Chapter 34 - Protect Me Part 2

Miss Redrive never came back. Someone else substituted for her and fortunately, she's way nicer. She all gave us amazing internships. My brother is still following me, together with Aaron, to university. They always stay at the hideout and I think they're getting well together now. They are now talking about things that I can't relate to but they would laugh at it. At least there's progress in their relationship.

"So, guys, again…café?" Jo asked.

"Wow. Miss Redrive is a no show anymore, huh?" Ven is checking his nails. He just had them done yesterday. "Ugh, playing the guitar is ruining my thumb and index finger."

"I don't think that she'll return." I said.

"No, according to the faculty office, she's just busy with something and might come back anytime."

I breathed sadly.

"Alright, café." Ven took his things from his seat. Jo and I followed when suddenly my stomach started to feel funny. My body feels weird since I woke up this morning, I don't know why.

"Jo, Ven, I'll just go to the toilet," I informed them while covering my mouth with my hand.

"Okay, we'll wait downstairs," Ven waved.

I immediately ran towards the cubicle and threw up. What did I eat this morning to feel this way? I took some tissue and wiped my mouth. I waited for a couple more minutes before following Jo and Ven just to make sure. I flushed the toilet when I thought that there's nothing coming anymore and headed downstairs where the two were waiting for me.

"Are you alright?" Jo pampered my back.

"Yeah, it must be something that I ate earlier," I burped a little.

"Ooh gassy," Ven said in disgust.

"Sorry and excuse me." I pouted.

"Be careful. You know what, let's not head to the café. The coffee won't make her feel any better," Jo pushed us towards the canteen instead. "Sit here. I'll buy the food. Ven, come with me." They headed to the counter and ordered.

[Aaron, I don't feel good.] I told him telepathically.

[What?]

[I just threw up.]

[Wait, I'll go there.]

[I'm at the canteen.]

Aaron arrived immediately looking really worried.

"What's happening with you, you're always sick," he sat beside me. "It must be something I ate a while ago," I placed my hand on my stomach.

"Scrambled eggs that you cooked yourself and bread?"

Right, I didn't eat anything dangerous earlier unless I wasn't able to cook the egg properly, "Salmonella?"

"That's impossible," Aaron scratched his nose with his thumb.

"Why are you always everywhere," Ven squinted his eyes looking at Aaron judging him really hard.

"They're dating. That's normal," Jo put the plate of veggies in front of me and a juice on the side.

"I mean, where does he stay? The toilet? The storage room? Where?" Ven sat on the chair in front of me. "He just suddenly appears from nowhere."

"I asked the lady there what's good for you. She suggested these," Jo explained. She sat on the chair beside Ven and started eating.

"What's that smell?" I sniffed.

"Hmm?" Jo and Ven stopped chewing.

I turned to face Aaron and sniffed him, "you smell like grass and soil." I crinkled my nose and pinched it.

"Wow, are you serious? I was staying at your 'hideout' to make sure you're fine and this is how you repay me? Even your brother would smell like one today," Aaron was irritated.

"Your brother is here?" Jo's eyes became big.

"She has a brother?" Ven asked. I remember Jo having a huge crush on my brother when we were younger.

"She does and he's really attractive," Jo flashed a smirk.

"Oh wait, right. YOur brother. The one who was in Vorbes just a year ago?"

I nodded.

"He's so out of my league. But I like him. I haven't even met him personally but I'm already broken," Ven said.

Jo smirked at Ven.

"Don't even try it," I warned them both.

We headed to class after; Aaron will stay with my brother in our hideout until dismissal and told me that he will inform my brother about this. They are probably contacting Stif now.

"Is that your brother over there with Aaron?" Jo stepped towards the window beside me. She noticed that I was staring outside.

"Yes," I rested my head on the desk. I still feel quite dizzy. Why am I always feeling this way? Good job, immune system, you got one thing to do and you suck at it.

"He's taller and more handsome than he already was years ago," Jo mumbled to herself. She sat back on her seat preparing for our next class.

"Where's Ven?" I asked, realizing that the seat behind us is empty.

"I think he went to band practice," Jo answered.

"He cut class?"

"Seems like it. Their gig is coming closer."

"When is his band performing and where is it again?" I pulled myself up to sit properly.

"On the third of next month. I'm not sure about the place yet. But he said that he will give us free tickets!" she said enthusiastically.

I'm now back in the car with my brother and Aaron to drive back to the HQ. My brother obviously doesn't look pleased with my health.

"You're sick again?" my brother asked, keeping his eyes on the road.

"Looks like it," I shifted on my seat.

"Goodness, Sapphire. You need gazillions of vitamins. Your immune system is giving up on you," my brother broke into laughter.

"What's funny?"

"Nothing," Aaron replied. Were they just talking telepathically?

"It's not about me, is it? I'm not really in a laughing state right now." I asked.

"It's Joanne," Hal replied, silencing himself.

"What's funny about Jo?"

No one replied but I could tell that they were stopping themselves from laughing even more.

"Is it because of the day she confessed to you?"

He shook his head.

"Jo confessed to you?" Aaron asked.

"When she was twelve. I just returned from school and whatever. But no, Sapphire. That's a different story."

"Heard her thoughts?" I asked.

"She's still the same as before." Hal laughed and so did Aaron.

I rolled my eyes and with all my strength that I have left, I kicked the driver's seat and the seat beside him where Aaron is sitting.

We reached the HQ after an hour just right on time for dinner.

"What do you think we have for tonight?" Aaron asked.

"Hopefully, something that will please my appetite," I touched my stomach.

"Are you sure you don't want to head towards the Medical Facility? You've been like that since this morning," Hal guided me by placing his hand on my waist.

"I heard that the facility is still busy curing and helping Nica's team."

"Okay," Hal helped me up the stairs going to the dining room.

"How does it feel to have two princes helping you, sister?" Julia kissed my cheek.

"Great, I guess? Am I supposed to feel something in particular?"

She shook her head, "Just curious but I really meant nothing about that," she continued walking with us towards the dining area.

"Nica!" Hal reached his hand towards Nica who was just passing by.

"Oh, Hey Hal, Aaron, Sapphire, and Julia."

"Wow, you're glum," Julia walked beside Nica.

"It's nothing. Commander is just stressing me out about this regrouping thing. I'm yet to find members and looking at the portfolios," she pinched the bridge of her nose.

"Do you need help?" Hal asked.

Nica shook her head. "I'm fine."

"At least you're still on time when it comes to dinner," Julia teased. Aaron smiled at Julia. "Could you share that energy with these two? These two are always lacking in that area," Aaron placed his hands on me and Nica.

"I can if you want to, with Timothy's help though. He's good at playing with emotions," Julia explained.

"I see. You two really are a team now, huh," I said.

Julia just smiled. Her smile is so pretty. Her eyes disappear whenever she smiles. Then her dimples show up.

We finally reached the Dining Hall and went to our places to sit on our chairs and waited for dinner to be served.
