When I return to the office, Alyssa rolls her chair and hits my back. "Hey" she says.
I turn around. "Hey, what's up?"
Alyssa, still with her stony face and scrolling her phone, says, "We don't hang out much often, like we used to do."
"Yeah…" I have been busy dealing with a vampire who wants to destroy the world that I forget, my friend. I watch her eyes in anticipation. Maybe she's probably waiting for me to say suggest thing. Ah, okay, that's how it is. So I start, "So do you want to—"
"No."
Owch. What made you go that way with the chat?
Alyssa continues, "Maybe next time. Anyway, I can't reach your phone. Is there anything I should know?"
"My phone got a virus."
"Great for you."
I don't think there's anything great about getting a virus. She might have said it wrong, but then again, this is Alyssa.
