I heard Aaron gasping for air from inside of the house. What should I do? I looked around and saw that Henry's car is left unguarded. I ran towards it and searched for something that I could use against Henry. I found a gun in one of the drawers and took it out.
I don't know how to use it but I have to help Aaron. I skipped my way towards the front of the house. I searched for Henry and Aaron. Aaron is lying on the ground while Henry is on top of him while punching him repeatedly. I pointed the gun at Henry's back and shot fire. Thrice. Because I was unsure if I'm hitting him.
The vibration from it weakened my arm and the loud shot hurt my ears. Henry fell on the ground bleeding endlessly. I quickly run towards Aaron whose arm is bleeding. With Aaron's remaining strength using telekinesis, he lifted Henry and the car away from here and shut the door and windows around the house.
"Are you alright?" I asked. I examined his wounds.
He tried sitting properly and nodded, "It's just a knife wound. Nothing serious." He replied. He grabbed his jaw making sure that it was still in place.
"You have blood all over your face. Wait, I'm going to get some warm water."
My hands are shaking as I tried to get some water to help Aaron clean his wounds. I even dropped the bowl and had to refill it. I forgot how dangerous the Artisan world was. But I'd rather have this than be a puppet for my parents.
The furniture pieces were immediately fixed when I got back from getting some boiled water to use on his wound. He was able to stand up and go up to his room where I followed him.
"I can do it myself." He tried to get the bowl of warm water from my hands.
"I insist," I said, pulling the bowl of water towards me.
He didn't fight with me again and just remained seated on his bed. I placed the bowl of water on the free space of his side table.
Dumping a clean towel I used it to clean his wound. "It doesn't hurt, right?"
"I've had worse."
I continued cleaning it and used band-aids to cover his wounds. "That's good for now," I said. I'm not a healer like Stif, I can't help that much.
Our eyes met for a second. He pulled his gaze from me and scooted a little away from me.
"You can stop acting like a kid now."
He averted his eyes somewhere.
"Stop avoiding me. I hate it when you do that. It's also not a good hobby."
He looked at me again, "Am I even allowed to look at the woman who's clearly cannot be mine anymore?"
"I really cannot understand that." Acting like a kid all of a sudden? This is not the Aaron I used to know.
"We need to move out immediately. Henry knows where we are." He changed the subject. But I am not letting him.
"I missed you, you know that. I'm sorry about earlier. I shouted and was really frustrated. It's true though. Everything. I miss Jo. I miss Ven. I miss the HQ…I miss you and I don't even understand why." I tried to keep my voice as calm as I could. It's only about time before I start crying again.
He clenched his jaw.
"Seriously, I tried avoiding any thoughts of you but you just keep coming back."
He swallowed.
"Aaron, please. Say something."
The next thing I know his lips were on mine. He guided my back to lean on the bed, continuing his soft lips on touching mine. As if something snapped him back to reality, he immediately pulled away.
He looks confused, "You're getting married."
"I am." I guess I looked at the sapphire ring. It doesn't look as pretty anymore as it did earlier.
"I shouldn't have kissed you."
"Don't say it." No, don't take it back.
"Why? Why do you have to do that right after you told me?"
"Told you what?"
"At the airport…"
"Those words? Back at the airport, I was already filled with emotions. I have to let them out. Plus, I was not expecting to see you again."
"Then leave, just like that?"
"It's not such a big deal. It's done. It's been…what? Three, four months?"
"I was shouting for your name but you won't turn back. You shut off your telepathy. I can't call your phone. I have no way of contacting you. I was in a mess. You just left me like that."
"I'm not following anymore."
"It's because you're not familiar with the Artisan connection between sacred pairs."
"Sacred pairs?"
He just shook his head.
"Make me understand then." I shifted all of my attention to him.
"It's a sacred connection. Once an Artisan meets their other half, they're not supposed to leave each other ever again. Make a whole new piece. Couples in the Artisan world are supposed to complement each other's strengths. Complete what the other one lacks."
"Like a soulmate?"
He nodded. "Artisans that are meant to be for each other are born around the same time the other one is born. A perfect match. When I connected to you through telepathy you said that you felt strange, I thought it was because you weren't used to it. I didn't know you felt strange in a different way. I had my guards up. If only I'd realized what you meant I would've let you do telepathy with me because that's how it's supposed to be. It's a tie of connection between sacred pairs. But of course, I messed up ours." He sighed, slamming a palm on his head. "I can't believe that I suck at this. I'm quite particular with the things I do but I can't believe that I suck at this very important thing."
"Then let me connect to you," I said.
He looked at me directly into my eyes.
