Chapter 10 Beast Contract and its Misunderstanding
At this moment there's a shout coming from a behind.
"Master! Master, have you seen that troublemaker? While I was attending to him, he suddenly ran out towards here. He was so fast; I can't keep up."
The sudden voice came from the distance and grew louder as a young man running over towards them.
The young man had the appearance between 32 or 33 years old, with a lean but strong body. He was wearing an azure Tang suit with navy blue robe. He was the disciple of the old ancestor, and the younger cousin of the teenager's father.
One of the teenager's uncles.
He was running towards here while addressing the other old man, one of Lin Family's old ancestor, who was also his grandfather and the teenager's great grandfather.
"Calm down. I've repeatedly told you to control your state of mind. That's the key to promote your realm."
"You are already nearing 40 years old. If you're unable to promote to Senior stage by 60 years old, you're hopeless to reach Venerable stage. You might even remain in Junior Stage for life."
"I'm sorry Master. I'll keep that in mind. But what about that troublemaker? He had already rushed towards here. I'm afraid he would cause disaster to the main residence."
"It's okay. Don't worry. Even if you want to chase after him, it's already too late. He already went to accompany the fifth child."
"What? You mean he rushed to the platform when the fifth young master was conducting his ceremony?"
Hearing the ancestor's words, the young man feels surprised and beside surprised there was no worry nor regret. Instead, deep inside his heart, he felt great joy and gloating.
'Snort! Finally, the troublemaker was sent away!'
The young man thought so in his heart, freely expressing his grievance. Even a corner of his mouth couldn't help rising, smirking.
The reason the young Qilin was called troublemaker, was because he had always caused headache and trouble whenever the young man was taking care of it.
As one of the disciples of the ancestor, one of most promising among the many grandsons, the young man was tasked to take care of the beast courtyard by the old ancestor. The courtyard is the place where spirit beasts were bred, kept and nurtured until fully reaching maturity.
Once spirit beasts had fully grown up and mature, they would establish beast contract, a contract of friendship, with the older generation family members.

Beast contract is not like those master-slave contract like those in the novels.
In those settings, once the beasts were enslaved to a beast contract, their life and death were since then under the control of their master.
In fact, in the whole universe, there's no such thing as a contract that can force someone or something to automatically die simply by the virtue of the contract term itself.
There's no so-called Dao Law or whatever that enforce such death. Because all lifeform's lives were own by the Creator. So, there is no way that the world's Dao Law and universe's natural law could allow such contract to exist and take effect.
Death only comes when one's lifespan is exhausted, or when their body's vitality essence was consumed, or when they were artificially killed. Thus, a mere contract agreed among the creatures or lifeform, couldn't interfere nor entrap the parties involved into these deadly situations.
However, it was undeniable that there were indeed ways to control slaves or beasts by its master. This was not done by the virtue of contract itself but thought threats and so on.
There were methods to coerce the beast and slaves to absolute obedience. These methods include curses, gu worm, poison, planting divine consciousness in other's mind and similar type of methods that the master could control their slaves' and beasts' lives.
And when the master so desired it, under specific conditions, they could easily end the slave or beast lives.
And these methods are clearly not related in any way to the beast contract. Because a contract is an agreement between two parties who willingly agreed to abide by the terms.
Though inevitable rumors and misunderstanding did spread among the ordinary people who viewed these coercion methods as another form of contract imposed on others.
This misunderstanding view had deeply caused confusion to the people.
Plus, the statement that the beast contract 'ensures' the beast loyalty was misinterpreted. It became the argumentative prove that beast contract forces the beast to become loyal or else their lives could not be guaranteed.
Even in some places where individual rights to live were protected, such misunderstanding had several times became rampant and caused general public unrest.
People with ulterior motives had used this misinterpretation of beast contract to agitate the common people. By doing this, it allowed them to glorify themselves and justify their action of attacking. While in truth they were just coveting some benefits obtained from the confrontation.
Youngsters who were unable to cultivate or unable to progress in cultivation fast were the most easily agitated. Their frustration with their situation, accumulate envy and jealousy towards others, had taken up a stand towards so-called unfairness of the world.
Under the guidance of those with interest, they use the public's lack of understanding, misinterpretation and falsely accuse and crusade against the people with power.
They accused of playing and toying the lives of their slaves and contracted beasts. Accusing them of forcing the slaves and beast to work and venture into dangerous places to obtain resources.
They also accused them of later embezzling the slave and beast resources that they worked hard to get.
These youngsters eventually lead the public to caused riots, forcing the authorities to meddle-in. It takes a lot of effort and resources to finally calmed down the situation.
And even if they took into custody the riots instigators, their leaders and calmed them public by explaining and educating them on how contracts work, it had only eased the tension.
Even if the public were educated on how world's law pertaining life and death works as well as public disclosure on resource distribution, the damage had been done. Lives had been lost.
These events not only happened once or twice in a particular single place. But it had evolved to become common social problems that could happen at any planet at any place where there's powerhouses in existence.
After all the common people's lifespan were not long. After a single cycle lifespan, those who had experienced the trouble and learned the truth would pass away. The new generation would not necessarily take seriously the lessons learned.
So, once every several generations or so, among the ignorant new generation, there would always be someone who takes the lead to jump the gun. And the beast contract and slave contract misunderstanding issue is the easiest and best issue that can arouse public's interest and their empathy to resonance with.

However, as mentioned the beast contract was not wicked as claimed. Rather it is a contract of understanding and acknowledgement between the beast and the contract owner.
Contracts can either be servitude contract, friendship contract, apprenticeship contract and even marriable companionship contract.
And the beast contract is a friendship type contract.
