When something happened to earth, the animals everywhere started to mutate into powerful beasts. Modern weapons where ineffective, a lesson humanity learned the hard way. Scot was drafted into the military to aid in trying to hold back these new monsters. He had just finished his degree in chemistry, and they needed knowledgeable individuals to aid in testing new weapons. On one of these missions Scot lost his life as the weapon and monster reacted in a major way, blowing up a large chunk of land.
Floating in the void he was recruited to be a hero; in return his sister would have a safe and happy new life. After getting it in a contract he agreed, he then fought for this light across countless worlds as a hero. Every time he died, he asked to see his sister and was refused. After countless times trying to be nice, he used the contract to force a visit. When he saw that her soul had been used as a battery by one of the gods of light and was barely alive. He called out in anger stating the contract had been breached by them and they would have to answer for what they did.
Everything stopped, even the gods were forced to stop then kneel as an ancient and powerful force came over them. A voice whispered into his mind. "I have heard your cry mortal and I see the contract and how it was breached. I will aid you, however in order to save your sister I will need a source of power that resonates with her soul. I would give her a tiny drop of my power however she would be torn apart by it due to how weak she is."
He thought for a minute, "will my power work for this? If it does use it to save my sister, I do not care what happens to me."
The voice chuckles, "very well I will do so. In return I lay claim to these so-called gods of light, I will send you to my granddaughter so she can aid in your rebirth. You both deserve new lives after all you went through."
After that everything Scot could see vanished and then he saw a living room. His sister's soul seems to be resting on the couch, looking much better. He then realized what is missing from him, most of the divine power he got pumped full of is gone. Something new is where it used to be, there is less of it however it feels more potent.
It is then he looks around the room he is in and sees a massive window taking up most of the far wall. He walks over to it and looks out, he sees an amazing view, unending forest sprawls out in front of him. Mountains rise up on the edge forming a circle a massive lake in the middle. It seems to be fall as all the trees are varying shades of yellow, orange, and red. The lake reflects all those colors.
He hears a scream from behind himself, thinking it is his sister he spins around to see a woman in a towel looking scared. He quickly speaks up. "I am sorry a powerful and ancient power sent me hear saying she was sending us to her granddaughter. I have a feeling that is you and she did not warn you." With a tremendous amount of will power he maintained eye contact and did not look down.
The woman stopped acting scared when I said what I did. "Ah, well I have been ignoring her calls and she did just try to reach me, so it is kinda my fault. Give me a minute to get dressed then we can talk." She left the room, heading towards what he assumed is her room.
After a few minutes she came back, dressed in a simple shirt and jeans. She stood around 67in(170cm) with jade like skin. Her straight raven black hair reached her waist, emerald eyes looked out of bangs at him. Her figure is attractive if a bit on the slender side, a light cough drew his attention back.
"Sorry I did not get a chance to look at you before and your beauty caught me off guard."
She blushed hearing that, "a-anyway, I listened to the message my grandma left me. It seems you are telling the truth; my name is Devi. Welcome to my home, from what she said it seems you were extorted by some light gods even when you had a contract in play. Normally you would get no say in your next life, due to what happened though I am allowed to let you have some input. If you want to expand your choices, there are options to do that."
Scot nods as he hears that, "okay then. I do have a couple of questions. What is in place to protect me if I go with one of the options and why was I sent here in the first place?"
"Both good questions and they are interconnected. Let me start with the second one, there are beings in the heavens assigned to aid and guide souls. I was supposed to meet you when you died the first time, however your and your sister's souls where stolen before I could make contact. She knew you two where the souls I missed so she sent you to me so I can get you fully registered and taken care of. I am your representative in the heavens, if you decide to sign a contract, I will be there to make sure everything is fair. The gods of justice and contracts teamed up to form this department to aid in their power collection. With their backing the other gods fell in line for the most part."
Scot smiles hearing that, "would you mind going over the different options? Just to see if one of them catches my eye."
"The two biggest are accepting the Hero and demon lord titles, other options are becoming the champion of a divine being, becoming a system for a set number of lives, starting a divine tube live stream and becoming a dungeon core. Would you like to hear more about any of them?
He thought about it, "If I go with the stream will it affect my sister in anyway?"
"It will not, she is talking to my in her dreamscape right now and you both asked the same question. If you both go with this option whenever you are grouped up, you can gain joint quests. Let me though go into what it is and my suggested settings for this then I can answer any questions.
Basically, it will let divine and higher beings watch you without having to use their own power. The settings I mentioned have to do with their ability to influence you through the stream. I can go through all the options, however before that, I will go over my suggested settings that will net you the best outcome with minimum interference from others."
She pauses to take a breath. "With these settings any bets made will net you some system points that will be usable in store, others can donate them and subscribe as well. Others will be able to post optional quests that you can choose to take on for the rewards. Anyone who wants to watch any X-rated content will have to pay for it. There are safeguards put in place to prevent others from using the stream to force you to do anything."
"This sounds good, I will go with your suggested settings."
Devi nodded, "both of you are in agreement on that. Now on to the fun stuff, let's start with what type of world you want to be born into. What era would you like it to be in?"
He thought about it, "I would like to try a cultivation world"
Devi thought for a minute, "Alright, I have both of your answers. Next part, how old do you want it to be? The older it is the more ruins there will be and higher quality resources. The competition for those resources will be greater as well. The younger a world the more will be unknown about it and the more abundant some resources will be."
"I am leaning towards a world that is older, just not the oldest one possible. Think halfway between old and the middle marker for the range."
"Got it, do you want a mix of races or a world mainly one race? If you want a mainly one race planet, what race do you want to be dominant?"
"A mix sounds good, one where humans are not so powerful, they try and enslave all the other races please."
She smiles hearing the last part of his request, "no problem with that. Last planet question, what biome do you want to start out in?"
"A jungle/rainforest."
"That was fast, moving along. Next part is my favorite part, race selection. With this there will be a lot of options, before we get into it though I am going to go over some options you have for this.
Starting off you can just choose a common race and go with that. You can also go with a random option; you can then start as any intelligent race possible. With this one you can say set it to where it will only go with a race that has a humanoid form. This will stop you from getting some of the stronger races. Lastly you can select the evolution path, with this one you will start out weaker than most. You can grow to be one of the stronger existences in the world though if you do it right."
"While risky I am leaning more towards the evolution path, it sounds like the most customizable option in the long run. Though if sis in uncomfortable with it we can do the random humanoid option."
"She is down with the evolution option; Let's get this happening. I have the perfect world in mind, you will have a system to aid you in this. A present from my grandmother, don't worry there are no strings attached."
Everything went black then as he was sent to this new world.
