A ray of Light shine brightly into my eyes, but not sun light, moon light, illuminating from a gaping hole in a tore down wooden celling. I cover my face from that light, shielding my eyes in a daze. I then fall that very same hand on a rubble of wood, leveling my head on something warm and plushie.
Over my head, staring puzzle back at me, the demon that looks like the spitting image of Akki tilts her head, holding dearly to the back of mines. The girl's horns reflect the moon light, and her eyes are spookily dim. More or less, she is more terrifying than the actual Akki...
I must've doze off the moment that being teleported me here...- Is what I considered, regaining memories of what the one called Bakura and third said to God, continuing to gaze out to Akki's face in the middle of the moons view.
if it wasn't for all the tension in the ballroom and every sudden event thrown at me, I would have gotten back up by now... But of course, I am still human, I need rest. I should wait until tomorrow to figure out all this new world junk, God tried to speak to us about. Though-
I lean my head further into the girl's lap, eyeing Akki look alike then spoke to her before shutting my eyes. "Do you, happen to know anything about this game?"
But the demon only expression giving to me remain a baffle gaze and non-vocal. She just allowed me to rest on her lap, completely in her own world.
This might be crazy to think, but what if she's death? Then I would be rambling on to myself again as I did with that bird...
I eventually decided to turn around on their lap, facing what seem to be a slick white mask having eye holes carve out on it, no mouth, lying before my eyes on wood. It was the item from earlier today. Or whatever day this is...
That little white bird too, I wonder if they been transported here as well.
-Speaking of the devil, coming from out of the shadows of the wood flooring was the little white bird dooming their red pearl eyes at me. It gazes at me, looking upset about something. Now that I think of it, the last time I seen the bird was before the commotion before God's speech, running into that guy. This bird is definitely a bad omen...
That very same bird's wings stretch out, hovering above the ground, landing up closer to my face, glancing me one last look before taking off again.
I'm way too exhausted to follow it at the moment, I don't even want to acknowledge the creature's taunting, but Akki standing up, floor creaking under her feet as she did, cause me to hit my head on the wooden flooring. My best guess is that she decided to follow the flying bad luck...
I was forced to get out of what was my current comfort, placing my hands on the poorly built wooden floor, taking in what I rest on. Piles of wood surrounded me, pieces that might've fell from the ceiling.
I eye a doorway. One where beam of lights sparkles from small cuts in the wall, having red dirt on the outside of it. However, that doorway didn't matter. A massive hole, wall torn apart from the building was on the left side of me, wooden logs stack on top each other, breaking through what use to be the front balcony.
Seeing the balcony, it was obvious to me now that where the wall was demolished is the true entrance and the other door was used as the side door...
Taking one foot, then another to stand on the broken structure of wood, I glance up at the moon in the sky, taking in the eternal silence and emptiness. I could easily see that day in the moon light... -
A bit of cold air grazes my wrist. I realize, in the long run, I, even now, wore the suite giving to me by God. Then after small recall, I pick up the mask, presenting a new problem once I dust it off, letting my eyes roam free inside the building. Akki and that demonic bird wasn't in sight...
I jot my head to the right, no one was there. The left, the gaping hole remain in the building. And the roof... The bird could fly, but it wouldn't lead me to somewhere I can't reach. That's at least what I would like to believe. They have to be outside- I follow that insight of mines, wondering out the demolish front side, instead of the door I face.
Journeying outside the demolish home, I gain a proper view of the building. It seems to be a lodge you would find in the midst of wilderness... Meaning this area use to be a forest... Though, it was hard to defend that theory, seeing the outside was nothing but miles and miles of dirt, spotting a few ponds or small bushes of grass far out in the distant. There was nothing else left...
I check the right side of me once, immediately sighting the girl I continue to pretend was Akki. On the spot, I ran to her without a second thought. Once I got closer, I find the girl trying their best to capture the bird that flew in circles, inches above their head in a playful manner.
I couldn't help but crack a chuckle to myself. I then held out my finger, slowly, having the bird land on it like I use to see in animal trainer videos on MyTube. I have to admit I was shocked that it actually took the call. -
Akki grabs for it, causing the mysterious creature to cut back up into the air again, grabbing onto my index finger instead. At that moment, my heart skips a bit, seeing her... Akki, in this demon.
They... Under the right lighting, she really looks like her. - I broke down to my knees, clouds of dust poof off the dry land, bringing Akki to theirs as I held my head down, reminded of the past...
Akki would look at me... Holding a kind, warm hearted smile... Bringing light to those gloomy days I felt after the adoption, making it clear that I was needed...
We had our arguments, but she always found a way to turn it into a joke at the end of it. Hell, I even let her win most of them...
She was so outgoing, so strong will, yet.... I broke her... I failed to be there when she needed me the most-
All the hatred I felt when seeing this girl's face, finding that picture in the bird's mouth from earlier today, it returns, bursting out of me in tears. I desperately grab onto the girl's hand in front of me, clinging onto the belief that she was really Akki...
"When I saw you earlier..." My voice crack and my tongue stumble over what to really say, trembling in worry, gripping onto the outside of her wrist. "I wanted to- I wanted to say... I'm- I... I'm so sorry! If I was there,"
- By her side.
"I could have-"
I could have saved you.
"It would've been me-"
Instead of you...
"It should've been me..." -
I felt a hand go over my head. My lips seize quivering. That gesture came directly from Akki's look alike, not able to say a word, but did her best to do so.
Even if she wasn't the real deal, I still felt as if Akki forgave me for all my sins and misfortune, I brought on to her. She caused the storm that dwelled deep in my soul to calm, just as the real Akki would have done... -
In the moment of what felt like me becoming closer to redemption, the girl's hand goes from over my head to my backside, leaping forward, out behind me. A slick sounds a blade going through her back side, gaining a slow glance of her pink hair rustling chaotically as it fell, embracing the one that attack her, protecting me from a devastating blow.
I catch myself before falling, planking my hands, digging my fingers into dirt, reflexes kicking in, hearing Akki's body hit the ground simultaneously. Blood slaps the ground, aside the sound the blade pointing out...
My back facing the enemy, footsteps approach me, along by a voice, very serene and very shallow. Thier voice align to an all too familiar person that I met earlier at the eternal ballroom, the one known as third...
Stepping pass the odd position he had me in, blocking my line of sight was who I predicted, having the same stain on his baby blue dress suite, maintaining the shallow expression he held at the Eternal Ballroom, squatting down to my eye level.
The air froze still at his presence. ".... Are you ten...?" He questions me without any hostility in tone.
Ten? - In deepen, quick thought, my eyes gape at this shallow guy's. Did he mean my age or another person's title? I dart my head to the right, seeing that Akki's leg scraps the dirt to get a proper footing, struggling to lift herself back up. Blood spills out the open wound in her back from her stomach in a rapid pace, twitching, remaining bound to the ground.
The guy in front of me then tilts his head, viewing me in a new light, "...Wait." He speaks out, taking my chin in his fingertips, gaining a better view on who I was. "You're that kid from earlier, aren't you?" He calls me a kid, even though we look the same exact age. "This is ironic... To think the trail led me to you instead..." He glances over to Akki, then back to me, sighing, only to stand back up and began to walk away. "Neither of you is Ten... How unfortunate... "
He turns his back on me. That monster continues to walk forward, remaining in my line of sight, leaving Akki to die, explaining to me nothing of why he caused this tragedy to happen. Mistakenly murdering the wrong person in cold blood... Akki... This son of a bitch... -
"Get back here!!"
I shout to the top of my lungs, clenching a crumble up ball of dirt in my hand, lifting myself up, fighting the overwhelming fear I felt from this one guy.
"Turn your ass back around!! I'm not done with you!!"-
The guy stops in place, vanish in thin air, then having a voice appear close behind my ear, warm breath slaps the nape of my neck, "Not done with me?" They speak. "Are you trying to pick a fight in this state?"
The sound of blood slushing to the floor behind me caught my ear, watching a water like blade that is plainly red form underneath my neck. "May God have mercy on your soul... "
The blade made from blood seeping from the palm of his hand, cut the skin of my neck-
Saving me from peril, red ice shards stop the guy from advancing any further, slicing the left part of his face, closer to his eye, scraping my skin as well. He then pushes his hand on my back, and in precises movement - I hear two blades clash together.
Turning around to see what happened, I lay eyes on the event that plays out in front of me; Akki fought in my stead, bearing a blade craft from ice, clashing against Third, slicing cuts on him with the shards of ice that save me earlier.
"This is the strength of an unchosen, demon?" Third began to dodge majority of her attacks, eventually catching on to her patterns, sliding to the left when the shards went right, and to the other side when they went left, dancing to the flow. He keeps that same emotionless daze. "The difference truly is unfair-"
In a beat of my heart, I watch Akki's head separate from her body cleanly, plopping down and rolling far from her body. What frighting me the most wasn't her death, but the fact someone else deliver the final blow...
I tilt my eyes to a humanoid figure, skin pale silk like, bandages wrap around the right side of their body, bearing three horns on the top left side of its head, including pearl white hair that shines in the moonlight, slowly swaying down their sword to their side and eyes cruelly calm, shadowing Third.
Akki body falls to the floor. The creature who took her life, kneels to Third on looking his achievement, confirming that the new enemy was truly his demon.
"Sa'naki..." The demon spoke to his master, Third, having more of a brute human tone than demonic. "Turns out I was terribly mistaking; Forgive me for wasting your time. But I did hear claims of Eight in the northern district."
The demon rambles to Third, the one they claim to be named Sa'naki, about another number.
Eight, Ten and Third... These weren't use as age, but as a title. Then... There's the unchosen that Sa'naki mention. God would mention something of the sort too.
"Eight... In the northern district you say..." Third eyes slowly fall to me, holding pity in them. "Dam... This really was an unfortunate encounter for you..." He then eyes his demon once again. "A mistake is a mistake; we can't take things back in any world. Let's go h-
"Wait!" I cry out, lifting myself up from the floor I was terrified to leave, bawling up my fist. "Why won't you kill me!" I shut my eyes when seeing Akki's twisted corpse and gasping face far from her body. "Kill me, coward... I can't... You can't let me go on like this again! I'll find you! And I'll-
"Kaleega.. Claim his arm." Sa'naki's demon speeds forward, severing the arm I reach up to point at him, forcing me to fall back. He appears right behind me, slashing my right-hand clean off as well, during the moment I fall on my backside.
Kaleega, Sa'naki's demon, takes their time to steps away from me, on que of when I dust the ground, walking back to Third's side.
Laying on dirt, gazing up at the moon that shines high up in the sky... Taking in nothing but chilling winds and rustles of dead grass... I watch the sun shower I expected today fade in a smoke of clouds....
Things felt like it was going to get so much brighter too... But in the end, I was a fool to believe I could escape the clutches of misfortunate. No matter what, that beautiful, normal, peaceful life will always be in the distance...
Yeah, that's right... This is the second time Akki died in front of me, am I wrong? I fail to save her, not just once but twice. Ha, she did it again Mom... She jumped in the line of fire to save me...
Akki- Something thin and bone like, tiny claws cause me to slant my eyes to my nose. The white bird I now can strongly admit is my misfortune incarnate, lightly flaps their wings, landing their feet on the tip of it, watching me with their red beaded eyes. The birdie chirps twice, closing the distance between it and my forehead. If it had a human mouth, I am sure that the creature would be vividly smiling at my misery...
Have you been watching this entire time? Is this what you wanted all along you feathered demon... Did I follow you... Only to meet my doom? You wanted me to die here, huh... Tell me if I'm off by a mile, but you can't stand to see me happy for once in my dam life.
- Many questions, parasite my brain, seeing just darkness swirling around me and the bird that blocks the light from the moon.
-A hand lightly setting down on my chest and a plump, light feeling, heavy on my crotch, I open my eyes to a dunning image of a girl, who hair sways to their back, smooth black but spreads chaotically. Thier pinkish lips stretches into a skin crawling grin, accompany by black wings that spread, blocking the light of the moon as the bird did. A mix feeling of dread and death - No, of hope, refills my eyes. Black feathers gently float down to the ground.
