Chapter 108 - We rise by avoiding confrontation

"Hey, hey! Chisom, slow down!" Reuben hollered, running up to me.

He skids to a stop in front of me.

I had been avoiding him ever since the kiss.

I forced a smile onto my face as he stopped, grabbing my arm. 

"Hi!" I greeted brightly.

"What's up?" I said through gritted teeth, forcing the awkward smile to stay put on my face.

"You've been avoiding me," He said outright, with no preamble.

"You just came right out with that. I'm not avoiding you, I wave to you every day."

That was a partial truth.

I did see him and wave to him every day but I never waited for him to wave back or even allowed him to speak even when I would see him open his mouth to speak.

"That's not completely true and you know it, Chisom. We have to talk about what happened and I won't take no for an answer," He said firmly, still holding on to my arm, perhaps to stop me from escaping. 

I sighed heavily.
