I slurp in the ramen. They say ramen isn't good for breakfast. Hmph, as if I'd care. Sluurp. If anything, the ramen will never get me before werewolves or banshees or demons do.
A phone call.
Groan.
Part of me feels it's important, and the other tried to convince me best to ignore. As a single female of sixteen, I always get a call from them. Guys who try to ask me out. Sometimes even girls. I… I don't know what they see in me. Do people just fall in love just by their appearance alone now? They don't even know what they would get themselves into. The middle world is sure weird. To think it'd be the thing, I should protect… ha.
You are lucky this place has ramen.
Who wouldn't protect a world that has ramen right?
…
Maybe there's something wrong with me.
But let me stop you there.
Everyone has something wrong with them, right? Small or little? Clear or sneaky?
Yeah.
Ramen is good.
I slurp in the ramen.
( ︶。︶✽) The best.
I look at myself over the empty television. Hey, I look great today. Slurp. As a daughter of a proud warrior family, I should always keep this image. Hm, why are you telling me, I shouldn't be gobbling the ramen like this then? Or I'd be fat? I'd never be fat. Not as long as I am running around the city looking for something to cut.
My late father wouldn't let me anyway…
I slurp the ramen.
It tastes weird now.
The phone buzzes again on my glass table.
Even at home, I couldn't relax.
Now which one this time? The bastard who says he wants me to step on him? Maybe the armpit worshipper one. Or that tomboy girl. The more I push them away, the closer they want to be with me.
I pull up the phone, intending to reject.
But the caller's contact stops me.
It's him.
I pick up the phone. "Sensei? What do you want? I'm at home."
"Well, I'm sorry, Ayane." His voice is tired… isn't it only morning? It's not like he's at school teaching, anyway.
"Y-You better be. I'm not happy. My ramen is getting colder. Make this quick."
Meow.
That's coming from my balcony.
I leave my ass off the couch as I take the phone to my balcony. With my steaming ramen, of course. A stray cat licking her paw. She's cute.
I try to share my ramen with her just because she's white and fluffy. I put it down. And then jumps away from it with a hand covering my nose. I can't handle cat.
The cat sniffs…
How does the ramen smell?
And she shakes her head.
凸(`⌒´メ)凸 You—you dare to reject a ramen!
I shoo her away.
My teacher speaks, "I am in that kind of situation again."
"What is it this time? Don't tell me it's a ghoul again…"
He says nothing for a while... "Ghouls."
Are you kidding me? Ghouls are the weakest and easiest to handle, at least to us exorcists.
"Just… ghouls?"
And I doubt for someone as prodigy as him in exorcism and strength, he couldn't do it himself. I still remember how he saved my life. He slew demons in hell as if they were vegetables in the kitchen. In fact, he's the strongest Exorcist I've known. He was promoted to be a Master when he's fifteen.
He left the exorcism world almost seven years ago.
And now is forbidden to use any divine power.
Still, that never meant he couldn't fight though, he's still extremely strong as a human. I told him that many times, but he just won't. I just don't get why.
Sigh, "I'm on my way. I have something to tell you, anyway."
"Sure."
"Also, you owe me a ramen."
"Er…"
"No deal?"
"Deal."
I smile.
Second after I hung up, he sent me the location. I put on my overcoat to cover my school uniform. I want nothing to stain it. Then I heave up a guitar case and wrap it around my body. No, I'm not into a band. This case contains everything an exorcist need to kill even a demon lord.
I put on my sneaker and open the door to the outside.
The morning breeze bonjour'd me.
It's time to do what I do best.
Kill Hell Creatures. I'll slice their heads off, clean and sharp.
I check my phone again. He's just in some random alleyway in the middle of Acadasia's city. It makes sense; the ghoul loves that kind of place.
And that's really convenient, four kilometers from here. "I'd get there in three minutes."
