quietly. "What are you two doing!?" one of the maids shouted at the two, "Call the guards now! The monster has escaped!"

"E-eh! B-but he is just a child!" one was against it. "Shut up and call someone to capture him! We will be good as dead if he manages to escape from this tower!" but the person who seemed to be in charge explained briefly. The two of them quickly ran to get some help.

Ozciel walked toward the tower's premises like he was missing something—it was his soul, his mind was only telling him to save his friend. He stepped into the staircase like a kind of zombie, but his eyes were leading him to a trail. Perhaps a trail toward his beloved friend Krahn.

"Wait for me… I-I will save you…" he kept on repeating the same words but inside his head, it was a total opposite of how he speaks.

Damn those fools. How dare they hurt my special person. I won't forgive them; I will kill them all.

His inner self was in the grief of darkness. Crying and shouting to be free although he is trying his best to stay in mind, this came to halt when someone blocked his way. A bunch of soldiers came, their shield is up, they don't intend to let Oz take another step to the outside of the tower.

"Halt! We won't let you pass anymore, monster!"

Many believed that Ozciel is a monster, it is because the king himself has labelled him like that. That's why they don't pay any respect to once a prince like him.

"Move." Ozciel didn't tolerate this. He glared at every person blocking his way. The said monster lifted his face to see these people more precise and clearer. His eyes roll on every person he could see in that place, as he leans his arm to his head.

A sharp pain was tingling in his head. Kill them. A voice of a man is clearly trying to manipulate him. "Those idiots will only come your way. If you don't move now. You'll lose that person you dear the most!"

"I don't want to kill anyone but if I have to…" A magic circle was suddenly written up ahead the soldier's position. "Then all of you must die!"

Ozciel's eyes flared in vermillion light as he activate a magic technique himself. He stood there, laughing as if he was the devil and those soldiers were being pressed down to the ground forcefully. Ahaha.

They are going to get smashed all of them. "Aaaa!" the cries of the men who are about to die. Never minding their situation, Ozciel resumed walking. He didn't think of watching them suffer, he left as the soldiers are already down to their knees, trying their best to lift themselves but the forcefield that was pressing them was too powerful.

When Ozciel left, a loud bang from inside the tower shook the whole kingdom. The ground was smashed, along with the soldiers who blocked his path before.

"Wait for me… I will be there shortly…" he smiled bitterly to himself. Ozciel's eyes shed tears, tears for the fallen soldiers? Or for Krahn? No one has the real answer besides himself.

"..." however, someone stepped in once more.

"Where do you think you're going, brother?"
