Chereads / The Priestess From The Other World / Chapter 15 - Chapter 14

Chapter 15 - Chapter 14

A P H I A

"What holy magic exactly can do?" I asked Erskine while making another batch of potion for the knights. Prince Kalmin and Erskine are observing how I make potions that are better than the other mages.

It's been a month since Prince Kalmin supervised my training, and we focused on strengthening my elemental magic. He became my instructor and master in combat training. Prince Kalmin made sure that I could use my elemental magic in the fastest way possible and to its full extent.

He did not show any mercy and did not let me stop until I dropped because of exhaustion. Once he was satisfied with my performance, we have finally moved with holy magic. I need to master the holy magic one month before joining the Orders for expeditions.

We are currently at Arcovia's School of Magic. The king forbids us from training at the castle yard until they finish restoring the place. Prince Kalmin did not hold back from using his magic, and I ended up healing myself because of the injuries he inflicted on me.

I took part in the mess we made since I used my magic to its full extent, and I thought of killing him, but I failed miserably. "You are the priestess, am I correct? You should know what holy magic can do." Prince Kalmin answered before drinking his orange juice.

"I am not talking to you, so shut up. I am talking to Erskine." I said before rolling my eyes at him.

"You two never get tired of the bickering," Erskine commented before letting out a deep sigh. I think he's tired of us. He became our referee every time Prince Kalmin and I went all out using our magic that almost destroyed the whole castle yard.

"The holy magic is one of the most powerful rarest magic in our world, Lady Aphia." I gulped as realization hit me. "According to our history, a priestess has ten holy magic prowesses such as archangel, heal, circle of healing, consecration, cure disease, dispel magic, divine protection, divine shield, resurrection, and holy magic infusion." Erskine enumerated the abilities, and I looked at him in shock.

"All of those?!" I exclaimed.

He nods. "As of now, all you can do is heal." He said before expressing a disappointed facial expression.

"What? I've tried resurrection too!" I complained.

"Yes, and it's on plants, Lady Aphia." He stated.

"Should I look for a dead person and revive him?" I asked with a poker face.

He sighs. "Why don't we move on to the next holy magic prowess?" He asked before he grabbed the book on the table and discussed all the holy magic prowess that I should possess.

"Archangel provides wings for the priestess."

"What? Really?! I can have wings?!" I asked excitedly.

"You can fly without wings, Aphia. You have wind elemental magic." Prince Kalmin commented.

"But wings look cool!" I exclaimed, and he shook his head in disbelief.

"Heal can only heal the physical wound, so you have to use the Cure Disease in other non-physical illnesses." I nod. So, they are different, huh.

"Circle of Healing or Area Heal can heal all living things within the large radius around the priestess. You may use this magic if you have to heal a mass or a large number of living things around you, but it would take a large amount of your magic." It's good to know I have that prowess; it will save time and effort to heal a large number of people.

"Consecration infuses the ground with holy power, damaging all hostile creatures on it. It means you can attack a monster or evil by using the ground as your tool. You just have to infuse your magic on the ground." He explained, and I nodded.

"Dispel Magic eliminates any magic especially dark magic. You can remove the magic cast on someone. Divine Protection is a protection spell against magical damage up to 10-50%. You can use it to yourself or to someone you want to protect from a magical attack."

"Divine Shield is protection magic, but it's different from Divine Protection. Divine Shield prevents all damage, either magic or physical damage up to 100%."

"Oh! So, it's stronger than Divine Protection." I commented.

"That's right. I suggest you better focus on mastering the Divine Shield than the Divine Protection." Erskine said, and I agreed.

"Holy Magic Infusion lets you transfer holy magic power to any non-living things."

"Why would I need to transfer my magic to non-living things?" I asked.

"It's for long-range combat against your enemy. We will discuss more details about it soon, and lastly, the resurrection. It simply restores life." He stated before closing the book on his lap.

"Simply?! It's not simple for me, Erskine. It's my scariest holy magic prowess." I stated.

"Aren't you grateful to restore someone's life?" Prince Kalmin asked.

"I am, but I also believe that a person dies because it is God's plan. How can I meddle in His plan? I feel like disrupting someone's destiny or will." I explained, and they both looked at each other.

"Our God would not bless you with that kind of ability if He doesn't want you to use it. We don't know what God's plan is for each one of us. Everyone wants to live, Lady Aphia. Use your holy magic to grant their wishes." Erskine enlightened me.

I sigh. "You have a point, Erskine. However, I am still worried. I hope I can do it." I said.

"Don't worry, Lady Aphia. I will do my best to guide and teach all the things I know about holy magic." He assured me, and I nodded while smiling.

I finished a thousand healing potions the whole day, and Erskine told me they would send those healing potions to the Orders who just got back from the expedition. I heard they have a lot of injured men.

I am now resting at Chateau de Arcovia while waiting for the sun to set. It's my favorite place in the castle since I can relax and think while I am here.

I am lying on the grass under the shades of the trees around me. I know it's not ladylike, but it's what makes me comfortable. "What are you doing?" Prince Kalmin's face appeared right above me.

"I am thinking of ways how to defeat you." I lied. He smirks before sitting on the grass beside me.

"You cannot defeat me. I've spent my youth in combat training, and you just got started in this kind of training." He stated.

"Your youth must be boring," I said while chuckling.

"I've learned to accept that my life is as boring as you." He said, and that made me look at him in annoyance.

"You know what, I really hate you." I rolled my eyes at him before staring back at the branches of trees above me.

"I hate you too." He answered. We've been saying these phrases to each other if we are really annoyed by each other. "Don't tell me you're worried about those people who might want to ask for your help to save them."

"Do you possess the Clairvoyance, and you are just hiding it from me?" How could he read my mind now?

"You are just easy to read, Aphia." Wow. Am I that transparent?

"Human life is in my hand. That thought is enough to scare the hell out of me." I stated. "I might kill myself if I fail to save even one person in this world. My conscience will kill me inside."

It's the first time I let someone hear how I really feel about my power, and the worse thing is Prince Kalmin happened to be that person, of all people. I sigh.

"You are not perfect, Aphia. All powers have their ugly and weak side. All you have to do is do your best and believe in yourself because I believe in you. Erskine and I believe that you are worth it of the priestess's power." I was looking at him while he was talking. It's the first time I heard him say motivational words.

I couldn't believe it. Did Prince Kalmin hit his head somewhere?

"Will you stop staring at me like that? You are scaring me." He commented, and I laughed at his remarks. "You are crazy." He added while shaking his head.

I was laughing at him when we heard someone running towards us. "Lady Aphia! Prince Kalmin!" I got up to see Howard, looking distressed, worried, and in a hurry.

"What happened?!" Prince Kalmin asked.

"C-Clovis…" He answered while panting. I got nervous all of a sudden after hearing the commander's name. "Clovis is badly hurt. He is in a critical condition."
