Chereads / Where the Moon Glows / Chapter 11 - The Memory of the Past

Chapter 11 - The Memory of the Past

It was a deep night in the forest, the bright moon was completely out. Brielle, who was about 2 years old, accompanied me in hunting some animals. I left Brielle near the big chunk of log that was laying in the ground. In the light of the moonlight, I can ensure her safety.

"Brielle, don't go anywhere. Papa will hunt for some food," I said.

" Okway."

The night was very deep. A perfect time for hunting.

Bam! Bang! Thump.

These should be enough for a week. I should pick up Brielle. As soon as I was near the log, where I left Brielle, I heard a crying sound. For sure it was Brielle. I hurriedly ran and saw a bear that was about to attack my baby.

" Waah, Papa...scared waah!"

With my sharp teeth, I bite the neck of the bear. The bear raised its claws towards me- aiming to strike. Arghh, bastard! It hit me. I should have finished it quickly; Brielle was already scared. Crushing its neck hard, the bear loses its balance. Blood was everywhere. I can sense that it's beginning to lose its strength. Eventually, it passed away. Despite the injury in my leg, I went to check Brielle.

" Are you okay?"

" Yes, but Papa is huwrt," Brielle replied, worrying.

" I'm okay. It will heal in a few days."

"Because of me, Papa is injwured waah."

" Stop crying. It's not your fault." Aagh, I lost so much blood. My head hurts as well as my leg. First, I need to bring Brielle to the cave." Brielle, get up. We will go home."

" No, you're hwurt."

I lay down for a while because it felt like everything was spinning. Brielle's voice was all I could hear as I closed my eyes and lost consciousness. Upon regaining my senses, the sun was about to rise. How many hours had passed? Brielle! Where's Brielle?

"Papa! You're awake."

Wait! Why can't I feel any pain? I examined my legs and was startled when I saw nothing! The wound was healed. What happened? "Brielle?" I asked with a shocked expression.

" When I pwray rweally hard, the wound dissappwear like mwagic!"

Oh, Brielle was gifted with healing magic. As expected of my child.

"Papa, let's go ho—" All of the sudden, Brielle vanished in front of me. Brielle? Brielle!

"Brielle!!" My eyes snapped open. The cold sweat was flowing down my face down to my chest.

Thump. Thump. Thump.

I could hear my heart pounding really hard. Hah! It was a dream. Why I remembered the event from a year ago. The time when Brielle awakened her healing ability. Tsk, it's because of that damned brat. He should not let Brielle listen to his problem.

"Brielle, wake up. I'll cook breakfast."

"Brielle?" I looked around but there was no trace of Brielle. Shit, she must have gone to that human.

Meanwhile, Brielle, who ran away from home, wearing a black cloak while walking barefoot, had reached the capital. From what she remembered; Max had once told her that his residence was near the Jewelry Shop in the town's center. Using this piece of information, she bravely took her first step in the capital. Unlike the festival, this time she was alone. Regardless, she was eager. No fear. Without hesitation. All she had on her small head was to save Max's mother.

"Max, wait for me. I'm coming to help!"
