The scene takes place inside the director's office. Sitting comfortably on the couch, three men were enjoying their coffees while gazing at a holographic 3D-Screen, projected from a small AI-Pod ball floating in the air. It showed detailed profiling of a lanky youth, along with his vivid physique. Judging from the expensive suites they were donning, it reflected their ranking in this new world.
"Oh, come on, Director Kemino! You're wasting our time. The asset is nothing but a fucking 'Defect'!" A Caucasian man with blonde hair, Captain Jean Carlos, spoke in a thick British R.P. accent. Overall, he had a beefy physique, along with an intimidating aura radiating from his body.
"This! I'm on the same page as Captain Jean Carlos. But don't be rushed. Not gonna lie, he's the Albert Einstein of this generation. Check this out." Director Kemino replied. Then he instructed the AI, "Silla, show me all the academic achievements of... Bobby Bradford."
Immediately, large numbers of data started popping up on the screen one at a time. In the beginning, the files were regarding his academic records, showing the brilliance of countless modern, highly advanced majors. They all observed without even blinking their eyes once.
Clicking his tongue, Captain Jean Carlos spoke, changing his tone, "Rather than being a Defect, hmm, he is a good lad." Then he asked, turning to the petite-looking, middle-aged man, "What do you think, boss?"
"Umm! Good." The petite middle-aged man replied as he continued sipping his coffee. "Excels in all the fields of Space Science and Technology. And he is only 17... You're Right, Mr. Director. This one is a goddamn genius! Alright, we will take him in."
"Gentlemen, Hehehe! I have more surprises for you." said Director Kemino with a chuckle and instructed the AI again, "Silla, show me all the hidden files of Bobby Bradford."
The holographic 3D screen started flickering and ten files appeared on it. All of them were marked as top secrets and the details of the contents were mostly redacted.
The other two looked at the screen seriously and they nodded at each other, confirming their approval of the asset.
"Woah-ho!" Captain Jean Carlos exclaimed and said, "Hey, I know that one. Isn't that the core strategy plan of my recent mission in the Delta belt region? Sus! Director Kemino, I think you are the one who made that military strategy. By the way, who is this lad?"
"Gentlemen, I am showing these files because you two have already reached enough security clearance level for these files," Kemino said. "Yep, your recent military plans were all plotted by him. It would be best if you were more thankful to him. And one more thing, Bobby knew nothing about his achievements. I am keeping this away from him for now."
"Then why are you taking his military achievement points?" Captain Carlos asked. Taking someone else's military points was a serious crime.
"Cap, that is rude!" The petite middle-aged man spoke, relieving the tension in the air.
"Hehe, I don't mind at all. Mind if I explain... Silla, show me Article no. F78847 of the military code of conduct."
On the screen, the details of it came out. It was written: If a minor gained some military achievement points, then they would be passed to his or her guardian. If even the guardian were also a civilian then, the points would go to his or her mentor. The mentor must pass the military points to him or her when he or she joins the military.
"Don't worry. Hee hee hee, I will pass his points to him soon." Director Kemino said, chuckling.
"As if... he is a Defect. Listing him in the military, the chance is very thin." Captain Jean retorted. "It seems to be a scam to me."
"Don't go there, yet." Kemino continued, covering with a smile. "And here we are, gentlemen. That's the very reason I am inviting you today." He finally disclosed his intention.
"I understand. So what you want is to enlist him in the military? And you need our support, right?" The petite middle-aged man asked, understanding the situation.
"Exactly, I need your support to convince the higher-ups to give Bobby a chance. He may be a Defect, but his intelligence and strategic abilities are unmatched. He could be a valuable asset to the military," Kemino explained.
The three men discussed further details and strategies on how to enlist Bobby into the military. With the help of their influence and connections, they were determined to give Bobby the opportunity to prove himself as a military strategist, or maybe more.
Recruiting Bobby as a military strategist would be an arduous task, but with their combined efforts, they were determined to make it happen.
As the discussion continued, Captain Jean Carlos couldn't help but feel a sense of skepticism. He had heard of many cases where Defects were promised opportunities, only to be let down in the end. However, the petite-looking man was someone who could find a loophole in the system.
"Alright, let's do this. I'll make some calls and see what I can do to push this forward," the petite-looking man said. "But we need to be careful and make sure that everything is done by the book. We don't want any backlash from the higher-ups."
"Agreed," Director Kemino replied. "We'll have to tread carefully, but I'm confident that we can make this happen. Bobby Bradford is a special case, and I believe he has what it takes to be a valuable asset to the military."
Captain Jean nodded in agreement. "I'll make some calls too. We'll need all the support we can get."
"Great, let's get to work then," Director Kemino said. "I'll also start working on a proposal for Bobby's enlistment. We'll need to present a strong case for him to be given a chance."
As the three men discussed further details and strategies, recruiting Bobby as a military strategist would be a laborious task, but with their combined efforts, they were determined to make it happen.
The scene continued with the three men discussing their next steps and planning on how to enlist Bobby into the military. Their determination and drive to give Bobby the opportunity to prove himself as a military strategist was clear, and they were confident that they could make it happen.
A few minutes later, a seventeen-year-old boy quickly rushed inside and stood before the director's office door. He clicked on the doorbell button.
"Mr. Director, Student Bobby Bradford is here. He is requesting permission to enter the room," the AI spoke in a female voice.
"Permission granted," Kemino responded.
Ding! (Electrical beeping sound for unlocking the door.)
"Come in," Kemino spoke from inside the room.
Bobby walked inside and stood before Kemino. Politely, he asked, "Mr. Director, what can I do for you?" There was a hint of anxiety in his tone.
"Have a seat here," Kemino said, waving his hand and gesturing for Bobby to sit on the round couch in front of the three.
"Bradford, let me introduce them first. This is the founder of the Johnson Military Corp, Mr. Gregaon," Kemino spoke, introducing the petite, middle-aged man.
Bobby looked at him with a smile. 'Oh, this skinny bastard is the infamous Mr. Gregǎon. No doubt. He is a mixed breed of human and Ogǎrian races. So, everyone's rumors on social media are true after all,' Bobby thought, noticing his blue teeth and silver nails.
Both human and Ogǎrian races were very similar, even at the level of DNA similarity. The only difference was that humans had only white teeth and nails, whereas Ogarians had different colored teeth and nails.
"Nice to meet you, Mr. Gregǎon," Bobby greeted him.
The petite man nodded with a gentle smile.
"And this man, you must have seen him before, Captain Jean Carlos," Kemino pointed out.
"Sir, it's an honor to meet you today. I am a big fan of yours," Bobby spoke to Captain Jean with a smile. 'Bastard, you're portraying yourself as the hero in this clusterfuck world,' Bobby sneered in his head.
Captain Jean Carlos greeted Bobby back with a warm smile.
"Alright, Bobby, it's time to discuss important matters now," Kemino said. "Son, you're finally joining the military. They are here to take you in. Finally, your dream of joining will come true."
"Are you kidding? How is that even possible? I am just a Defect," Bobby asked with confusion, knowing it was impossible for a Defect like himself to join the military. According to the Federal Constitution, all Defects are forbidden to join any civil services, especially the military!
"That's where Mr. Gregaon comes in," Kemino explained. "He has been working on a special program for Defects like yourself to join the military. You'll be part of a special unit, and you'll receive special training. It's a rare opportunity, and we believe you're the perfect candidate for it."
Bobby was in shock. He never thought this would be possible for someone like him. This shocked him.
Bobby never thought this would be possible for someone like him. He had always been told that Defects could not join any civil services, especially the military. He couldn't believe his dream of joining the military was finally coming true.
"Thank you, Mr. Director. I won't let you down," Bobby said with determination in his voice.
"We know you won't. That's why we chose you," Kemino said with a smile.
Bobby sat there, still in shock, as the conversation continued and details of the program were discussed. He couldn't wait to start his training and finally become a part of the military, something he never thought would happen.
