As expected, Leng Mingshu sat in the car.
Today, Leng Mingshu was not wearing her usual traditional dress. She had put on a light pink dress, and even a touch of makeup, which added a hint of charm and cuteness to her appearance.
The Leng family's genes were certainly excellent, and Leng Mingshu looked quite attractive naturally. She usually wore an old-fashioned traditional dress, giving her a mature and dignified appearance. Living in the Leng family's ancient courtyard, seeing her, Leng Sa felt like they were still living in an entirely ancient courtyard instead of the current era of transition between old and new.
"Third Sister." Leng Mingshu, looking uncomfortable, nodded at Leng Sa.
Leng Sa nodded, "Very pretty."
Leng Mingshu breathed a sigh of relief, and Xiao Haoran, like a gentleman, politely took the front passenger seat, leaving the back seat for the two girls. The car started, heading towards the Leng family's direction.
Leng Mingshu stole a glance at Xiao Haoran sitting in the front seat and asked Leng Sa softly, "Third Sister, have you… been to the… nightclub?"
Leng Sa nodded and curiously inquired, "Grandfather allowed you to go to such a place?" She had been to such a place herself, but Old Master Leng didn't know about her visits.
Leng Mingshu lowered her head and replied, "Grandfather said that we, young people, should experience some new things."
Leng Sa smiled and commented, "Grandfather's flexibility in accepting things seems to change quite a bit."
Whatever they wanted to do, their grandfather would scold them for not following the rules. Yet, when Xiao Haoran mentioned it, their grandfather felt that young people should embrace new things. It was similar to when Leng Sa wanted to go to school, and their grandfather was adamantly against it. But when it came to his beloved legitimate grandson, Leng Yan, their grandfather insisted on going to the capital, and if needed, abroad.
Leng Mingshu pursed her lips, knowing that a well-mannered young lady should not criticize her elders in front of outsiders.
Leng Sa changed her clothes at home and informed the Second Madam before heading out again. Xiao Haoran's car drove them to the most bustling street in the southern part of the city.
This area had been expanded in recent decades, consisting entirely of modern high-rise buildings. Even at night, the streets were illuminated with neon lights. If it weren't for the slightly shorter buildings, narrower streets, fewer cars, and people wearing somewhat retro attire, Leng Sa might have thought they were in a completely modern world.
"Ladies, please," Xiao Haoran stepped out of the car, opened the door, and smiled at both of them inside.
Leng Mingshu's face turned slightly red as she glanced at Leng Sa who was sitting beside her. Leng Sa ducked out of the car and looked up at the entrance of the nightclub on the street. This street was lined with various nightclubs of all sizes, casinos, and various entertainment venues for eating, drinking, and having fun. The two nearby streets essentially encompassed all of Yong City's nightlife.
The club in front of them was called "Immortal Palace Nightclub," a rather retro name for an establishment with a very modern appearance. It was decorated in a pure Western style, and neon signs flickered at the entrance. There were two rows of people wearing black suits standing down the steps to the entrance. They were either security guards or attendants on standby.
Four girls wearing revealing and brightly colored outfits stood at the entrance.
The Immortal Palace was one of the top three nightclubs in Yong City. Although Leng Sa had heard a lot about it, this was her first time visiting.
"Third Sister," Leng Mingshu followed her, feeling a bit overwhelmed by the grandeur. Especially when she saw the girls in revealing outfits standing at the entrance, her face turned even redder.
In Leng Mingshu's mind, girls like her Third Sister, who roamed around and didn't conform to traditional norms, and even dared to oppose their elders, were already quite rebellious. Who would have thought that there could be such a thing?
How… shameless!
Xiao Haoran looked at the two of them and smiled. "Please."
Leng Mingshu was nervous that she didn't notice the expression on his face, but Leng Sa didn't miss the hint of contempt in his eyes when he looked at Leng Mingshu.
She glanced up at the neon sign above and said, "Young Master Xiao has a good relationship with your friend. The expenses here must be quite high as it is one of Yong City's top three nightclubs."
Xiao Haoran chuckled, "This is nothing. Let's go in."
"Young Master Xiao, please."
Although Leng Sa had left her university later than usual, they had arrived early for a visit to the nightclub. As they were ushered inside, there weren't too many people yet, so it wasn't too noisy. A young man with a side-parted hairstyle, with what seemed like a whole bottle of hair gel on his head came forward. "Haoran."
"Brother Zhang," Xiao Haoran greeted him with a smile. The man, named Zhang, looked curiously at Leng Sa and Leng Mingshu. "Haoran, these two…"
"Both are Miss Leng. Third and Fourth Young Lady Leng."
Brother Zhang seemed to know Xiao Haoran well and immediately understood. "Ah, I see… Welcome, welcome! It's a great honor to have both of you here at our Immortal Palace. There aren't many people here right now. Would you like to go upstairs, ladies?" Leng Mingshu remained silent and Leng Sa replied, "Yes, please. Thank you, Boss Zhang."
The man shook his head and smiled, saying, "Miss Leng, you're being too polite. I work for others too, how would I dare to call myself the boss? Haoran and I were best friends in the capital. All the expenses tonight for the three of you are on me. So please help yourself."
Leng Sa nodded with a smile, and the three of them followed him upstairs to the second floor.
On the first floor, there was a stage and dance floor, while the seating areas for guests were around it. The second floor, on the other hand, was surrounded by seats, and there were also private rooms. If one found it too noisy, they could go to the third or fourth floor, which had dance floors, performances, and drinks as well, but it was quieter, and of course, more expensive.
"What would you like to drink?"
Xiao Haoran smiled and said, "Let's have two glasses of fruit juice. There are still a few friends who haven't arrived yet."
Brother Zhang could not help but laugh. "You're here to drink juice?"
"We don't want the ladies to drink too much alcohol."
"Alright, please have a seat first." After saying that, he went downstairs to make arrangements. Xiao Haoran sat opposite the two of them, smiling, "We came a bit early. Please sit for a while, and it will get livelier once they arrive."
Leng Mingshu was a bit curious and asked, "Young Master Xiao… knows many people in Yong City?"
He smiled and said, "Not many. Just a few classmates from when I studied in the capital. They insisted on inviting me out now that I'm here in Yong City, so I couldn't refuse."
Leng Mingshu nodded, "Young Master Xiao is right." She didn't like this kind of place, and when he mentioned that there weren't many people there right now, she knew that it would get more crowded and noisy later. She had been raised with strict manners since childhood and found it challenging to adapt to such an environment.
Leng Sa leaned against the sofa behind her and raised an eyebrow, "The man just now…"
"He's the manager of this Immortal Palace Nightclub. His name is Zhang Cheng."
"I noticed he's not even 30 yet, and he's already a manager. He's young and promising."
Xiao Haoran smiled, "That's right, but his ability to become the manager of Immortal Palace may not be solely because of his efforts. His father is a cousin to Zhang Lixun, who is the right-hand man of the head of the merchants' association."
Leng Sa nodded. "I see."
Leng Mingshu had no idea who the head of the merchants' association was and naturally had no idea who Zhang Lixun was. Seeing the two of them chatting so comfortably, she couldn't help but feel a bit disappointed.
